Sunak giving a speech on welfare. (Quelle surprise, those dirty benefits recipients). He has, give him his due, outlined the complete failure of this Government to tackle underlying issues of people ending up on benefits. Let me give him a clue or two. Many people who are working are still on benefits. And using food banks. The rights of workers have been stripped away. Employers are struggling with the downturn in growth and Brexit consequences. People are unable to access GP appointments and healthcare quickly. The lack of investment in mental health support has caused issues. Your sanctions regime caused the death of hundreds. There hasn't been job security in this country since the mid-1980s. Childcare support is already out of reach or unavailable to many. He has the audacity to talk about benefit fraud being treated like tax fraud. Maybe if tax fraud was cracked down upon like benefit fraud already is, things would be different. The man is so out of touch with how people are actually struggling to get by day to day under this pathetic bunch of multi-millionaires.

For example if Tom Cruise Nephew/Brother/Dad etc. Bob Cruise was a Gaffer,Best Boy,Photgrapher/Hairdresser/Caterer or had a Vanity Producers Credit on a Mission Impossible Behind The Scenes Doc on IMDb that still not a high enough bar even if they get a DailyMail copypasta .Those specific behind the scenes industry occupations never are noted unless they are related to someone famous. However if a Bob Cruise has professional acting/writing etc credits where they may land an Obit even if they were related to nobody famous then they are acceptable. I was working for The Weight Band feature members that played in The Band and The Levon Helm Band. Sadly, Jim Weider who replaced Robbie Robertson in The Band had to rush home mid tour as his wife was taken ill. They still managed to put on a really good show. It was an older audience, so the show was over by about 9:45. They opened with "Don't Do It" and then closed with "The Weight" It just occurred to me that today marks 12 years since Levon Helm passed away.

Well, you are kind of agreeing with me if I'm reading that right. Netanyahu will not care a jot what the UK says. Sunak should realise that, and concentrate on building up our own defence forces so easily and smugly dismissed for years under this Government. Remember what we were told? We didn't need conventional forces, all new threats would be cyber, yada yada. Our enemies will be gloating at the draining of money and weaponry in proxy wars we need not be part of, although I agree with our involvement in Ukraine. This leaves us, an already weakened force both diplomatically and in arms, exposed, no matter how many expensive and non-usable nuclear weaponry we hold. We should concentrate on aid in Gaza alone imo. Netanyahu will not stop at Lebanon, Syria and Iran. He's lost it and there's no talking sense into him or his group of fanatics. Israel should be able to fight the missiles and drones itself. If it cannot, then the withdrawal of support at least from the UK, might have an effect. If Netanyahu wants to turn his country to dust, that's his issue, not ours.

Lord Byron died on this day 200 years ago, aged 36. - Byron's first name was George. He gained his "lord" title when he was 10 upon the death of his great-uncle William Byron- specifically, he was a baron. - One of Byron's earlier works, his poetry book Hours of Idleness, received scathing reviews from the Edinburgh Review; as such Byron would write the satirical piece English Bards and Scotch Reviewers anonymously in 1809, the same year he entered the House of Lords. - Byron's breakout book was 1812's Childe Harold's Pilgrimage, which Byron personally did not believe would sell well. From there, he became a star of Romantic era novels, which included The Giaour, The Bride of Abydos, and The Siege of Corinth. Equally successful was his Hebrew Melodies collection of poems from 1815, which were lyrics Byron wrote to accompany music composed by Jewish composer Isaac Nathan. - Byron would leave England in 1816 due to his split from his wife, and rumors that he had an incestuous affair with his half-sister. He first went to Switzerland (where he befriended Percy and Mary Shelley), then to Italy the following year. - In 1823, he decided to assist Greece in their war of independence against the Ottoman Empire, because he wanted a life of adventure. He would use his own money to supply his own legion of troops. Byron did not die in battle- rather, he fell sick, and his condition was exacerbated due to how much blood was drained from his body (due to bloodletting). - Byron's daughter and only legitimate child was Ada Lovelace.

This reminded me of the poem "Warning" by Jenny Joseph: When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple With a red hat that doesn’t go, and doesn’t suit me. And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves And satin candles, and say we’ve no money for butter. I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells And run my stick along the public railings And make up for the sobriety of my youth. I shall go out in my slippers in the rain And pick the flowers in other people’s gardens And learn to spit. You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat And eat three pounds of sausages at a go Or only bread and pickles for a week And hoard pens and pencils and beer nuts and things in boxes. But now we must have clothes that keep us dry And pay our rent and not swear in the street And set a good example for the children. We must have friends to dinner and read the papers. But maybe I ought to practise a little now? So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.
