What I didn't really understand is her saying that the treatment was preventative. Does it refer to something other than the form of cancer she already has?

I heard Dr. Gupta on CNN suggest it may have been used instead of the term "adjuvant" chemotherapy, meaning alongside the surgery. Probably to make the message more simple. In that case, the tumor was probably removed and the chemo is simply to prevent it from returning, as has already been suggested.

  2. Like Charles, no details on the stage or type of cancer.

From watching her video statement, I was struck by how she described her chemo treatment as "preventative." Otherwise, the statement lacked any of the "we expect a full recovery" that would be expected if it was caught at an early stage.

  3. In an article from Judge Andrew Napolitano, who recently met the Pope.

“The Pope is in poor health, can barely speak or walk; and he radiates sadness. I was thrilled to reside in his home for four days, but I don't think he'll be there much longer.”

  4. Sad. I wouldn't be surprised if she's had it for a couple years by this point. I remember the last couple of years of her show were hard to watch - talking slowly, spacing out every few seconds sometimes.
One of the articles I read attributed her dementia to alcohol use. She also has a well documented history of drug abuse. This one's going to be hard for me to process - I watched her show every day! Truly a one of a kind entertainer.

  5. On the topic of aging House Democrats, Chicago-area Rep. Danny Davis, who is 82 years old and seeking a fifteenth term in Congress, had AI-generated portraits of him posted on his campaign website as his media person was unable to get Davis "well-groomed enough" for a real photoshoot.

Lots of rumors about his health and wellbeing. The Congressional Black Caucus generally discourages its members from retiring in order to retain seniority in Congress. However, he's facing a steep challenge in the Democratic primary this year. Have to wonder if he'll pull a John Conyers if he loses. A lot of these longtime Reps and Senators die right after leaving office.

  6. U.S. Representative Al Green (D-Texas), 76 underwent emergency abdominal surgery. However, Green was well enough to cast the deciding vote against impeaching Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

Green arrived on the House floor without shoes and in hospital garb.

Second thing I noticed now that I have read the statement is that Is devoid of any reassuring information such as "the cancer hs highly treatable " "The Kings prognosis is excellent" "the cancer is localised and at a very early stage" and such like.If the announcement was meant to dull speculation it would be a 100% own goal like throwing petrol on a fire and I don't think the King and those around him believe it would do anything other than create a tsunami of speculative headlines and cause people to question his mortality.

I also think the fact he has been advised not to partake in any face to face events strongly suggests he has started cheom and therefore is likely to have a compromised immune system going forward.

I picked up on this as well. That and the state department statement. I doubt it's terminal pancan or anything, but I would expect more optimistic language if there was a positive prognosis.

Then again, he has access to the best healthcare.

She just presented an award at the Grammys.  I thought she looked and sounded okay.

No cane or wheelchair. I wouldn't have suspected she was sick if I didn't already know.
