I think Shane McGowan actually died about 30 years ago but know one bothered to tell his liver, it must be pickled by now. I think every Christmas when I hear the fairytale of New York ‘How the fuck is he still here and he will definitely dead this time next year’ but Christmas comes around again and he’s still going. McGowan is indestructible.

Still going but understandably frail given age, according to folk when his birthday happened a few weeks back.

I don't know who Rikki Fulton is but I agree with everything else you've said. Starr was a childhood friend/rival of my mum's cousin. My great-aunt Evelyn used to babysit him [how's that for a lame claim to fame] and he was always a bit zany and hyperactive even as a kid.

Make what you will of this: Haji Abdikarim Hussein Yusuf, also known as Haji Warabe, the chief of chiefs of the self-declared state of Somaliland, has died. He was (allegedly) 122. https://face2faceafrica.com/article/somalilands-oldest-statesman-who-became-chief-way-before-elizabeth-ii-was-enthroned-has-died-at-122

Gianni De Michelis, former deputy PM (under De Mita) and Mani Pulite crook, dead at 78. As with many Italian politicians, he enjoyed the "good life" and in 1988 (while in government) wrote a guide to Italy's best nightclubs, based on personal experience.

When they are a decent size (like those seem to be), I spread some Crucials Hot Stuff sauce on them, add cheddar, mozzarella, tomato etc and bake 'em in the oven for 15 minutes. Lovely.

The death of Allene Roberts reported here means that the entire cast of The Red House (1947) and The Sign Of The Ram (1948) are definitely dead. IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0730815/ Two annoying details: Margaret Tracy is not listed as dead on IMDB for The Sign Of The Ram. However, she was the mother of fairly recently deceased Peggy Cummins, and as it turns out Wiki states Margaret was born in the 19th century and died in 1973. So I think we are safe there. The entire cast of the Lawrence Tierney movie The Hoodlum (1951) would be dead but for the lack of a traceable obit for one Richard Barron, who had a credited role and seems to have stopped acting in the late 1950s. Who knows? Otherwise, there's a number of bit part uncredited roles in her other films who are probably deceased but they'd need proper detective work.

She was a journalist with the Daily Record here for a number of years, I remember her well. Highly dispiriting to see the BBC put that to one side to do the "cancer mum" angle. Her actual career gets 1 throwaway mention. Soapbox...

Starr never really appealed to me. All a bit "Ain't I zany?" to me. I've never seen Davidson in anything other than Big Break, and he was overshadowed by John Virgo there. Manning's timing is great, but so was Frank Carsons, and Carson was able to judge the audience and tour/do TV to wild acclaim pretty much till the cancer got him. Ronnie Barker was a better actor, but Ronnie Corbett funnier (and more likeable?) and both worked far better not with each other. Alexei Sayle was hilarious, Ben Elton was not. All the puppet folk aren't funny, Rikki Fulton was (oh ye of little faith, Mr Willz! ) but I don't get Limmy. Modern comics are all a bit Michael McIntyre to me. Anyhow, funniest comic was Dave Allen. Right, thats enough hot takes. Yer right, entire things subjective.

There was a terrible fatal road accident near here on Thursday in Cornwall on A38. Sadly it’s my mates Mum who was the person killed. Just dreadful to wake up to read the heartbreaking news from him this morning.

Thoughts are with you. I have been in hospital holding the hand of my 90 yo Dad who was taken in on Tuesday. He is weak but they are giving him a broad spectrum antibiotic. He was able to speak to us before we left. Hope things improve for you @drol
