Aye, arguably by far the most successful person in living memory to make a good job of the difficult problem of being an ex-US president. I've a load of respect for him too. Arguably events did for him in a big way whilst in office - notably a botched attempt to rescue hostages which was based on the kind of plan that would have spawned a movie had it come off. If he'd succeeded in that likely modern history would have been different as Reagan wouldn't have got into the White House.

Tbh, I don’t really agree with him on many issues (I lean more conservative). But, I will always have respect for Carter. He always has seemed to be a good genuine humble guy.

And with Baker making it an even 10, the field of scores gets a tad closer, with a fair bit of movement in the table despite only 4 punters predicting this outcome. YoungWillz slips a bit but remains on top of the table for now, sitting pretty on 3 points; but with this chasing field, he could well be overtaken with just one more death. Joey Russ and Sir Creep both move up into equal second on score and into equal first on total hits. Those who predicted 15 total deaths go up by 2 points for getting within 5 deaths of the total, and Drol goes up by 1 point for getting within 1 death of the total. My current verdicts as we enter the final quarter of the year and with Ginger gone. Kirk Douglas - Think he'll see his 103rd and 2020 now. Olivia De Haviland - Should be fine for the 2020 starting line. Duke of Edinburgh - Slowly deteriorating but should last a bit yet. Leah Bracknell - Continues to defy the odds, could see 2021 let alone 2020. Vera Lynn - Accelerating health, don't think she'll survive the winter. Jimmy Carter - Not going anywhere soon but too old to be dropped now. Pierre Cardin - Quiet of late but his age makes him too risky to be dropped. Bob Dole - Looks like he will get a really high position in the 2020 list if he makes it. Henry Kissinger - Still making public appearances despite being unable to walk. Jerry Stiller - Quiet of late but could be worth dropping next year. Javier Perez De Cueller - Could go any time. Bob Barker - Somehow managing to cling on. Murray Walker - Still writing columns but too old to be dropped now. Emperor Akihito - Nothing new about his health, could be a risky drop for next year. Betty White - Could last a bit yet but too big to miss of course. Hosni Mubarak - Quiet of late but still young enough to take a DL sabbatical. June Brown - Still acting, worth dropping for 2020. Stirling Moss - Could go any time. Alan Greenspan - Wasted pick Dick Van Dyke - One of the most stupid picks ever, not going anywhere, must be dropped for 2020. Nobby Stiles - Somehow still clinging on, must be at least top 10 for the 2020 list if he makes it. Barbara Walters - Worth bringing her back for the 2020 list. Honor Blackman - Not been seen in public for a few years now, think she's a lock until she goes. Harry Belafonte - Quiet of late but should stay on the list every year now. Desmond Tutu - Looked really well recently with Prince Harry and his entourage, a worthy drop next year. Valery Giscard d'Estaing - Now outlived two of his successors, stood unaided at Chirac's funeral recently, I'd drop him for 2020. Ed Asner - Wasted pick. Vanessa Redgrave - Too early Jimmy Greaves - Needs a lot of care now, think he's a goner for 2020. Sidney Poitier - Worth keeping for next year. Cleo Laine - Still performing regularly but an interesting pick. I'd bring her back for 2021. Loretta Lynn - Looked reasonably well at a recent awards ceremony. I'd drop her for 2020. Michael Gorbechav - In and out of hospital lately, could well be a 2020 goner. Tony Britton - Quiet of late but too old to be dropped. Clive James - Should see out the year but must be at least top 15 for the 2020 list. Prunella Scales - Should last a bit yet. Little Richard - Either this year or early next year. Larry King - Could well be a 2020 goner. Tina Turner - Wasted pick. Shane McGowan - Had to be on the DL sometime but I'd bring him back for 2021.

When I was a teenager my mates would come round, I'd put some music on and usually someone would say...you paid money for this shit!? That was some time ago and nothing much has changed. Still convinced it's the rest of the planet that gets it wrong. But if you follow the marginal nut jobs and visionaries your place with regard to the latest music is constant, whatever age you are.

Gonna be conservative at this point and think it’s the typical 12 hits a year. Especially since all of the extremely likely hits have gone now (Hawke, Clegg, probably Wouk, and in hindsight McCririck).

I think we'll get more than 14 hits to be the 2nd best year ever.Bear in mind we only had one hit before May 13 when Doris Day died and there are lots of nonagerians and centenarians who've lingered on long past their sell by date. I have a feeling the last 3 months could be quite fruitful; ! I'm going to take a guess at 15 hits to end the year !

This didn't stop her appearing on Deathlist after her death, leading to one of the all time great DL posts:

There is often a period of intense activity which sees a close to vertical rise. The can come early but more often than not is mid year
