    6. Ethel Kennedy

Ethel Kennedy was in close personal proximity to two of American societies most dramatic political events of the twentieth century. The assassination of her brother in law US President John F Kennedy and right by the side of her husband Bobby Kennedy when he was shot dead in 1968 during his campaign to become the second Kennedy President. The first of these events particularly was burnt into the fabric of America's national consciousness to this day. Ethel was right there as one of the few remaining witnesses to this unique historical era and it's dramatic events. Not just a witness to history but a part of history alas even if she is often overlooked nowadays given her choice to rarely speak to the media. Had events been different she stood a very high chance of being American First Lady. She was a key member of what's often referred to as Camelot, the era of the Kennedys political prominence. Only Ethel who turned 89 a few weeks ago and Jean Kennedy JFKS younger sister who was high school friends with Ethel are the remaining surviving members of the "original clan" and that era in their family. For all of the above reasons I feel she requires and deserves a thread of her own. A number of her many children and some grandchildren are still involved in US politics carrying the Kennedy family torch into the next generation. I personally find her a bit of an enigma yet more interesting than Jackie Kennedy /Onassis who's strongly rumoured to have had a love affair with Ethels husband Bobby Kennedy. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethel_Kennedy
  2. I've got a very strong feeling and sense that 2021 is going to be just as much a watershed, landmark end of an era kind of year as we embark further into the 2020s. I think an unusually high number of big and significant names will finally pass away in 2021. Perhaps even more so than in 2020.A year we can all see as being a big and unusually significant year for celebrity deaths with icons, legends and big names like Vera Lynn, Barbara Windsor, Kirk Douglas, Sean Connery, Stirling Moss, Olivia de Havilland, Nobby Stiles, Diego Maradona, Jack Charlton and Ruth Bader Ginsburg dying. Anybody get the feeling that 2021 in terms of not just official deathlist but wider deadpooling of famous people is going to be another unusually momentous end of an era type of year? Yes I know many will be sceptical despite the enema 'succeeding' in terms of this years famous deaths and will not keep the faith but indulge an irrational fetish for clear minded analysis and faithlessness in 2021 despite a proven track record but I really feel my prediction and sense of the year ahead is just as accurate for the year ahead as it was for the past year. I think doubters and sceptics will be confounded so please keep the faith and an open mind with regards to the enema!

  4. Thought it would be a good thing to have as a counterbalance to all the discussion on deaths and ill health to have a thread dedicated to the reporting of births of new life to celebrities and famous people https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/12067247/lauren-pope-gives-birth-baby-girl/ We start of with the birth of a baby girl called Raine to ex TOWIE reality tv star Lauren Pope.

    Loretta Lynn

Felt it was time that arguably one of the legendary Queens of Country and Western music singer Loretta Lynn who recently turned aged 85 had her own thread. Definitely one of the big name figures from this genre of music and she's still touring to this very day! Some random facts about Loretta She was a big supporter and friend of George Bush and his wife Barbara. Campaigned and sang for them when he stood for US President. But she apparently loathed Ronald Reagan and could not bring herself to like him. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loretta_Lynn Has been in the music business for nearly sixty years

Julie Goodyear - Coronation Street legend

I thought it was way over time that Coronation Street legend Julie Goodyear who played soaps ultimate brassy barmaid and feisty pub landlady Bet Lynch was given her own thread .Bet is synonymous with Britain's longest running TV soap in its heyday and has become one of the shows most well known and widely recognised characters despite having never appeared for years .She occupies a very unique place in soap history whether you are personally a fan or not. The fact she is a heavy smoker of decades and is iner seventies and visibly struggled in one of her more recent media appearances and had to be carried onto the set of a TV gameshow makes it timely and apt in my opinion that she has her own thread in place. She is not just any old run of the mill soap star she is an iconic Soap Queen. https://goo.gl/images/JMRPUQ PS I seem to have lost my knack of posting photos can anyone kindly please oblige or advise ?Thank you.

    Ideas and possibilities for 2025

I was reading some discussions of this years Oscars ceremony elsewhere on the Internet and a few people pointed out that Warren Beatty was not with his Oscar nominated wife Annette Benning at the ceremony. Might be something. Might be nothing but definitely worth mentioning.

  17. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_Collins Genuinely surprised that the legendary Joan Collins doesn't have a thread of her own. A household name whose fame was iconic in the context of the 1980s thanks to her role as superbitch Alexis Colby /Carrington in American soap Dynasty. First went to Hollywood around 1950 and starred in well over fifty films and became part of the Hollywood social scene. Never quite became an a lister in terms of films like say Elizabeth Taylor or Shirley Maclaine but nevertheless is a big name in her own right and definitely needs her own space on here! Don't get me wrong if appearances are right she's got many more years left in her as she radiates vitality and being active. So much more to say but I can expand on all that in the thread.

    HARE'S DEATH POOL 2024

John Savident a 'hit" for me in this pool.
  22. Well tn my own defence and to add further to my point I did say significant notable deaths . I did not go as far as to say big name death. Whilst he definitely isn't a huge name in the sense of a Jimmy Carter, Pope Francis, Shirley Bassey or Robert Redford , he definitely isn't as small a name as some of those mentioned on here when people were making the argument that we are in a dry spell. I think the amount of media coverage his death has had reinforces my argument. Strictly is one of the UKs most watched TV shows. Its level of viewership is one of the unusual exceptions to the rule in the fragmented, diverse multi channel digital TV era.Anyone who works or worked in a front of shop role as a presenter or professional dancer in one of the UKs most popular TV shows is a significant death in popular culture regardless of name recognition. Nowadays lots of people don't watch TV soaps and those that do many don't know the names of the shows actors just the characters but their deaths would definitely be regarded as significant and notable. Strictly has more viewers than any of the TV soaps. Just my thoughts.
  23. Dont panic - I don't and and if I did I'd make an excemption / exception for you!! Hope your back to good form soon.
  24. I would argue the sad deaths of Strictly dancer Robin Windsor and world cup footballer Andreas Brehme ends the dry spell of significant notable deaths some have been talking about.
