Not if you include their spouses. Then it’s 2012

There are eight. Rusty Schweickart flew on Apollo 9.

He wasn’t in the iron lung 24/7. Read articles. It helps.

Why? Thousands of tourists go to Antarctica every year and have for several decades.

Every election there are some quixotic candidates, many of whom stay in until the convention. They’re delusional, or feel they are driving the debate. They don’t need a lot of money because they’re barely running. The Democrats tend to be more idealistic and have more kooks as a result. I wouldn’t read too much into it. That being said, I voted for Philips. I’m thinking of having “Don’t Blame Me” buttons made up.

Who here doesn’t?

It’s not two different threads on the same person. There is a generic happy birthday thread so people would stop wishing people happy birthday in their individual threads. It didn’t work very well.

You didn’t miss anything.

I think it’s worth mentioning that the world population has quadrupled since 1900. This increase coupled with the major expansion in types of fame in the last 100 years (television, social media, etc.) means there are a larger number of well-known individuals each generation. Some portion of these are going to die young and some portion of those are going to be well known. Also, as @Toast pointed out social media and the 24 hour news cycle means more attention is paid to these deaths than in years past. Get over your conspiracy theory that more young people are dying which we all know is shield for peddling your ridiculous anti-vax views.

People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...

Wikipedia now has a reliable source: https://english.berkeley.edu/news/remembering-lyn-hejinian-0 I met her a few times several years ago. She was a very kind woman. Makes me wonder about her colleague, Bob Haas. I hope he’s around for a while yet. -
Three people you wouldn’t want to be stuck on an elevator with.

We should make you a mod.

Is it just me or does there seem to be an disproportionate number of Scotsmen (and women I suppose) on this site?

Of late TOC is drifting into Sir Cunto territory.

Really? Would you please point to a single post you’ve made here that isn’t some iteration of “Biden has dementia and I don’t like Trump but he’s brilliant, good at business, and profoundly healthy.”
-
I think he’s probably at that age when a solvable medical concern causes weight loss and you can never gain it back. His color and speech seem much better than when he was having his episodes. I think he’ll continue his dark reign in the senate for some time to come.
-
I actually think he looks rather good, albeit on the special scale by which Senator McConnell should be judged.
-
I’d be better if there weren’t people like you on here who quoted an entire nine hundred word post to say they didn’t read it. You’re the forum equivalent of the morons who reply all to a listserv email.

Wouldn’t save him.
-
Then don’t fucking reply, you pointless twat.

He replies a full four minutes after being mentioned without an @ symbol.

Joe Biden was no one’s Secretary of anything. Please take the time you are using to comment here to educate yourself.
