    British Character Actors

A mate has started this rather wonderful tribute site to the lesser-known but often supremely talented bit-part players of stage and screen. http://familiar-unknown.blogspot.co.uk/ A few good names in there for end-of-year lists

Country For Old Men (And Women)

OK, we've got the Old Bluesman thread, the Old Folkies home and the Jazzers. Here's a new 'un for the Kings and Queens of Country, rednecks, crackers, lonesome wolves and rhinestone cowboys. Kicking off with Kitty Wells, who I was very suprised to learn was still alive, 89 years old. I really like her version of Dylans "Forever Young"

    Death By Jazz

Following on from the seperate threads for the folkies and bluesists, here's one dedicated to the art of 5 men with beards playing different tunes at the same time. I'll open (and then improvise around a dorian scale over a Bbmin blues progression) with Cecil Payne , Baritone saxophonist, hitting the last bar. Ba-dap-da-da-dap

    Didn't Wake Up This Morning...

Being a thread for ancient bluesmen... Honeyboy Edwards Done got old...90 years old. Hubert Sumlin 74

    Professional Cyclists

With The Tour de France approaching, let us turn our minds to the premature deaths of the competitors, either from falling off an alp , overdose , heart failiure after prolonged EPO abuse, or plain and simple (slightly less spectacular than the Formula One crashes on Youtube, but in its' own way far more heartbreaking.) So who is the next pedalling chemistry experiment to go? Eric Zabel is my guess, recently coughed to blood-doping and is not a specialist climber, so may find it hard to resist a little 'help' when confronted by a 1 hour climb up a goat track.

    AC/DC

With the mighty 'DC back on the road again this year, and their fine album 'Back in Black' set to become the biggest selling album of all time, what chance another rock and/or roll casualty from the worlds favourite Autonepiophiles ? Perhaps another vomit-induced snuffing, or the old standby of narco-induced heart attack (they're not getting any younger.). Not for them the ignominy of a bizarre gardening accident.

    Dave Davies

Dave Davies (brother of Ray) From The Kinks has had a series of strokes. Details are patchy, but worth watching for next year.

    Bob Moog

Bob Moog apparently has an inoperable brain tumor. The man is a genius, and I for one am sorry to hear this news. (Buy the Bob Moog Doll!)

    So what did you expect...

Death list potential? Or just a silly bugger

    Sister Wendys' Odyssey

Heard the old nun on the radio this morning. Sounded OK, but... Born in 1930, history of poor health since the 1970's, series of heart attacks around 2000/2001, not to mention her relentless hedonistic lifestyle. Opinions?

    Ivor Cutler

Ivor Cutler has died Which is a great shame. Unless you had him in your DDP and Deadlypool teams. chuckle.

    Low-hanging Fruit

OK, so it doesn't deserve a thread of it's own, so I'll create a related one but last night was the mawkish travesty that is the Pride of Britain Awards, aka Harvest Festival for lovers of low-hanging fruit. Celebrities 'pay tribute' to the 'ordinary people' who...oh you know the score, plenty of under-age DL fodder for the less morally-obliged amongst us. SEE! Various soap opera actresses weeping at dying children. HEAR! The heart-wrenching stories of one-time minor pop stars as they try to get back into the 60-yard long sh*t filled trench of fame (thank you Steve Albini.) GASP! As super-annuated has-beens pretend that they'd rather not be enjoying a 5-course dinner with wine at The Ivy.

    George Cole

Pushing 80, Never been the fittest of men, not sighted recently, even in a Alan Bennett 'let the old duffer sit down' role Worth a punt for next year perhaps?

    Christopher Lee

Veteran Actor, soldier, singer and golfer Christopher Lee is 86. Still working, darling but for how much longer ?

PANIC! A dark day for Dunny and a dark day for Deathlist.

    Tony Hart

Tony Hart, couldn't get any info on his age but was in WW2 making him at least 78.

    The Monkees

    ...and The Devil is six...

    Christopher Hitchens

I liked Christopher Hitchens going in all guns blazing on the Republicans and the Religious Right. There were a few sharp intakes of breath when he described McCain as becoming increasingly physically and mentally disabled. The Onion.... Nation Finally Shitty Enough To Make Social Progress

    Jerry Lee Lewis

Hmm, that post doesn't look so good out of context, ne'er mind, kudos to 'Arry for a worthwhile thread. I'll try to knock together a list of obit-worthy rockin' types if I get the time/can be arsed.
  20. Anubis the Jackal

    Jerry Lee Lewis

Sorry to swerve back on topic for a moment, but a gut feeling is telling me that the baddest man ever to pound the ivories, Jerry Lee Lewis, may be not long for this world.

    Dead Drummers

Talking of which, Ringo looked a little gaunt being interviewed about some bloke who died a few years ago on today's Channel 4 news. Not 2012 material sure, but worth keeping an eye on.

    Gaddafi Guesses

Blimey, that was quicker than I thought... Gadaffi flees to Venezuela says odd little bald man.
