I was thinking the same thing only yesterday.

Biggest DDP lead since some young whippersnapper in 2014 iirc. Wonder whatever happened to that guy.

So, reading an interview with Giles Martin who remastered Abbey Road for reissue this year. One thing that surprised him, and a few Beatle fans apparently is how much of the original album was recorded live (as in live in the studio) and then given minimal overdubs. Amongst the tracks on which they're all playing together are some with the subtle and sensitive percussion - like Sun King - and a few tight little gems like Mean Mr Mustard. The point as far as this thread is concerned being they couldn't have done that with a dodgy drummer!

Unique pick for me on the DDP - pending a q/o, obviously.

The media are really pushing her. They all fail to mention her famous parents and privileged background. Her families concern ain't for the planet but for securing a financially healthy future for their kids. Like most of us I guess.

Awrite, this is getting a touch out of hand... Julie Gibson isn't dead. Being the oldest former Hollywood actress, enough people are keeping tabs on her that one of them would've noticed her death. I was able to reliably confirm with one of those people that she is very much alive. Top notch grammar, anyway, this is the most recent public photo of her - from 2004. Is it really that unheard-of for an elderly celebrity to stay out the spotlight? IMO it would be much weirder for the family to drag a 106yo back into it.

The Drop 40 bonus will be staying, I'm pretty sure. I think it has been very useful in changing the DDP for the better, making teams more likely to go for name celebrities or politicians instead of the nefarious cancer mums. It makes older A listers more viable for everybody. Other opinions are available. EDIT - Hah, ninja DDP host. Afraid I *am* a fan of the Drop 40 bonus!

Laura Ashley went out of print (via falling down a flight of stairs and getting a brain haemorrhage) today in 1985 aged 60. Interestingly, for someone whose very name is the epitome of Englishness when it comes to style, she was actually Welsh.

It feels hypocritical to complain about people not knowing all of the popular deadpool picks and then groan about how much of a nobody someone of clear repute with UK audiences is. I can't say I knew her myself due to age and location but she clearly was beloved by those who did grow up with her work.
