I have tried assessing the relative fame of the picks this year but I have to compare these to those who do not appear on the list. There are two lists that we can look at The Drop 40 for DDP picks and the Crowdsourced Deathlist. So the drop 40 contains 18 names that are not on the main list. Six of those have made previous appearances on the list. QEII last appeared in 2017 and the general consensus seems to be safe until Philip goes yes to fame no to illness. Of the five names that were on last year's list three (Leslie Philips, Pope Benedict & Jill Gascoine) are just those who are removed because of the only 25 return rule. Some will be back next year. Paul Gascoinge and Linda Nolan I think were poor picks and it was right for them not to return. So the remaining 12 Fernando Ricksen - Popular in these parts but footballing achievements negligible. Kathleen Blanco - very ill no European recognition Greg Gilbert - Ill but on the edge of fame George Aligiah & Bill Turnbull both ill and instantly recognisable in UK but limited international recognition Marieke Vervoort wil she won't she. Tim Conway - one for the Americans Lee Kerslake - Do non front me count? RBG - A possible miss if she is that ill. Still working JLT - Cinema buff pick. I would not have complained if he had been included Andrew Fairlie - Dead but not really a miss as did not pass the fame barrier Terry Jones - Possibly the one who most deserved a place out of these 12. I will look at the Crowdsourced next.

Although it is just worth ranking yesterdays votes and May's deal votes. Second Referendum: Peoples Vote Ayes 268 Noes 295 Customs Union Ayes 264 Noes 272 Mays Deal Second Vote Ayes 242 Noes 391 Labour's Plan Ayes 237 Noes 307 Mays Deal First Vote Ayes 202 Noes 432 Common Market 2.0 Ayes 188 Noes 283 Revocation Ayes 184 Noes 293 No Deal Ayes 160 Noes 400 Contingent Preferential Arrangements Ayes 139 Noes 422 EFTA EEA Ayes 65 Noes 377 So both the people's vote and Ken Clarke's Customs Union have more chance of getting through parliament than May's deal.

They've really "taken back control", haven't they? Instead, owing to their inherent fuckwittery, they're too focused on May's imminent resignation. Very canny of her to announce it today, vote all other options down before her deal is voted on. Interestingly, the motion with the most Aye votes was Dame Margaret Beckett's second referendum proposal...there's a good chance this could eventually garner enough support for a majority.

There's a good, very bright visible pass of the International Space Station over the British Isles this evening. The altitude ranges (at maximum) from about 25 degrees above the horizon in Thurso to directly overhead in the south of England. It comes over the horizon to the west, goes over the south and sets in the east. At latitudes around and below London, it goes more or less directly overhead. Maximum is at 8 o'clock - give or take a couple of minutes - depending on your location. https://spotthestation.nasa.gov/

About Bouteflika.. Well, he's incapacitated from the stroke. But what's the history of these cases? If you survive the stroke, is an early death more likely from that point on? Though Bouteflika is already in his 80s, so not THAT early.

If he is still with us he'll have to be at least 90. Although a lot of 'em would be over 100 now, the only one I'm certain of being dead is Derek Carter, fourth from left, middle row. He was my sixth-form master and would check the smoking room toilets to complete morning registration.

Tbh he's juggling enough health problems that they could easily spiral out of control - might well be trotting out in the later rounds of the DL Cup by the looks of things

I'm a little horrified at how BoJo and Mogg are so driven by ambition that her promise to resign is what convinces them to back May's deal.

Where on earth did you get this idea that they were representatives of anyone but their own self-interest? There are a few, but hard to spot.

The face if familiar but I don't recall his name and he wasn't a foreigner; all staff and pupils were caucasian for the first three years I was there. I can name about a half of them and my favourite is Jock Shields (physics teacher, second from right, back row) who had a terrific sense of humour and took every opportunity to explain Brownian motion because it gave him an excuse to smoke a fag in class.

Mr Thompson (the guy on the left) buggered off half way through my Russian 'O' level course to take up a position at a public school (I think American's say private school). Mr Light (the guy on the right, who was fluent in Russian and French) refused to give up one of his French language classes to allow us to finish the course.
