Thanks to a few other members for pointing me there, I have just made my first ever list on RDP. I agree the choice was poor. I went for a couple I knew to be ill and the rest are just really old people. Couldn't think what else to do, if the names aren't there what can you do? A very good rule, said to me once, is if you wouldn't say it to your mate down the pub then don't say it. MK, I don't know you and we only have what you've shared about yourself to go by, but this contentious post (and one or two others I've come across), makes me feel you are young and trying get into the groove with snappy witty comebacks and getting it terribly wrong in the process. This forum does seem to have a high proportion of razor sharp comics and the urge to keep pace is strong I admit. But they, mostly, have been around a few decades longer than you and they've learned by their mistakes. MK, wishing anyone dead, even is jest, whether it's a mate or a stranger, is not a stylish thing to do. That's putting it politely. Other people won't be so polite. The mature thing to do would be to apologise, accept you made an error of judgement and I'm sure everyone will accept that and come away with a better view of you.

So sorry to hear about your loss. If you feel the need, the PDSA runs a counselling service for people who have lost a pet. They are highly skilled and trained. I can find more details if you wish to PM me. Losing a pet is perhaps one of the hardest of family life. While of course not comparable to losing a human family member, the pain still hurts. Some people will not understand. Sadly I do know how it feels. Take care xx

I'm fairly sure they do and are probably members as well. They'd be daft not to as where else can you find the fruits of dozens of people researching who is likely to need an obit in the near future? Not many places on the web death researchers share leads I would think.

If memory serves, only serving Monarchs get State Funerals as a matter of convention. Churchill was granted one due to the impact he had on the nation and the world but he was not actually entitled to one. Ceremonial Funerals are also quite lavish affairs as we know. I am struggling to accurately explain the difference between the two. I think it's something to do with gun carriages but can't remember. An acknowledgement they realise there's concern in the wider world. He went on to say she presented a member of the Royal household with an award yesterday. No pictures available. The Royal household must know there's deep speculation out there about her Maj and either they do not care or have easy no means to quash those rumours. I'm going with the latter. All they need do is flash her in front of a few TV cameras and the rumours would settle down again. Not happening though, is it.

Its bullshit. She is 90 and has a cold. As its winter she has remained indoors. Better she remains indoors than allow the paps a chance to snap a photograph of her looking slightly under the weather... Also, she looked fine in the Christmas Message the other day and that was filmed quite recently. I have to disagree with you. She looked pretty tired in this year's Christmas message if you compare it to her other ones and she looked like she was having some pain when she swallowed. You have a point, Lizzie. It's actually worth comparing this year's address to last year's. The difference is striking. This year she could barely muster the strength to smile at the end. We can assume that was recorded a few weeks before Christmas itself. They normally do it around mid November I believe. I also noted the picture on her desk this year compared to the whole array of family snaps the previous year. She's ailing, I'm convinced.

I'm a fairly new member myself. I'm not however, new to forums in general. Forums always have a liberal sprinkling of complete and utter ****s. As sure as night follows day, total t***pots sign up to forums. They can't help themselves. New members are always observed by older members with scepticism and suspicion for fear we are previous ****s returning the settle old scores. Best way, if you wish to stick around for the craic, is trust in peoples' ability to analyse who are the ****s over time. One day they will call you friend. Or not. I've been known to swallow the odd conspiracy hook line and sinker, I admit, so this comes with a caveat... I think the people surrounding the Queen have been trying to prepare the nation in subtle ways for some time. How many times are we told the Queen is stepping back from this that and the other? Compare/contrast to Phil the Greek, a full 5 years older, who has just been revealed as the 'hardest working' Royal of the lot we are told. No sign of him stepping back from anything that I know of. Evidence is the thing I tend to grope for at times like this (when I think I've drifted from the flock)... A few weeks back it was announced that the Queen was stepping down as Patron of 25 charities. That was a nonsense token gesture. She remains patron of 550 odd others, so what's that all about? We were told that both her and Phil have had the same 'cold' yet Phil rocks up for Church Christmas morning with a lot more gusto than I could have managed at half the age. Bare in mind, the pair of them must have had identical support and medical care. I agree and accept this cold bug has been flipping nasty as I know people who have had it, however, I think she's been ailing with something even before that so this cold on top would be highly serious. I am fully expecting Phil to outlast her. All the above may just be BS, only time tells I guess.

In truth I offered last minute to cover for a mate at work who'd been given a ticket to a NYE bash. Decided to enter this on my way home afterward.
