This story is a little old and probably fake, but what a laugh!
A drunken, raging Camilla beat up poor, old Prince Phillip!

5/50 ain't bad as we head into April. On track for 20 hits which is much more impressive than DL's been for a while.
If 5/50 is "not bad", then what do you call my 2/50?

Francis Cardinal George released from the hospital, feeling much better.
Just when I thought he'd be my 3rd hit...
-
I decided not to put Misao Okawa on my list just because she was only famous for her old age, but now I kind of regret it.
I mean, it's already April and I only have 2 deaths while pretty much every other person here on the forum has, like, 4 or 5.

It's the 10th anniversary of the death of Pope Saint John Paul II.
I hate how my fellow countrymen obsess over him so much.

I was thinking about making a DDP theme team for Poles in 2016, but I realized that many potential candidates such as Danuta Szaflarska, Franciszek Macharski and Stanisław Dziwisz probably won't get UK obits.
So I'll probably just make one overall for Slavs, since it will be easier to come up with famous names.

Aww, I was hoping she'd live to be 118 at least.
Anyways, I also expected to be the first to post the enws, so here is a link anyway: http://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/misao-okawa-oldest-person-world-dies-117-n333706
It's a US link, but I couldn't find any UK.

BTW, if nobody guesses the correct date, the person who was closest will win.

I'm looking out for Francis Cardinal George. At #30, he might be my 3rd hit of the year.

This is a question particularly intended for RadGuy, but others may know an answer as well.I've recently become interested in the Polish language. I encounter it regularly in my part of town. I searched on the web for a newbie course. There's quite a lot out there, but much of it is basic conversation; very useful, but not quite what I'm looking for. My primary aim is being able to read a Polish newspaper. Understanding spoken Polish and conversation are secondary targets.Any suggestions?
Give up. It's useless and extremely difficult. W Szczebrzeszynie chrząszcz brzmi w trzcinie.
...
Well, in all seriousness, there aren't many resources on the web. You could get a private tutor, or sign up for PolishPod101.
I'm actually interested in learning languages, and I'm satisfied with FrenchPod101. So I guess you could try the Polish version.

Okay, I think it's time to close the competiton.
Otherwise some sassy guest will come on and "predict" correctly right after Martin dies.
MARTIN CROWE 2015 SWEEPSTAKES: Closed
When will the winner be announced? When Martin dies you dummies!

I'm just asking out of curiosity - who didn't you recognize?Well, I guess it's not that bad.
Sure, if I were to make some DDP teams out of My Personal Deathlist 2015, about 10 people wouldn't get obits (e.g. George Ryan, the former Governor of Illinois). But that's not bad.
Looking at the list in your signature there are about 5 names that I do not recognise. Some US politicians do get UK obits but it wouldn't be guaranteed. But your personal list is just that and we would respect your right to post about anyone on it.
George Ryan, Marla Gibbs, Gov Pat Quinn, Richard Daley & Carol Burnett
George Ryan - Former Governor of Illinois, he was very corrupt and went to prison for a few years. He's 81 this year.
Marla Gibbs - Actress, starred as sassy maid Florence in "The Jeffersons". She's 84 this year.
Pat Quinn - Another Former Governor of Illinois. This guy was slightly less corrupt, but what can you expect in Illinois. I don't remember his age, but he is in his 60s.
Richard Daley - Wow, I included too many Illinois politicians on my list. This guy is the Former Mayor of Chicago. Also in his 60s.
Carol Burnett - I'm surprised you don't know her. She is a famous American comedienne. She's 82 this year.
-
I wasn't sure if I wanted to do it, but I figured what the heck, so I changed my vote from Zsa Zsa Gabor to Martin Crowe.
-
Since people are including the time, then I'll go for 1 April, 6:00am GMT

SWEEPSTAKES TIME!
I'll go for... hmm... 1 April.

"I bet you get this question all the time, so sorry if I'll annoy you, but why are only UK obits valid for the DDP? Can't you change it to English-language, or at least UK and US?"
And maybe French, German, Italian, Arabic, Chinese, Spanish and Japanese Websites?
And national news wires from Australien, Kiribati and Peru?
Oh come on!
I wasn't asking for Kazakh or Ugandian obits, just English-language. There are many respectable US news websites (ABC, NBC, CBS) and I think their obits should qualify.
-
Another possibility, Marla Gibbs (b. 1931) who starred as the maid Florence on "The Jeffersons" (1975-1985).
She doesn't have any known health problems, but she looks incredibly frail and also, The Jeffersons cast members don't tend to live very long.
-
I also have the Cardinal on a list but I'm not openly cheering his impending death.
SC
"openly" is the key word.

You could add Charlotte Rae (family history of pancreatic cancer), Robert Guillaume (diabetic, past stroke), maybe Katherine Helmond (age). Abe Vigoda (Fish) has previously been mention round these parts.I think 20th Century American Sitcom actors, directors, etc. should have their own thread.
Here are some possible candidates for the DL 2016, I have them on my personal list for 2015:
Bill Cosby (b. 1937), he starred in "The Cosby Show" (1984-1992).
Nanette Fabray (b. 1920), she starred in "One Day At A Time" (1974-1984).
George Gaynes (b. 1917), he starred in "Punky Brewster" (1984-1988).
Norman Lear (b. 1922), he created many sictoms, including "All in the Family" (1971-1979), "Good Times" (1974-1979) and "The Jeffersons" (1975-1985).
June Lockhart (b. 1925), she starred in "Petticoat Junction" (1963-1970).
Bill Macy (b. 1922), he starred in "Maude" (1972-1978).
Mary Tyler Moore (b. 1936), she starred in "The Dick Van Dyke Show" (1961-1966) and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" (1970-1977).
Carl Reiner (b. 1922), he wrote and starred in "The Dick Van Dyke Show" (1961-1966).
Oh, yes, I was thinking about Charlotte Rae. I'm already writing a list of potential candidates for my personal list in 2016, and she's on it.

Cardinal Francis George won't be attending Easter services.
Good news for me! I have him on my list.
