But wait, there's no more! He never made the "and its goodnight" team as I never realised until earlier this year that he was the Ron of Ronco.

Yes, it's more interesting to put together a resume for the likes of Schluter or Anerood Jugnauth than it is some of the ambulance chasing picks. Plus teams like yours and Willz and Predictor, its not just throwing darts at a wall, there's always some well thought out deduction behind your unique picks, or you'll spot some health news other folk miss. I'm not patronising (Intentionally anyhow!) when I sayI look forward to see them (and then their rational sometimes!) as much as some of the big hitters teams each January 1st.

Hopefully caring for guinea pigs instead of children shall make a smoother ride for me! That is until I start asking them to review my obit drafts and all they say is "weak weak"...

Apparently he used to voice Brain on Arthur, and I can’t seem to view that show the same ever since.

As a general rule I only create threads if the person is famous enough and ill (see John Hume, Fenella Fielding). Although you can find exceptions for Tom Baker (but again, had health issues apparently), Ringo Starr (done to wind up Deathray) and Werner Herzog (fuelled by whisky, though he IS awesome). The original Upstairs Downstairs is basically Downton Abbey but good - her and her friend Eileen Atkins came up with it while working together on stage iirc. One episode which stuck with me involved one of the younger maids suffering a nervous breakdown and Rose (Marsh's character) being the one trying to help her before the inevitable tragic conclusion. Marsh is sensational in that one, she could play tragic drama as easily as being a Nazi spy, an android (Twilight Zone), or Morgana from Merlin (twice). She did serious theatre, costume drama, US TV, and kids TV alike whenever there was a free spot in her busy diary, and never looked down on any of them as being beneath her.

I'd guess Nate Odenkirk is some relation (son, I believe), so would be in a position to know; response from Michael McKean would also indicate authenticity/reliability.

While I had little to say about Douglas Cramer (this does happen sometimes with 400 odd obits to write), I did add a little quip in there for you about our respective success in this years DDP!

Heh, always next year, as they say. Admittedly I say that around midday on January 1st when I see the opposition!

@msc Hey if I'm goin to be an also-ran, might as well be a stylish also-ran. Unfortunately, I think that was true last year, but unless people start falling off the perch, it won't even be stylish!

Well I take my hat off to you both in general for your obituary work on the DDP and in particular for some of your excellent and kind write ups for my unique Crumble team 'hits'. I was absolutely delighted when I read the Poul Schluter one and think your summary hits the nail on the head! Very unlikely to win but a talent for esoteric off the radar unique picks ! I like to think my three esoteric leaning unique pick heavy teams contribute to the overall enjoyment of the game ,more colourful, interesting etc rather than being a big part of the competitive furnace of the game! Thanks again

And in about 18 months time, Future Me - "Oh wow, Mario Adorf is still alive, I better write that down somewhere!"
  21. 1 point
Oh yes, a real A-list celebrity in our countries. He certainly lived, ate and drank well, but looks very fit for his 90 years. I could imagine he would live a few more years. I agree with @msc on that

Not a death but I thought it might amuse Book and Reptile that I'm tidying up my long list and found I had Mario Adorf's name down FOUR times. Which means four times since 2012 I have seen him crop up in something, googled him, gone "Wow he's still alive" and written his name down, not remembering I had already done it several times before! Whereas he's apparently 90 and still acting.
