My Eurovision unique Franco Battiato will sing no more Italian music legend Franco Battiato dies aged 76 (timesofmalta.com) So, in a pool that should last about 2-3 years, I managed to tick all the boxes in 8 1/2 months, and still only managed to finish second, by about 5 weeks.

Bafta nominated and New Zealand born cinematographer John McGlashan died back on 1st April: https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/19313281.obituary-john-mcglashan-cinematographer-distinguished-career-cinema-tv/ Worked on everything from documentary series to Silent Witness and Monarch Of The Glen. He gets a mention here for two reasons: 1. Was a film cameraman on Face of Evil and the sublime Pyramids of Mars for Who. 2. IMDB don't seem to know he's dead. Edit: I see he got an Other Lives Guardian Obit a while back. Must have missed that myself.

This fucker would sell his own grandkids if it could buy him a few more years. Will probably die from a hair dye overdose.

I think he should have a fair amount of the credit for Leicester's Premier League victory. It started with the astonishing run to save us from relegation the previous season.

Italian President 2006-2015 and Senator for Life, Giorgio Napolitano (b. 1925) Frail after an aorta surgery in 2018, the popular pool pick and kingmaker in Italian politics will be 96 next month. His political career started in 1944, joined the Communist Party in 1945 and elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 1953. After he became the President of Italy in 2006 at the age of 80, he turned the role of the President of Italy from a ceremonial role to a very influential one. He was re-elected in 2013 at the age of 87 but resigned in 2015 at the age of 89. After that he has focused on growing more spots on the top of his head. Which one will go first, Napolitano or Berlusconi?

Ah yes, a mere youngster amongst the veterans (60 a few weeks back), and not greatly burdened with a high-profile post at present (apologies to anyone who thinks technical director of Derby County amounts to a notable pinnacle of football employment!)

re: Grodin. No-one has mentioned The Heartbreak Kid, as I remember it one of the great 'new Hollywood' films of the early 70s. I really must watch it again - in my mind's memory, it's linked with The Graduate.

What the fuck hapenned to this place. Dead as a dodo these days. Does anyone remember when this site was busy enough to troll? Like you'd actually get a reaction within a few minutes. Seems like all the good posters are either banned, or have left out of frustration. Unless your starting to die off.

They're actually giving people a choice between the firing squad, lethal injection or the electric chair. Why not let them name any method of execution they want? So if someone asked, they could be trampled to death by an elephant, thrown off the top of a high building, or have a lighted stick of dynamite put up their bum?

I actually think the ones I had to research I came up with a better selection of names than the ones I completed from existing knowledge

Time for a random name of interest from my longlist: Abd-Al-Minaam Khaleel (wiki), Egyptian Army general who was in command of the Second Army during the Yom Kippur War of 1973. He turned 100 on April 1st. Here's a video of him on the occasion. He looks healthy and gives a long speech at an event marking the occasion. Could be around for a while yet.

I'm working on it, but the categories are all some way outside my topics of interest so am struggling a bit.

Well, imo, if the British press cannot honour the contribution of their own, it's crazy. Take Sutton, out of public life for donkeys, millionaire, no real contribution to the country. Murdered, full obit. Also, a lot of these seem to be determined on the personal likes of the journos - I mean, a Spanish comedian who happened to be a meme? Tiny local jazz exponents in some godforsaken backwater of the USA? Shock G for gawd's sake? I've given up caring. I'll freely admit to finding some folk interesting, while remaining astonished at some of those whose obits seem only to be clickbait.

Hi people! I started playing Deadpool with my friends in Italy almost 4 years ago and since then you have become a second family to me, despite you never knew I was here watching you...sounded less creepy in my mind...well I wanted to show up and say how much I appreciate your work here, death is something we all have to deal with but the grim reaper is less frightening when you know what to expect and how to laugh about it...but most of all thanks for helping me winning the last two Deadpools, going for the third now

I don't think I've listened to Anne Nightingale's show this century, out of curiosity did a search on Youtube and am more shocked by the way she looks. Like someone cosplaying a mascot for the Grateful Dead.
