    Death Anniversary Thread

German physicist Georg Quincke died exactly 100 years ago today (89). Quincke's ‘Interference Tube’ is an apparatus that Quincke built in 1866 which demonstrates destructive interference of sound waves. This would lead to our modern day automobile muffler, well after his death obvs.
  3. I can understand why someone might not care for Black is Black, but it baffles me what someone could possibly have against Gimme Some Lovin’. I could see if your mother was murdered while playing a Hammond organ why you might be triggered, but that has to be a very small subset of humans, doesn’t it?

When they said Gimme Some Lovin’ they meant vote for The Lovin’ Spoonful, if that helps.

    DL Dead Pools

It’s 12 January, where the hell is the thread for Inverse 2024. Even if it’s not ready to go, the thread should have been made.

    DL Dead Pools

He's a gold medal boxer I'm not concerned about an obit. You can change people midstream? I gotta learn rules of all these DPs, someone should post them all in one link called DL Rules or summat. SC

    The Dead of 2024

Excellent find. But where is this obit a hit — what is your rule lol?

    Dance Music/Club DJs/Electronica

The fuck, @Spade_Cooley?!? Of all the people to do this…I guess leaves SirC as the only fucking DLer with a shred of integrity left. To say this is superfluous doesn't do justice to the word superfluous.

    Winter Olympic Deaths

What are you on about? I found the added info interesting and quite frankly YES, if you’re going to post an obit and leave out extremely pertinent info such as he was Sweden’s oldest Olympian, then take a lesson on sting obits. Feel free to pick on me ya cunt, and leave wee useless diego be. I’m guessing the four ‘likes’ you got were also from incapable obit posters, but I’ll never know.

Authors Last A Long Time, But....

Author and critic David J. Skal, 71, died January 1, 2024 in a car accident in Los Angeles CA. As a critic, Skal was an expert in horror cinema, Dracula, and vampires in general. His non-fiction includes Hugo and Stoker Award finalist Hollywood Gothic: The Tangled Web of “Dracula” from Novel to Stage to Screen (1990).

“I won’t turn myself in”. We should start a poll for when he turns himself in. I’ll say 15 Jan 1:00pm local

    Political Frailty

Local city council members seem pretty low on the political spectrum to be included herein, basketball playing aside. If they were DL Cup entries perhaps, seeing as they got sone run; but otherwise damn near any political office can be posted and is that a policy we want to set? Oh look Ombudsman Jones died!…

    Seen Any Good Films Lately?

Sorry to hear you didn’t like it. Many I know, self included, enjoyed it. Waking Ned, though, it wasn’t. I don’t pay heed to awards shows as an indicator of quality or an absence therefrom indicating the opposite.

That’s how I feel each day I sign onto Deathlist.

  19. @Paul Bearer hates anything black. Or Hispanic.
  20. There’s a 0% chance the Stones classic doesn’t advance. Relax.
  21. The song isn’t even on their Greatest Hits album, ya twat! Speaking of compilations, have you any other gems we can include in the Worst Deathlist Posts of 2024? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Monkees_Greatest_Hits
  22. The top 7 are perfect, order aside. I really like the first 40 seconds of the Donavon song, and so did he—so much so in fact that he repeats those 40 seconds over and over, forgets to write a bridge, and put it out as a single. That’s next on SirC’s hit list once we get rid of the 3-4 trash songs on the bottom. If you’re a fan of the song I suggest you build up its points the next 24 hours, bc then ‘it’s on’.

Agreed, though…many times Wiki updste subscript will have the F1 source/link which we can use. They needed to take that extra step.
