I have always thought of you and got the impression you are a highly skilled veteran consieur at deadpooling based on your forum posts although I haven't examined your success rate too much. I'm genuinely surprised you are on nul points but two points. The year isn't over, so a deluge in autumn is still possible but also perhaps this year you've just been unlucky. I think it happens to the best of deadpoolers. But I have always assumed admittedly with little analysis that you are one of the gold standard players on this forum.

Motorhead style dominos to come, imo. The DL will pick one of Keith or Jagger in 2023 when they are 80 (probably Keith) only to see the other die, knowing sods law too.

NY Times and various other outlets reporting the death of Col. Dave Severance (wiki), aged 102. Commander of the marine company that raised the giant American flag over the Japanese island of Iwo Jima during World War II. Would later go on to serve in the Korean War, before finally retiring from military life in 1968.

Helen Nicol (wiki) dead at 101. No idea who the oldest AAGPBL player is now, possibly Betsy Jochum (wiki) who turned 100 in February. There are still quite a few around.

imo 1940s music stars is going to be the next big source of deadpool picks alongside aging footballers. Survival wise, I have a similar view of Grace Slick, who is somehow 81 these days despite her well documented vices. It's like that recent Scorsese film The Irishman says - sometimes those who assume they'll live fast get old and arthritic!

2 hits from 60 so far? That's got to be at least 10 feet up the mountain. (Hey, my Christie theme team has given the gift of life to folk. Nul points. I do like most of the folk on it, mind you!)

I think at least one will go within the next few years and I expect to see their names increasingly pop up in deadpooling. But I agree it's amazing they are all still standing especially with some of the excesses I imagine some of them indulged in! A lot more fortunate than the beatles who lost two members before the age of 60.

The thing that makes Carter's presidency interesting to me is just how much a product of its time it was. Presidents like Biden, Nixon, or Reagan ran multiple times before winning. Obama, had he not won in '08, would probably have been a top-tier candidate for decades to come. By contrast, the sequence of events that leads to Carter's presidency seems pretty intimately tied to him winning in the first post-Watergate election. The ideas he was running on and the image he presented were very much geared towards the moment. He was an obscure former governor from a state that was relatively unimportant at the time and somehow catapulted to the White House (where he was, arguably, in way over his head from minute one, but few politicians probably could have navigated that time very well). The Carter presidency seems like a historical oddity, like it shouldn't have even happened. The fact that '76 was so close and he was thrown out in a landslide four years later almost adds to this for me.

List from 29/12/20 updated to 3/8/21. Possible that one or two others have done a Godfrey James and since died off radar.

Strange, I agree. Seemingly no real announcements or obituaries. It’s particularly odd that neither Stanford University nor the American Psychological Association have acknowledged anything as of yet.
