Had a diagnosis of Cancer at the back of my tongue last October, and was told it was big, I left it too long, and recovery was nowhere near a given. So had all remaining teeth removed to remove risk of infection during treatment, six weeks of daily radiotherapy, 4 chemo cycles, 18 days on and off in hospital when stomach packed up, and brain frying was at its worst. I had my 3 month scan after treatment finish, and DONE IT !! BEAT THE FUCKER !! CANCER FREE. Right choice not playing Deathlist cup because of it, as I was away with the fairies end of February...hang on who am I kidding I would have got that far !!!! Anyways, need op to have my jaw sorted out after tooth op issues, and replacement teeth at some stage when covid buggers off, cant eat a lot of foods, cant drink alcohol cos it hurts mouth too much, got little taste or smell and a load of other things not right yet. but hell, I can deal with all that shit. Anyone else got some positive stories about themselves or families, Covid recoveries etc, please add them. Forum topic in an Inverse Stylee.

Grandson interviewed. (After your elimination, you gave a very moving speech about your grandfather, revealing to the group that he'd recently been put in hospice care. Have you been able to visit him since filming?) It's been harder and harder to see him. My mom spends a lot of her time with him. She spends almost half her time taking care of him at this point just because of things like COVID regulations. So it's really family oriented. I haven't been seeing him as much recently, but he knows that I love him and we're supporting him through this time. (How is he doing?) He's pretty sick. He still does use his brain. He listens to audiobooks. He's a genius. He's super smart. I love him. He always wants to be doing something with his mind, so he's trying to keep himself busy, but he is really sick and getting older. (It was also made public since the show that your grandmother, Rosalynn Carter, has been battling dementia. How is she doing?) I just want to say that she's an amazing woman. She's put in so much work in her life. She's done things for mental health. I want everyone to know how incredibly important and beautiful she is as a person and a grandma. Yeah, she does have dementia and when I see her, she does forget what's going on sometimes, but when she remembers it's amazing. I love her.

We're up. Teams, celebs picked, Drop 40 all posted (I previously alluded to there being a joint tie at 40th, but two of these names had an inflated total due to a few duplicate teams - it's just 40 names). Obits posted for the first two weeks - Crosby and co will wait until next weekend. 2022 archived. List of the Missed up, as is a (currently blank) List of the Lost. TTL waits until later in the month. There's obviously still kinks to be sorted out but that will be handled in due time. But for now, we're here. I said it on the DDP site itself and I'll reiterate here: In addition to the 2023 committee of @gcreptile, @Banana, and I, @Grim Up North was also invaluable in helping during the entry period and first couple of weeks of the year, in both teaching Banana all the ins-and-outs of the team entry process and the many quirks of our system, as well as assisting the committee with new celeb data entry. Additionally @Whitehouse contributed to the new celebs in a voluntary capacity. Having that task divided between five people indubitably made it far less daunting than last year, and we thank the assistance.

Yes, deadpoolers, it’s that time of year again. Even in a world without the Queen, Gorbachev, and an old lady who danced with Obama, the Derby Dead Pool remains everpresent ahead of its 28th year running. After three Decembers of entering 500+ teams, @Grim Up North is retiring from his team entry duties and passing the baton to @Banana. @gcreptile and I retain our committee positions for the upcoming year. Libby and Gorby had 24 verified DDP appearances - now only Keith Richards and Holly Johnson are in contention for a 25th next year THE RULES (which also contain instructions on submitting a team) remain the same as before. Emails should be going out later tonight. IMPORTANT REMINDER: The spreadsheet method of entry that began in 2021 remains in service. The 2023 spreadsheet, identical to the 2022 one in all but filename, can be found here. It is heavily recommended to use the spreadsheet as means of entry to reduce Banana's workload as much as possible. If you are absolutely unable to work with the Excel spreadsheet, still make sure to recheck GUN's DDP entry guide thread from 2020 to make the formatting of your email as smooth as possible.

Front page is up Yep, we know about the various anomalies in the text that can be fixed in a quiet week in March. The team descriptions will be updated, the names all standardised (though those with a capital surname were last picked in 2017!), and so on. Oh and if it says on the List of Teams your email doesn't work, ignore that... Obviously the LOTL and LOTM pages revert to 2019 because there isn't officially any yet. (Well, there are for the Missed but let's let Reptile sleep for a bit...) All up to date bar Samantha Last who will be in the next update. All thats left for now is to thank Grim for all the data processing over the Christmas holidays, Spade Cooley for hanging around and Agony Uncle-ing every single issue possible, and the man Reptile who sat for 4 days and worked through every single bug and fixed them. Legends, all of them.
