Davey Nelson (NAMES I DON"T LIKE -- A GROWN ASS MAN GOING BY "DAVEY'), a Milwaukee Brewers broadcaster and former All-Star infielder who also coached in the majors, has died. He was 73. The Brewers say Nelson died Monday after a long illness. Nelson had coaching stints with the White Sox, Athletics, Indians and the Montreal Expos. He played in the majors from 1968-77 as an infielder with the Indians, Senators, Rangers and Royals. Nelson made the 1973 AL All-Star team after batting .286 with 43 stolen bases with Texas. SC

So I don't do Twitter, but I checked in on the good Sister and back around April 5-6 the announcement of her hospitalization is made and it's totally referring to her in the third person. I thought the whole idea of Twitter was the account gave you access to thoughts by ....well....them. Not some people representing their interests ('Ministry Against the Death Penalty'). In any case her Twitter account is rendered useless as to any information that can't be gleaned from the N.O. Times-Picayune. SC

I just reviewed Total B in depth for Cup purposes and his on again off again I’m getting better no I’m retreating into the abyss seems whiny and attention whoring to me. I didn’t see anything in recent tweets or posts that made me take him more seriously than before. Oh sure he’s in trouble at some point, medical history suggests about 1.5 years yet. BigBB you have a point that it’s about time journalists give credence to Internet personalities; but to date that hasn’t happened much, as QOs go. I do think TB would get one though. After reports last week that New England Confectionery Co. is near liquidation, a former CEO of Necco said he's willing to buy the nostalgic company … if he gets crowdfunding support. Al Gulachenski, who was CEO of Necco 2011-2015, said through CandyStore.com – part online candy broker and part news site – he needs a total of $30 million. He plans to raise $5-10 million himself and crowdfund the remaining $20 million from his GoFundMe page. Necco, famous for its Necco Wafers and Sweethearts candy hearts with slogans, has been manufacturing candy in the Boston area since 1847. Gulachenski claims Necco is the oldest candy company in North America. He says the private equity owners have announced they will close the company by May 6 if they cannot find a buyer. SC

Yeah it's 10 months old... In a freak mishap, a former Doordarshan anchor, who was taking a morning walk near a road close to her housing society, died after a coconut tree fell on her. The incident which took place on Thursday was captured by a CCTV camera installed at a nearby shop and the video went viral on Saturday. Kanchan Nath (58), who had sustained severe injuries after the tree fell on her, died this morning, confirmed her husband Rajat. Sir Creep wouldn't post without giving you the video. Enjoy.

So why do you think that old obits pop up in currently run searches? Is it a new edit or summat? Who would be editing an obit from X years ago? Just trying to figure out how they pop up in my results. I just ran a search limiting to the past 24 hours, and a few pages in I see Don Zimmer's obit, well by golly he's been dead a few years now (2014 to be exact), so why is it showing up? Is it that Google is actually a shite search engine? SC

Charlie Boone, the former president of Spartanburg (SC) Regional Medical Center, died Saturday, the hospital announced. Boone led the hospital from 1966, when it was known as Spartanburg General, until 1995. SC

Former executive director of the Fair Trading Commission (FTC), Geraldine Foster, is dead. Foster died last Thursday in Crawfordville, Georgia, after a brief illness. Having practised as an attorney in competition law for a number of years in the United States, Foster returned to Jamaica and joined the Fair Trading Commission as senior legal counsel in 1993. She was elevated to the top position as executive director in 1995. No age was provided in the obit. SC
