Folk shitting on vulnerable minorities gets characterized by the powers that be in society as "forthright telling it like it is". Whereas if the vulnerable speak up, or folk speak up in defense of the vulnerable, it gets characterized as whiny. Equal parts saddening and disgusting.

I must admit I'm absolutely baffled at how caring about other people has become such a divisive issue in our society. It's very sad.

According to the man himself on X, Mark Steel is cancer-free: A nice man from UCL Hospital called this week, to say a scan of me showed the cancer I had has all gone. The treatment worked, the cancer bottled it and ran off, the wimp.

Press like horse races and listen to any gossip which suggests there is one. Khan just won an area Bailey won in 2021.

Adam "MCA" Yauch died on this day 12 years ago, aged 47. - MCA was an acronym for "Master of Ceremonies Adam". - Yauch would create the punk band Young Aborigines alongside Michael (Mike D) Diamond, and the band would become the Beastie Boys in 1981. - Throughout the band's history, Yauch would co-write many of their hit singles, including "You Gotta Fight for Your Right to Party", "No Sleep Till Brooklyn", "Brass Monkey", "Sabotage", and "Intergalactic". - Yauch also went under the pseudonym 'Nathaniel Hornblower' when directing some of the Beastie Boys' music videos, such as those for "Intergalactic" and "Body Movin'": - While Yauch had a Catholic father and Jewish mother, he was a Buddhist and was a vocal proponent for Tibetan liberation from China. - Yauch was the only one of the Beastie Boys unable to record voice cameos for the Futurama episode "Hell is Other Robots", so Adam (Ad-Rock) Horowitz would voice him. Recordings of "Intergalactic" and "Super Disco Breakin'" at the concert the characters attended would still use his voice, however: - Yauch was diagnosed with salivary gland cancer in 2009, and died after a 3-year battle with the disease.

It’s less about the result and more about nobody wanting to be the one to lead them into the election they’re going to lose anyway, especially now there’s some projection data. There’s less pressure on Sunak to call a GE but he’s still squatting with no ideas.

He's close to the King, played at the Coronation Concert too. Think he's done work with the Prince's Trust, but someone will be able to comment better I'm sure.

Yeah, no discussion of cause so you're suspecting suicide until told different. As I recall it, years ago we discussed the tonnage of cricket suicides and I just checked again about a book on that subject, published in 2001. Point being I don't recall a book about suicides in any other major sport.

I worked for Madeleine Peyroux and Jill Sobule last night. Show was sold out. The venue only holds about 360. Personally, I had never heard of Madeleine Peyroux but had heard of Jill. I was surprised that she was the support act. I don't know if it's because Madeleine's new album was only available on a USB card, and she didn't have much else in the way of merchandise. But, Jill sold 3 times more. That's probably the first time I've had the support act sell more than the headliner. Both sounded great. I have to admit, I enjoyed Jill's set more
