American Football (And Other Yank 'sports')

I thought I owed it to myself to try watching a bit of this Superbowl thing on the good old Beeb to see what's what. I guess Americans would respond the same to a 5 day test at the Oval as I did watching this thing. I was mystified at the whole lot of it. Makes no sense at all to me. I'm probably better off not knowing. lol

Have to say it sounds like the classic death watch to me. Could be a few days depending on how fast the toxins build up and what steps they are prepared to take to intervene.

    Political Frailty

I think you could battle through most migraine conditions to cast a once-in-a-lifetime vote if you needed to. If a cancer ridden MP who can't even do constituency work can get there, Diane Abbot with a migraine could make it. Agreed. I don't know what game she's playing but there's enough gossip to convince me she was around and capable of going through a voting lobby to confirm her name. As a front bencher, she would not miss a vote of that importance. She's on manoeuvres of some sort. Time will tell.

    New Moderator(S)?

I've been a Mod on forums before. It's as boring as shite, no one wants to be your mate and you get crucified for having a sense of humour. Also, people expect you to be unreasonably smart or have a diplomatic skill to rival the Good Friday negotiators. On the plus side, Mods have their own little sub-forum where they stash contentious threads and slag off members they don't like. (That's assuming this forum uses the standard template.) You expect all bells and whistles when you get made up to Moddie but in truth all you get is an extra button here and there. I am sure whoever got the gig will find exactly the opposite, fingers crossed. This place is a lot more chillaxed than previous forums I've frequented. Resident trolls excepted but they seem to be behaving themselves at the moment.

I find it all bizarre asking for prayers. The poor guy is in a hell of a state, suffering terrible indignities and probably pain too. If it were my family I'd be praying he has some peace away out of it and it's not prolonged. Not wishing the bloke to die, of course, but he's not going to get any better. This is an unbeatable thing that can only get worse.

Found another obit for Mark Sims but again, doesn't qualify under the rules here. Evening Standard is a bit more than a regular regional newspaper... http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/mark-sims-junior-doctor-who-raised-100000-for-cancer-research-loses-battle-with-disease-a3449081.html

DL Status Updates: Statements, Obsevations & Verbal Tennis

Have no idea where's the appropriate thread for this, so this one was my pick.... Our town's resident homeless drunk type person passed away a few days ago. Stevie was a regular fixture outside the Co-op where he lived in his window bay, all hours of the day and night. During the summer, he would briefly wonder over to the park and sit there for occasional afternoons, but mostly he took root in his window and hated leaving for fear of missing the chance to sponge a few quid or a fag. Many, many locals, Church and authority officials went to enormous lengths over the years so give Stevie a better quality of life than the one he had fallen into. He repelled every single attempt to help him and much preferred the predictability and security of a bottle of own brand rocket fuel to anything others could offer him in the way of regular home comforts. He was, however, a jolly, approachable and cheerful man and if you took the time to speak with him, that time was never wasted. You always left with a different perspective on whichever topic was popular that day. This evening, on my way home, I paused to admire the growing pile of floral and other tributes to Stevie which have taken the place of his usual pile of precious tat in the Co-op window bay. It struck me, Stevie was looking down from up high, pondering the scene and going puce with rage. For the cost of all them flowers he could have gone out in style with a bottle of Napoleon's finest. Sod's law really. You have to die to be fully appreciated.

The rats are leaving the ship and it's only Thursday. State Department's senior management team walks. Donald J Trump

I would say there are many politicians and entertainers who are narcissists. True but Trump is on the extreme end of the scale, and also, sadly, managed to attract 'advisors' who know exactly how to manipulate them to push their own agenda.

    Donald J Trump

I am seeing more and more people openly refer to him as a Narcissist, which is interesting in itself as folks have concluded the cheese slid off his cracker and are trying to diagnose him. Most psychologists - well the professional ones anyway - swear an oath not to diagnose people they haven't taken first hand histories from, hence that's why you don't see any actual qualified head doctors raising the red flag on TV and talking about this condition. I am sure, though, there'll be a rush to talk to journos once he lives office I suspect... but I assure you they've all shitting themselves right now. The only arguments I've seen are whether he has secondary ADHD and Bi Polar, but he's certainly a Narcissist and operates in the classic way. Poor Malania is all I can say. At least we haven't got him pawing at our knickers too!

    Deathlist On The Net

Bloody tragic though, that a person's promised 15 mins of fame comes by way of a newspaper censoring an anonymous forum profile. Not much to show the grandkids, is it.
