Before I get on with the actual updates, I've got one more stats post for you. First of all, here's the average points per team each celebrity received: 1 Joe Biden 21.70 2 Donald Trump 20.54 3 Michael J. Fox 18.72 4 Andy Taylor 17.40 5 Billy Connolly 15.81 6 Clint Eastwood 15.75 7 William Shatner 15.44 8 Ozzy Osbourne 15.32 9 Buzz Aldrin 14.05 10 Janey Godley 13.91 11 Phil Collins 13.07 12 Bruce Willis 12.40 13 Dick van Dyke 11.77 14 Robert Wagner 10.47 15 Prunella Scales 9.37 16 Pope Francis 9.19 16 Rupert Murdoch 9.19 18 David Attenborough 8.19 19 Willie Nelson 7.93 20 Mel Brooks 7.32 21 Tim Bilton 6.60 22 Toby Keith 6.05 23 Yoko Ono 4.51 24 Dave Myers 4.09 25 Erik Jensen 3.86 26 Shannen Doherty 3.53 27 Linda Nolan 3.21 28 Paul Spencer 2.58 29 Cleo Laine 2.47 30 Denis Law 2.12 31 Bob Newhart 1.96 32 Dennis Skinner 1.93 33 Patrick Murray 1.77 34 Roberta Flack 1.58 35 Eva Marie Saint 1.44 36 Theo Burrell 1.35 37 Stanley Baxter 1.23 38 Frank Caprio 1.19 38 Frank Field 0.77 40 June Spencer 0.70 41 Esther Rantzen 0.68 42 James Whale 0.65 43 Michael Tilson Thomas 0.63 44 Rob Burrow 0.61 45 Joanne Woodward 0.51 46 Nigel Starmer-Smith 0.49 47 (Wildlife) Simon Cowell 0.47 48 Jonnie Irwin 0.28 49 Noam Chomsky 0.14 50 Jimmy Carter 0.02 51 Steve McMichael 0.00 Using these numbers, I've calculated all of your most outlying opinions. In the table below is an alphabetical list of Inverse Dead Pool 2024 players. Next to each player, there are two celebrities, each with two numbers in brackets – the first number is the number of points the player has assigned that celebrity, and the second number is the gap between that number and the celebrity's average points value. The celebrity on the left is the celebrity whose points from that player are farthest ABOVE the celebrity's average points value (i.e. the celebrity whose survival that player is most disproportionately invested in). The celebrity on the right is the celebrity whose points (or lack thereof) from that player are farthest BELOW the celebrity's average points value (i.e. the celebrity whose death would probably be most beneficial to that player). Ivan the Terrible died on this day 440 years ago, aged 53. - Ivan was the son of Vasili III of Russia, and became the grand prince when he was 3 years old, following the death of his father. His mother would act as regent until she died five years later, and from there high-ranking nobles became the regents. - Ivan would officially be crowned when he was 16, and took the "tsar" title- the first Russian monarch to do so. "Tsar" is derived from "caesar", and Ivan claimed that his distant ancestor Rurik was a direct descendant of a fabricated brother of Emperor Augustus (named Prus). - Ivan's early reign is marked by the Great Fire of 1547, a series of government reforms, and the construction of St. Basil's Cathedral in 1561. - Ivan issued a letter of abdication in 1564 due to his suspicion of the nobility. When the nobles were unable to form a government, they begged him to return, and he accepted on the basis that he was given absolute power. This led to the creation of the Oprichniki- his bodyguards comprised of nobles loyal to him, also known as his "secret police" due to the powers and duties bestowed upon them. - Ivan's "terrible" moniker is due to violent outbursts that he often had- and it is also believed he had undiagnosed psychopathy: as a child, he would butcher living birds he caught, and throw cats and dogs out of windows. This is also applicable due to the Novgorod Massacre of 1570 (that killed about 3,000 people), and the fact he killed his son Ivan following a verbal dispute. - Ivan famously died from a stroke while in the middle of a chess match: He was succeeded by his son Feodor I, who was the last ruler of Russia of the Rurikid dynasty.

2004 is now the oldest US election with both candidates and their running mates still alive.

Elizabeth Edwards announced she had breast cancer a day after the 2004 election loss. She was very instrumental in his policy on universal healthcare in his 2008 election run, and actually any of his liberal policies. I remember having a real preference for her. John sabotaged his whole political career when he had a child with another woman and committed campaign finance fraud to cover it up. Elizabeth died in 2010. The whole thing was very salacious in a way that I guess we don't really like to talk about it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Edwards_extramarital_affair It did show that National Enquirer could be an actual legitimate source for political gossip. Whole aside, but the woman that John had the affair with is the subject of many Jay McInerney and Bret Easton Ellis stories throughout the 80s-00s. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Story_of_My_Life_(novel) McInerney's novel also had references to the real life murders of the Brach candy heiress and show-jumping horses that the FBI didn't reveal to the public until several years later: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Show_jumping_horse_killings I was always kind of fascinated that one of the worst crimes in sports and a political downfall were hidden in these fiction books.

I put Yung Miami on my list because of her ties with Diddy: either as an attempt to avoid jail or whatever other dumb reasons she had. She is notably named in a lot of the lawsuits and press this week. No pregnancy news yet though.

The way my friends texted me immediately on this death; it caused me to jump. He has been successfully tanking the democratic party efforts for decades. He was instrumental in getting the public option removed from the Affordable Care Act. His dumb son also tried to block the state of Georgia from getting democratic senators elected a couple years ago (however, the people of Georgia miraculously got two). He was added to the ticket in 2000 to bring a conservative element, campaigning on bringing more religion into politics. ALWAYS has been like this, imo.

I can't tell you how much I would love for Labour to be in power and the Lib Dems to be the Opposition. Suella Braverman sat on the backbenches twiddling her thumbs waiting for her two questions as leader of the third party with 50 seats. But realistically, it'll end up being Labour and Tories as normal, with all those flirting with Reform falling into line to limit the damage.

On the bright side, if the Tories do so badly at the next election that they completely implode, that leaves the door open for more PR-friendly parties like the Lib Dems to replace them as the next largest party and make it a more salient topic after the next election. May be wishful thinking and I'm prepared for the polls to be wrong again, but what else have we got at the moment?

I'll be honest, I've been there. When I studied politics 20 years ago, the argument in favour of FPTP was that it provided strong and stable governments. Having seen eras of Thatcher then Blair, I could see the sense in that. You may not agree with everything they do, but at least they are able to do it without gridlock or division. 2010 was a once in a generation event, a coalition government, never to be repeated (probably likely to collapse in a year or two and lead to a new majority government). In the AV referendum, I held my nose and backed Cameron in voting No, not because I was dead set against PR, but that AV wasn't really meaningful PR (I think I was in favour of Single Transferable Vote, probably still am). The last 14 years have been a car crash, when you look at the number of votes each party has got and the number of seats that's equated to, the weak and divided governments it has ushered in and the cast of undesirables that have risen to the top. I think (hope) Labour would like to be more radical, but their only hope of winning under FPTP (at least in their eyes - and tried and trusted logic would seem to bear this out) is convincing a narrow swathe of the electorate to switch from Tory to Labour, flipping seats up and down the country from blue to red. That means being fiscally restrained, socially cautious and politically uncontroversial. We keep hearing that there is a liberal majority in elections but we always seem to lean to a centre right government. With Single Transferable Vote, you could back every liberal party and still know your vote will count. This would potentially lead to a broad liberal coalition made up of Greens, Lib Dems and Labour who could be far more radical in their policies and thinking and find consensus on key issues. With the Tories the only major party on the right (although this may be changing), liberal-leaning voters are forced to pick whichever party is best placed to win, rather than the one that best aligns with their beliefs. I'm in a safe Labour seat, if there is a Green on the ballot (and there probably won't be), I could be tempted to vote for them, knowing it probably wouldn't matter here, but do I really want to take that risk? No, of course not. With STV, I could vote Green, then vote Labour (maybe even with Lib Dem in between) and still know I'm contributing to defeating the Tories whatever the outcome. The problem you've got is the only party that can bring the change in is usually the one that's just done very well under the existing system... What I do know is that I would much rather have Labour in power than the Tories, whatever their shade of purple. The Blair years saw so much good happen in this country, even if he wasn't as radical as some of the Labour left would have liked him to be. I'm hoping once given a stonking majority, Starmer and Reeves will be able to be bold, although the state the Tories are leaving the country's finances in, I'm not sure they'll be able to, whatever their ideals.

Now this is a big claim. How long until we can disprove it? The Voice reporting the death of Neil Flanigan MBE, 99, who they claim was the last veteran of World War II from the Caribbean. In total there were over 10,000 personnel from the West Indies. Sure, not a huge amount, but I find it hard to believe that they're all gone already? Edit: Ralph Ottey, 100, is from the Caribbean and is still living. Though he does live in the UK now. Perhaps there really are no WWII vets still living in the Caribbean. 2nd edit: There's also Ena Collymore-Woodatock, 106 – she's still living in Barbados. Starting to look like the article is making silly claims as I thought.
