It might be better to say "died while at work", since on this side of the pond "on the job" has a different colloquial meaning

The Casino will be dimming its lights tonight in memory of Smith Hart, who became the Poker Tournament's first ever hit a year ago.

From Y-Dub's post above: "Bay City Roller Alan Longmuir dies" (Just so the name is searchable). And yes, it is sad news. Although.... that means he died on a M-O-N-D-A-Y morning.

*checks forum* Thread police? EDIT - Man, that cat looks pissed. Bet it ate the photographer soon after.

I would have to clear it with Thread Police but I believe it should go in the Chirac thread (where I believe everything should go)

Unique for my BBC Heaven theme team, which gets them off the mark. Shame. A creator of icons in his era.

Thanks everyone, especially @msc for all your hard work. Commiserations @Sir Creep, I hope you clear the final hurdle next year. It is nice to still be winning deadpools. Would still like to get a Hartlepool DP win to add to my collection, so I'm not going to be retiring any time soon.

** According to Google Translate..."Kurippusu-san" is Sir Creeps A Lot, in Japanese. I think I'll just drop the 'san'. Kurippusu. Look out! Kurippusu is in the house! ** = disclaimer

Actually the word (obviously it's not a real word) is perfect for the only scenario I would use it - someone is way too wound up about something trivial so rather than telling them to relax I use the massively irritating 'chillaxio' which winds them up even more - sorry redr

Hmm - dunno; he's not notably malicious or bitter and twisted. His drinking and general demons are more to do with obvious mental health problems. If anything, he'd be one of the previous nearly-men who'd wish the winners well and actually mean it. Dunno how - say - David Beckham, Frank Lampard, David Seaman or one or two other stalwarts of Golden Generation failures would feel. If we do achieve the near-impossible the tell tale sign would be anyone of the past stars passing derogatory comments about the quality of the opposition beaten on the way to victory in 2018.

Nope, just the ones where there is more than one relevant thread. On multiple occasions, when I've posted an obituary, someone comes along and suggests what they believe to be a more relevant thread than the one to which I've posted. So as to satisfy everyone (and keep my eye rolls to a minimum), I double post. Most of my entries are single thread.

Back in Berlin... this trip will stay with me for quite a while. New York is an impressive city, and we mostly only saw Manhattan. Thanks for the company, Book, and the final kick in the ass to just go ahead and do it.

We get that here in the UK more often than you think.

So I nicknamed them the immortals, and less than 2 years later, there's only 3 left? Chalk another prediction up for Mystic Meg here.

Wonder if the whole concept of the "near death album" that we've seen with Blackstar and You Want It Darker will become a more common thing in the future as a whole generation of popular musicians near the end of their lives? If so, I can't wait to hear what Rick Astley's attempt will sound like... No dissing Rick Not dissing Rick at all actually - just can't imagine him ever making that type of album. Anyway, he looks like a picture of health and I would not be at all surprised if he sees 90, if he can look that good at 50. Rick Astley is shit.
