Yeah, you talk about the marquee roles in cinema and "Shopkeeper in The Good The Bad and The Ugly" is up there with Hamlet or Othello.

We are running behind on 2008 - Richard Widmark was the 5th death on 26/3 followed by the sixth death (Charlton Heston) on 6/4. But if you compare to the other record year 2003 the 5th death did not occur until 27th June (Strom Thurmond), so we are ahead. Anyone care to have a stab at the 10 names that would break the record? gough whitlam ronnie biggs clive james henry cecil denis healey general jaruzelski fats domino peter sallis bernie nolan kirk douglas that's my guess anyway .

This is really interesting!! Do you know more auditions? I only know this one from Wikipedia/Betty White: “White was originally offered the role of Blanche in The Golden Girls, and Rue McClanahan was offered the role of Rose (the two characters being similar to roles they had played in Mary Tyler Moore and Maude, respectively). Jay Sandrich, the director of the pilot, suggested that since they had played similar roles in the past, they should switch roles, Rue McClanahan later said in a documentary on the series.” No not really but am I right in thinking that all the actresses who appeared in the UK version of the show are still with us? Not quite; Sheila Gish died in 2005. She was the youngest of the 4 too. Wendy Craig, Sheila Hancock and Jean Boht are all still with us

Today sees the 30th anniversary of Buster Crabbe literally kicking the bucket. He died of a heart attack aged 75 after tripping over a wastepaper basket. (Source :Wikipedia)
