It never ceases to amaze me how often this fact is overlooked. I believe Charles was quoted in the BBC article that, "It's not quite as easy at 95. It's hard enough at 73".

Maggie Smith interview from May. Turns 88 next year, but I reckon she's got another few left in her yet. Robbie Coltrane recorded message for a fan, again from May. Looks okay. I still don't think he'll see 80 though. For the record, couldn't find any recent clips of Michael Gambon. Make of that what you will.

Enes Kanter- The NBA player has been outspoken against President Erodgan and would be imprisoned if he went back to his native Turkey due to his political activism. He has also criticized the Chinese Govt and called the leader of that country a brutal dictator and led protests in the Usa to stop the Uyghur slavery/genocide in that country.

Jazz songwriter Dave Frishberg dead at 88. Wrote "I'm Just a Bill" for Schoolhouse Rock! and "Van Lingle Mungo", with lyrics consisting entirely of the names of 1940s baseball players (one of the namechecked, Eddie Basinski, outlives Frishberg).

Star Trek Discovery is off Netflix now and moved to Paramount+. Another new streaming platform. I'm pissed off. Guess i'm going to pirate it from somewhere because no idea what else is on Paramount+ to make it all worth buying a subscription. I already have subscription to Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime and Britbox.

He was also good enough to cover up the cracks in RTD's writing on first watching. Possibly the best actor to have played The Doctor - not necessarily the best Doctor but a fantastic actor

I realized that when Kane Tanaka was born on January 2, 1903, a person born in 1700 was still alive, Margaret Ann Neve.

Last month, Horst Eckel, the last living 1954 champion, had hip surgery, which was then kept "secret" (i.e. not sold to every newspaper), now he's walking again. Franz Beckenbauer established contact with the specific clinic: https://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/fussball/horst-eckel-89-54er-weltmeister-nach-operation-in-reha-klinik-78014006.bild.html

I have to make a correction, file this under....oops... Michael Graydon, the Irish poker player, is not the Michael Graydon, poker player with terminal brain cancer.... Sorry! I think this is a bit of a disqualification for most pools.

It's weird. For once, this obit of Mario Camus, that also mentions the death of Alfonso Sastre, doesn't exist for uk.news.yahoo: https://au.news.yahoo.com/spanish-film-director-mario-camus-135829645.html That said, there are other uk.news.yahoo obits for Mario Camus, but these DON'T mention the death of Alfonso Sastre. I mgith be missing something here though, but it seems, this one is a very, very close miss.
