His name sounded a bit like "Hairy Vadge Pie", and for that he'll always be remembered.

It's a small initial investment for what could be quite a few year's fun!

Almost made a terrible mistake. Started reviewing the list and then made my selections just before I submitted them I realised I had picked the ones I thought would die. I had done both Sept & October.

Boris is interested in Boris. If he has the slightest competence at all it's in getting voters to believe something different. In fairness as alluded to above by msc he's hardly alone in that. Farage is the same with but with less of the faux charm. Ditto Rees-Bogg, Ditto Gove. Cameron's another, he called the referendum in an attempt to get his own dissident back-benchers in line, it was nothing to do with the good of the country. From his perspective he made a fatal error. You may be on either side of the brexit argument, but don't deceive yourself it was ever called on behalf of the populace, it was political maneuvering. These guys cough, we catch a cold.

Aretha Franklin's death means I take a two person lead over the DL! YW - 8; DL - 6.

RIP to a true legend. And one has to say, a very big miss from the Committee.

Not at all, I was tempted to pick The Eagle Has Landed, but I'm not convinced any of the living cast are in a great hurry to go yet, thankfully.

You are assuming Aretha will make it till Monday.

The people on my Derby Dead Pool team of #1 hitmakers who are also on my Inverse Dead Pool team – the ones who weren't properly imminent but were at least theme-team mortal – are Doris Day, Vera Lynn, and Olivia Newton-John. But, wisely, not Aretha Franklin. (Or Chris Rea, for that matter, who I maintain has been dead since 2017 and it's just that nobody's bothered to phone his agent and check.) I'm currently 7th place. 5 of the 6 teams above me have Aretha. I like this thread now.

Ajit Wadekar, Indian cricketer, has died aged 77. He was Captain of the Indian Team from 1971-1974, during Tests against the West Indies and England. Probably couldn't deal with the absolute pasting England is giving India in the current Test. Edit: BBC, The Telegraph, The Independent obituaries.

Was anybody saying otherwise? The clarification is welcome, as in the UK we do not tend to use the phrase "hospice care" when the patient is at home. Most of us would understand it to mean that the patient is IN a hospice.

Sigh, because the legislatures are fucking up education in Oklahoma for paying the teachers so little. I’m actually lucky to be in one of the very few districts who can actually receive a decent education, but that’s all because of what the community gave to support us, not our stupid legislators. For much of Oklahoma, they can’t even run their school for five days a week because they don’t have money to run the lights all five days, and many of them don’t have enough textbooks for every kid, and many districts even have crippling textbooks. Some teachers are very close to living on food stamps even. Even if you don’t buy that though, you do realize that we’re going to have to make up every day we’re out due to the strike. This isn’t a free break, as it’ll likely cost me a lot of my summer due to the shady legislators. Partying for instant gratification isn’t right, as the teachers are fighting so everyone can actually receive a very decent education. I will continue to support the teachers everyday that they are out until they receive the pay that they deserve. End of rant.

A couple of famous artists who are still alive: Carmen Herrera 1915 Gerhard Richter 1932 Arik Brauer 1929 Christo 1935 David Hockney 1937 There are also some younger artists who, I think, are exposed to considerable risks, since it became known that they were among Tony Podesta's favorite artists: Marina Abramovic 1946 does just the usual satanist stuff, like spraying blood & other bodily fluids. The following painters/photographers however, have created some eye-catching artworks: Patricia Piccinini 1965 Sam Taylor-Wood 1967 Anna Gaskell 1969 Margi Geerlinks 1970 Biljana Djurdjevic 1973 Two things may happen: 1.They may attract the attention of some weirdo obsessed by "Pizzagate". 2. The DOJ suddenly becomes adventurous & starts to investigate the Podestas & their ties to the Clintons. And we know that bad things happened to people with insider knowledge about the Clintons...
