    The 18th death of 2020

    Leslie Philips

    Peter Sutcliffe

One of the only deaths on here that I'm pleased about. at least some good news for 2020. I also get genuinely angry when I think that when he was ill he could be taking up resources in hospital that could be used for good decent people. RIP to all the people he murdered, thoughts with those who he severely injured and to their families whose lives he destroyed.

    British Character Actors

RIP to a comedy legend. I did say last year that he would make a good candidate due to his age but some people thought he was still in good shape and we should wait longer. His last role appeared to be Paddington but on IMDB it says he has another role for 2020 in 'An Unquiet Life' He made an appearance in both Classic and New Who, Blackadder, Fawlty Towers. A Bond film, The Avengers and starred in numerous comedy classics like Butterflies and Reginald Perrin A great career. I think Bernard Cribbins really should make an appearance on the list next year but of course I hope he isn't an hit.

    Ideas and Possibilities for 2021

Yes I kind of forgot about him as well! I was thinking mainly of US politicians who weren't presidents as they belong in a seperate category - kind of like the French ones - Giscard d'Estaing being former President whereas the other two (Delors/Le-Pen.) are just very well known politicians that didn't attain the Highest office.

    Ideas and Possibilities for 2021

Sad to hear about Matthew Corbett's condition - he always seems a really good bloke and The Sooty Show with him in it was part of my childhood memories. Im kind of surprised Faithful is still here to be honest - she seems to have had many ailments and addictions and has outlived many from her heyday.

    Ideas and Possibilities for 2021

Sean - I take it that numbers 37 to 39 are on the 'long Covid' Deathlist possibilities. I don't think they'll add George Shultz though unless either Kissinger or Dole go this year. There would be too many US politicians for the Committee.

    British Character Actors

I thought that would be the cause of death to be honest. Anyway still one of those shock deaths whilst some of the seemingly immortal Deathlist picks cling onto the mortal coil.

I did think she suddenly looked old and quite ill during Game Of Thrones. Just saw her in that new update of All Creatures Great And Small and looked like she was deteriorating but didn't think she would go this year at all. 2 of John Steed's companions gone in one year and also 2 leading ladies of Bond films. She was gorgeous in The Avengers and seemed like a nice woman. RIP.

    Angela Lansbury

I'd take her off the list in 2021 if I was in the committee. Looks great for her age and can see her living a few more years, maybe reaching the century. Glynis Johns would be a better pick IMO.

    Hollywood Possibilities

I don't think thats quite right. According to IMDB all of the main cast are now dead APART from Mark Russell who played Detective Saperstein in 107 of the 117 episodes. Telly Savalas, Dan Frazer and now Kevin Dobson starred in all the episodes whilst George Savalas (Telly's brother) was in 114 episodes. Vince Conti (died in 2018) was in 92 episodes. After these no other actor was in more then 12 episodes so I would say Mark Russell was one of the main cast even though he wasn't in every one of them. He was born in 1933 in Glasgow according to IMDB and his last role was in 1985 so no idea how he's doing now...

Ben Cross - actor in Chariots Of Fire dead at 72 according to Deadline..

    Vera Lynn

RIP to a legend. Just worked out that she was older then Kirk Douglas when she died at 103 years, 2 months and 29 days compared to a mere 103 years, 1 month and 29 days for Kirk. If I’m not mistaken she was probably the last surviving interviewee on The World At War series. Also, apart from her importance in WW2, will be remembered for the ending of Dr Stangelove when the bomb goes off..

Completely ridiculous decision by HBO. What a deranged year 2020 is turning out to be..

    The 4th death of 2020

After only just voting for De Cuellar as the third death only an hour ago whilst Kirk was breathing his last I now ( probably foolishly) pick him once again as the 4th death...

    Kirk Douglas

RIP Kirk/Spartacus! 18 appearances on the Deathlist as well - can't see that ever being repeated!

Thoughts and Opinions on the 2020 List

Only 9 on this list to go this year?! I can see 14 easily. Which ones do you think are definately doomed in 2020 then?
  22. RolandDeschain

    How many hits this year?

Thankee-sai I seriously think this year will be big. Quite a few from last year who I thought were definately not going to see 2020, let alone 2021 - plus as its a leap year there is an extra day which must mean something or other. plus any list with someone called Genesis P-Orridge on it must be good..
  23. RolandDeschain

    How many hits this year?

22 - an incredible amount of frail people on this list. At least I didn't have to pick 23 like last year!
  24. RolandDeschain

    Tony Britton

Yes - he is doing very well to get as far as he has. Some people thought that picture of him in the wheelchair signalled the end whereas others thought he looked OK (and wasn't that from late 2016?!) One of the reasons I mentioned Geoffrey is his last acting credit is Paddington from 2014 - he was working very steadily until then although maybe he just had enough and wasn't about to give up on life! I need to to be watching more of these documentaries for research purposes! Wasn't that where both the imminent fate of Jim Bowen and Leslie Grantham was predicted?
  25. RolandDeschain

    Tony Britton

Yep - he clearly did not. I always tend to pick very old choices for candidates as I like to play it 'safe' and think being in your 90s is just not tragic like when, say someone a lot younger dies like Leah. I think Tony's departure has made a perfect spot for Lesley Phillips to come back next year as he is also getting on (and was a surprise omission for the committee in 2019) - I don't think he has long left but people on here thought he would have gone years ago already! Or maybe the last of the sitcom giants of the 1970/1980s who is in his 90s - Geoffrey Palmer..
