Tragic news from Germany this night, as 3rd-tier promotion hopefuls SSV Jahn Regensburg have announced the death of 25-year-old winger Agyemang Diawusie. Diawusie began his career in the RB Leipzig youth system, being loaned out to Wehen-Wiesbaden before leaving to join FC Ingolstadt. After another loan at Wiesbaden, he moved on to East German heavyweights Dynamo Dresden, where he played 30 times before a move to Austrian side SV Ried that didn't work out for him. He returned to Germany to play for Bayreuth in the German third tier earlier this year before securing the move to Regensburg, who had been relegated from the second tier last season.

Adam Johnson, a former Pittsburgh Penguins Center, has apparently died following a horrific accident in an Elite League match between the Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers. 29-year-old Johnson, from Minnesota, suffered a cut to his throat from an opposition player's skate and required CPR at the scene, prompting the arena to be evacuated. See the tweet below. So far, the only source confirming Johnson's death is a news-aggregating group on Facebook but imagine that official confirmation will come shortly or into tomorrow morning, the radio silence since it happened seems to confirm the worst. EDIT: Post on Facebook from his Mother confirms the tragic news. EDIT 2: Now confirmed by the Nottingham Panthers

Too young to remember Gordon McQueen as a player or even as a manager, but his reaction to the goals against France and Italy in the ultimately fruitless Euro 2008 campaign is one of the best videos. -
