Is George Alagiah suffering from anything? I saw 6 O'Clock news on BBC last night and thought he looked terrible. I can find nothing on the web to suggest he is but if not why does he look so bad?

    Called it...

Cleared of cancer, returning to work on Tuesday.

"All I can say is right now I don't have cancer, but my life from now on will be punctuated by scans every three months," he said.

"And if somebody tells me I'm finally cured, it's likely to be years away."

Pizza chef threatened to kill co-worker over best way to make pizza in Darwin:

Magistrate Greg Smith told Cristoforo that "passion is sometimes a good thing, but running around with a knife is misplaced passion".

It's a bad idea to start a quarrel with a cook: s/he is armed with knives and knows how to use them.

True- I was once chased out of a steakhouse by an ex-military chef wielding a meat cleaver.

  3. Natalie Wood's a great shout, but if I could only have one it'd have to be the beautiful German actress Brigitte Helm. Or Steven Jay Gould, Rik Mayall, John Martyn, Friedrich Nietzsche, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Simon de Bolivar, Layne Staley, Tim Buckley, Billie Holiday, Arthur Rimbaud, or someone from my real life. Or, better still, Plato, but only so I could kill the cunt all over again.

Oh, it's too hard to choose just one person, so I guess I'd bring back some long-forgotten serf from the 14th century just to see the look of surprise on their face as they were resurrected into the 21st century.

I remember hearing about a polition that killed himself on TV

    This one?

yeah, the worst part was the fact that he was really innocent.

Yeah, the R Budd Dwyer story's heartbreaking. He was the patsy for the fraudsters. Killed himself because if he'd been indicted his wife and children wouldn't be entitled to his pension or any money. As he died in office, they were financially protected, if not protected from that awful footage or the infamy of the manner of their father/husband's death.

  5. Did anyone see the video the shooter posted to his Twitter before the account was suspended? He was there waving his gun at them for half a minute before he started shooting, and they didn't even notice him. Absolutely chilling.

There's a mother and daughter on the front of The Sun today who spent well over £50k to look like Katy Price. Just thought I'd mention them in case they go missing. In both senses of the word their disappearance would leave police looking for a pair of tits.

It's not so much that they've undergone plastic surgery, it's the line

"Georgina Clarke, 38, and Kayla Morris, 20, have had 26 operations between them using cash Kayla earned as a stripper and was given by a sugar daddy." That has me wondering what else is there that the Sun didn't report. They both looked a lot better before they embarked on this obsession.

    As did Katie Price herself.

  7. There is a wonderful moment in Inside Out when Joy knocks over two boxes containing 'opinions' and 'facts' and struggles to tell them apart.

There are a lot of touches like that but I think a large amount of it would go over the head of the intended demographic.

I end up watching quite a few animated movies and this was up there but I don't imagine it is one I would own on DVD. However I watched Howl's Moving Castle for the first time last week which was amazing.

Agreed on Howl's Moving Castle, one of Studio Ghibli's finest works. Spirited Away is the one that gets all the attention (first one to really impact on the Western mainstream), but HMC is that studio's true masterpiece.
