Statement from Walker’s Shortbread announcing the death of Joe Walker OBE. Died on 7th October, aged 83. Somewhat of a legend in Scotland. Grew the company from 20 employees to 1700.

Whilst self-evidently good picks, if some of these people had turned up on the real deathlist (which i believe was the point of the original exercise) they would have been met with a chorus of 'not famous enough.'

@CaptainChorizo gets off the mark @BuffaloPhil gets a fourth hit, his second in the Star Trek category but @msc moves into a winning position with a fourth hit in a fourth category. Needing only a cabinet minister to complete the game but so far this has been the slowest category and none of the games so far have ended with just one player in a winning position

She wasn't "famous" per se since Animators work behind the scenes, and even the most notable people in the field don't become household names. However she was notable/respected enough in her field to be made a Disney Legend years before she become fodder for deadpoolers.

This is why I'm curious as to whether TCM will include her in their annual tribute. She wasn't a lead animator by any means whatsoever. Yet I get the impression those compiling the tribute may think "111? She's too cool not to include!". Advanced age definitely tips the notability factor to a great extent. If either Norman Lloyd or Marge Champion had died at 80, I honestly doubt we'd have spoken about them much on here bar maybe a passing mention of their deaths.

Think Marge would have got a Q/O level of coverage no matter what her age as she was fairly famous in her day.

I'd say no. Never heard of her till I found this site. Doubt this gets much coverage in the media besides the usual circles. In fact, I doubt she'd get much of a obit, at all if she wasn't so old. Disney legend of course as well, but in America that isn't something most know exists nor care about.

Warren Clarke would disagree, if he weren't already dead of course.

DER BOMBER DAS BOOTED! 12/50 15th August 2021 Gerd Muller, one of the most successful strikers in football history, has died after a long battle with dementia aged 75. Gerd Muller played 15 years for Bayern Munich, during which time he scored over 400 goals and won four Bundesliga titles, 3 European Cups and 1 Cup Winners Cup. He was top scorer in the German top flight 7 seasons and won the Ballon d’or in 1970. As a German international, his stats were insane, 68 goals in 62 games, and he was a crucial part of the 1970 and 1974 German World Cup sides. In fact, Muller scored the winning goal in the 1974 World Cup final. Gerd Muller also won the 1972 Euros. Muller remains one of the greatest goalscorers ever to play football, a man who retired from international football aged 28, who was still knocking in dozens in Florida aged 37 and semi-retired. Even today, genuine legends like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have had to play considerably more matches than Muller did to surpass his records. Der Bomber was the 12th success for the 2012 Crowdsourced List.

WE CAN'T SEE CLEARY NOW THE WRITERS GONE 8/50 25th March 2021 Children’s author Beverly Cleary has died aged 104. In her childhood she had struggled to read and viewed the books her schools lumped on her as not having any people she knew in real life in them. In the 1950s, she set about writing stories about the sorts of worlds 1950s kids would recognise as their own. She wrote about Henry Huggins and his dog Ribsy, and spun off into a successful series about his neighbour, Ramona. She published her last book in 1999. Clearly revolutionised children's novels in the US, turning them from the staid old Victoriana into the normal kid next door has adventures plots you can recognise all over American media nowadays. In this way she set the path for everything in her wake from Cubs at Play to Stranger Things. Modern greats like RL Stine and Judy Blume called Cleary their inspiration. So it is perhaps a bit ironic that the children's librarian once pointed to the Ramona books as a suitable friendly alternative to the Goosebumps series. If you live long enough, everything subversive and new becomes an accepted part of the old tradition. Look forward to Twilight being recommended instead of that new rubbish by school teachers in 50 years time. Beverly Cleary was the 8th success for the 2021 Crowdsourced list.

Obituary. Died of pneumonia likely caused by the dust raised by the works to build a supermarket in front of her house. Another one bites the dust.

Crossposting. Eddie Paskey (wiki), who played Lt. Leslie in the original Star Trek series, dead at 81. Other than the 4 surviving members from the main cast (Shatner, Nichols, Takei and Koenig), I think he probably had the most appearances in TOS. Good opportunity to note that Bob Herron (IMDb), a supporting actor from the series, is still about. 97 next month.

She was a member of the RSC. Yes she did a lot of kids telly but that should not be sniffed at. Making good kids telly that adults can watch without screaming is quite hard. Find an episode of The Ghosts of Motley Hall on YouTube and see a Masterclass.
