Random picture of Derby. Entries for the 2020 Derby Dead Pool are now open! Emails appear to be very slow sending out, if you haven't received one by, idk, tomorrow, let the Cmme know. I'll let our other members introduce themselves below, especially as they are doing the Data Entry bit, so you can shower them with bribes and likes... Rules are as before, but The Herald newspaper returns as a Qualifying Obit. As do the ITV local pages, which weren't already one on the 2019 list.

Can you please quit posting in the extra curricular thread for deaths? There’s already a thread for that topic right here:

It's been a fun two years but I'm leaving you in much more capable hands now. If there's any delay in the game getting up-and-running in the new year that'll have been my fault for missing some instructions somewhere-or-other.

Interestingly, last week we in the North American Scrabble community were informed former tournament champion David Gibson died 22 November of cancer. From Wikipedia:

Shelley Morrison, an actress with a 50-year career who was best known for playing a memorable maid on “Will and Grace,” has died. Publicist Lori DeWaal says Morrison died Sunday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles from heart failure. She was 83. Morrison played Rosario Salazar, a maid from El Salvador, in the original run of “Will and Grace” from 1999 to 2006, becoming part of a cast that won a Screen Actors Guild award for best ensemble in a comedy series. Thank you new showrunners for running the new show. Fingers crossed its better than the old show (from my point of view). Thanks Spade for the last two years (and indeed for his predecessors for the preceding years). I can confirm that my notification email was found where expected, and I'll therefore look in the same place for the final reminder towards the end of the month.

An Aberdonian husband walks into the bedroom with a sheep on a leash and says ... "Honey, this is the cow I make love to when you have a headache." The wife, lying in the bed reading a book, looks up and says, "If you weren't such an idiot, you'd know that's a sheep, not a cow." ... The guy replies, "If you weren't such a presumptuous bitch, you'd realize I was talking to the sheep."

Hello all, just to inform you, I will be updating the scores throughout the year. My work will start once the new database is complete. So I will not get to see the teams early, but I will also submit my teams a few days before the end of the deadline, just to avoid any kind of conflict with the competetive players who probably wait until the last minute. I'm currently thinking of submitting on the 28th of December. As I think about it, I wonder if I can keep up the rolling updates of Spade with the same regularity. I can assure you that there will be several updates per week, but there might also occasionally be two / three days without an update. I'll just do the technical stuff, and leave msc with the rulings on all critical issues .

The dead centre of Derby no less. Hi - I'm the idiot who thought the easy bit would be taking all the entries and entering them into the spreadsheet etc - once that's done in about July though (although perhaps I shouldn't joke till I've successfully loaded a few) I get to put my feet up and leave it to the other two. As I'm going to be seeing everyone's teams and entering them into the spreadsheet I've already sent my team to YW. Wish us luck (and accuracy and attention to detail and humorous obit writing and a solid IT platform...…)

Possible outcomes at this stage: 1) No more deaths: YoungWillz wins 2) One more death: - If it's Ed Asner or Sidney Poitier, YoungWillz gets even more points and wins - If it's Bob Barker, de Cuellar, Jerry Stiller, Kirk Douglas, Nobby Stiles, or Olivia de Havilland, then Banana wins - If it's June Brown, Prunella Scales, d'Estaing, or Vera Lynn, then Sir Creep wins - If it's Little Richard, Loretta Lynn, Mikhail Gorbachev, or Stirling Moss, then The Quim Reaper wins - If it's Barbara Walters or Bob Dole, then alt obits guy wins - If it's anybody else, then I'm pretty sure YoungWillz still wins (although there may be a joker somewhere that could upset matters) 3) 2 or more deaths remaining: No idea who wins, but Banana is in an excellent position with regards to this outcome, as he could potentially win on 14 total deaths even without making any more hits.

OK SC, thanks. No pay to play, I will cover the registration. We just need a bunch more folks to indicate interest before I do that. If it doesn't generate interest, that's fine- there's lots of action here. Just thought it might be something different for folks.

Source? Pictures? (no. actually. perhaps better not). I'm filing under 'roswell greys, faked moon landings and assorted jfk conspiracy bollox' until there's any, you know, any actual evidence.

Most of the 6 will probably be people who used to appear hear often once upon a time but do not want to be seen to be logging in and, consequently, feeling obliged to interact with anybody here. Probably.
