Thank you all! Really happy I pulled it off. Thank you to Wormfarmer for running this great pool, and good luck to Sir Creep as he takes on the challenge in August. I'll be sure to enter again.

When asked to explain the growing support for Fort William, Peter Murphy cuts to the chase. “Football fans will generally root for either successful teams or the underdog – and we’re clearly not successful right now.

Just watched the ITV Debate: Britain’s Next Prime Minister. That was just about the worst thing I’ve ever seen. Ever. The single worst thing. Not just politically, I mean out of everything. Jesus riverdancing Christ. Childish arguing, no real scrutiny for either of them, just Johnson doing nothing but being a gibbering arse tumour of a human being and answering questions by making the moronic (and entirely Tory voting or occasional Tory voting, apparently) audience laugh and forget what the question was, and Hunt just generally sounding like a 28 carat shite and failing to provide any detail (particularly about his “10 point plan for Brexit”, which he brought with him but never showed, explained or even touched on the content of it). Best case scenario, aside from both their chauffeur driven Jags crashing head on into each other on the way home, is that Hunt becomes PM and is at best only as shit as Theresa May. But I’m willing to believe that more than 50% of the Tory membership are morons, who’ll naturally vote Johnson because they haven’t the mental capacity for fear of this absolute weapons grade shithouse fisting this already broken country to the gall bladder with his sheer ineptitude. If you haven’t seen it but are planning to catch up on it, make sure you’re in a foul mood already so there’s no fucking comedown. Get on a plane, everyone in the UK. We’re buggered.

From memory, very few 747s were purchased as private jets and most of them were bought by/for middle east royals. Airliners used as personal or business jets tend to be single aisle narrow-bodies such as the Boeing 737 or Airbus A321. Manufacturers tend to put 'private owner' in their published order books. I'll have a dig and see what I can find.

Ok, let's simplify this: Clinton lost because she didn't pretty much didn't campaign in Wisconsin or Michigan and took them for granted (despite losing both in the primaries to Bernie "Anyone but Hilary protest vote" Sanders), and Trump campaigned the fuck out of them. Yeah she was shit but so was he but he won because he spoke to folk where the crucial votes were. He played the game. Whoever wins for the Democrats, never mind left/right, Trumps ratings, wars, whatever. If they convince the 40, 000 swing voters in the Rust Belt that they can deliver for them (like Obama and Bill Clinton convinced them), then they will beat Trump. If they cannot, they will not. Given the mid-terms results and pretty much all signs since, this *should* be an open goal. But we are talking about the Democrats, who seem allergic to scoring at times...

Oh, Hillary Clinton and most of the Democratic Party being left leaning liberals is absolutely dead wrong. No, she lost to Donald Trump because of a) she was running to the “center” to try to get some moderate Republican votes and pushing away left wing voters she needed to win the election b) the negative baggage she had on her due to her emails and her ties to Wall Street, and c) most importantly, Donald Trump actually campaigned to the left on some issues like trade (which was a lie by Trump), and he was able to successfully use that to portray Clinton as a puppet of Wall Street, which he’s actually right on (granted, he’s a pretty big hypocrite himself on that fact, but it still doesn’t change the fact that she’s also a tool of Wall Street). The bigger issue, however, is that the Overton window in the US is actually pretty right wing. The Republicans are a far right party, and much of the Democratic Party is center right, and the center right of the party included people such as Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and all those neoliberal Democrats. So maybe the bigger reason why we got Donald Trump is that much of what’s supposed to be the left wing of the country is actually serving Wall Street interests rather than the interests of the American people. Maybe if the Democrats actually served the people then maybe we wouldn’t have to deal with the idea of the lesser of two evils, or maybe our country would be in a much better place today than it is right now, but instead we have two parties who don’t serve the people and the Democrats wonder why they often lose...

Thanks. Can you remind us which order the categories are shown in, as I can never remember? Just a suggestion for next round: when opening the thread, post placemarkers in the first few posts, so that the scoreboard, teams and masterlist can be added later. Then everything will be on page 1 and easily findable.
