I don’t want this important obit lost in our good friends from the UK etc. 1970s ‘Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom’ was as much a staple of American television as there was. Everyone watched it. Along with the occasional Jacques Cousteau special, it was our introduction to many of our animal friends that roam this big blue marble with us. So.... Marlin Perkins (the main presenter) and Jim Fowler were pervasive in our culture if you are 45 or older. It was always a bit of schtick that Marlin would to the voiceover commentating and Jim would be the guy on film always dealing with the dangerous animal. Like he was the patsy lol. My Yank friends and I are having great craic remembering the end of the era (Perkins died many years ago). Many comments all like this: “I'm surprised he lived this long being that Marlin Perkins would narrate all the dangerous stuff he sent Jim in to do... "Notice while I sent Jim to look in the mouth of the live, angry crocodile with an absessed tooth..." “While Jim wrestles the caiman, let’s hear a word from Mutual of Omaha....” RIP Mr Fowler SirC

Top gag - shame only about six posters will get it! I'll let yers know if his agent calls. Looking at this objectively - he's 61 and however sincere his apology is (I'm convinced he's no racist) this is a downward career slope from here. It's not over but he's unlikely to get within sight of his previous career peaks.

Harry's his grandchild Archie's his great-grandchild. You need a sizeable piece of paper these days to sketch out Phil's family tree and keep it legible.

Thoughts are with you. I have been in hospital holding the hand of my 90 yo Dad who was taken in on Tuesday. He is weak but they are giving him a broad spectrum antibiotic. He was able to speak to us before we left. Hope things improve for you @drol

Agree with those who are saying it's been a really slow year this year so far. It will pick up later in the year though - it always does. Don't see this year's list getting much more than about 10 hits though to be honest

Three Aussie guys, Shane, Ricky and Jeff, were working on a high-rise building project in Wagga Wagga. Unfortunately, Shane falls off the scaffolding and is killed instantly. As the ambulance takes the body away, Ricky says, 'Someone should go and tell his wife.' Jeff says, 'OK, I'm pretty good at that sensitive stuff, I'll do it.' Two hours later, he comes back carrying a case of Fosters. Ricky says, 'Where did you get that, Jeff?' 'Shane's wife gave it to me.' Ricky continues, 'That's unbelievable, you told the lady her husband was dead and she gave you the beer?' 'Well not exactly,' Jeff said. 'When she answered the door, I said to her, "You must be Shane's widow".' She said, 'No, I'm not a widow.' And I said, 'I'll bet you a case of Fosters you are.'

Genesis P-orridge did appear on a recent podcast. Actually doesn’t sound too bad at the moment, although if you read the background P-orridge did go through a really gruesome surgery that the anesthesia wasn’t handled properly...

Roy Orbison reminds me of my nan. She loved his voice. I agree with her. This here is live, and you wouldn't think it given how pitch perfect it is. Neither would you think he performed this about 2 weeks before he died

He has suffered another hemorrhage and has received emergency surgery. Looks like it is the end after all. I'm so sorry we all thought he was getting better.

My mother was hardly there. I have very few fond memories. Plus she has been in a vegetative state for some time due to Alzheimer's. Not for that this affects me less.
