Just finished 'Passenger' on ITV. High hopes but sadly did the usual that every mystery drama does these days, didn't even try to have an ending. Just a load of things set up with little to no pay-off. Now I'm supposed to wonder about it for the next 2 or 3 years and then get excited when it returns with absolutely no memory what any of it was about because I've forgotten it all. Not that I even care all that much. There was a good show in there, a sort of weird Yorkshire Twin Peaks, but it just tied itself in knots and didn't commit to anything. So frustrating!

Thoughts? She's getting some grief because - apparently - Susan Hall's use of an emoji is a sign of deep disgust at Fox's tweet. (Irritatingly, you'll need to click the picture to see her response, which was the reason Jessica posted it.)

To be fair, my post was before the season had started! Antonelli definitely in the conversation, but it would be risky. Sainz definitely should be in everybody's thoughts for every possible seat, be that Mercedes or Red Bull replacing Perez. Would love to see Alonso in a race-winning car again, and Seb Vettel's said this week he's considered a comeback, but doesn't have firm plans as yet (a German at Mercedes again perhaps?). Danny Ricc looks a spent force at the moment unfortunately, seems a nice guy. We now have Bearman needing a seat for next season too (probably at Haas) and Lawson (at RB). Wait until summer, it could be chaos.

Agreed, at this moment in time I'll take any exit poll from "Hung Parliament, Labour largest party" to "Labour majority, landslide likely". Let's make sure the Tories lose first, then we can (hopefully revel) in the scale of defeat. And the problem we've got is even if Labour are the answer, nothing's going to change overnight given the mess they're in inheriting from the outgoing chancers.

First time looking in this thread. Lots of interesting points being made on all sides. Anyway, a recent example that I've come across is the new continuation of the X-Men animated series, X-Men 97 on Disney+. Disgracefully, they've portrayed a shape-shifting, troubled mutant character Morph (who has always morphed into both male and female characters) as "nonbinary". They're also changed his stock appearance from being a white male (as it was in the original series) to a white, undefined blob (even though this is an accurate comic book representation of the character). There's also controversy that Rogue's arse isn't as big and round as it was in the 90s (I kid you not - although that argument somewhat falls apart if you see how they represent Jean Grey in Episode 3!). The comics are literally an allegory for the civil rights movement: a group of marginalised people mistrusted by the general populace fighting for social justice and equal rights. Mutants are people too. People should be more accepting about differences. This was one of the most successful TV animations of the 1990s and there was not a single eyelid batted from the conservative movement! And they call us snowflakes... So, yes, the X-Men are woke. Shock horror.

Just saw a Conservative Party election broadcast from Ben Fucking Bradley explaining why we all really want Tory councils, not Labour councils. In amongst arguments that Tory Councils have more money (because their mates in Central Government funnel it to them) and that they have less crime (because people are less desperate in Bath than Blackpool astonishingly) there was a sly little xenophobic dig that you are more likely to be behind foreign nationals in line for social housing in Labour-run areas. Cunt. Looked him up as it said he's a 2024 Mayoral Candidate - apparently for the East Midlands Region. What I didn't realise is not only is he currently the MP for Mansfield but he's the LEADER of Nottinghamshire County Council! How the fuck can he serve Mansfield in Parliament and run a county-wide local authority at the same time?! Another one raking in as much as he can before the balloon goes up.

Today's 'i' says Michael Gove apparently mentioned November. But the strategy of focusing on improving economic news is not making any difference in the polls, which is, if anything, apparently getting worse. Local party chairs are telling him to "get on with it", saying it's only going to get worse. Grant Shapps apparently schmoozing quite hard to try and make himself the viable alternative to Penny and Kemi. But I'm not at all sure what the question has to be for the answer to be Grant Fucking Shapps.
