  1. Jesus. I wish my tariff would change to £35.73 per month.
  2. I like one of the top two and dislike the other. Not saying which yet, because that'll suddenly make it even more fucking popular.

  4. Well guys, @polar duck has had their say, and it's a no to more games. Polar Duck has never played Kill or Save with us. Not even the Christmas one. You're still welcome to join in whenever though PD!
  5. One such case we'll see in the 50s No.1s is The Everly Brothers - All I Have To Do Is Dream / Claudette. The world and their dogs know the A-side. I love the song. Claudette? Never heard of it. Doesn't matter. People bought the A/B and got them to No.1. It might be that you think Dream did all the heavy lifting of the two, and I'm not about to argue the toss on that, but if that's what you think, by all means vote accordingly, give it the points because of how legendary Dream is! I'm not budging because it would be wrong, after ten of these games, to suddenly change the qualifying criteria. Sorry.

    Go on, name ‘em!
  7. No no, it wasn’t a UK No.1 single; Can’t Help Falling In Love / Rock-A-Hula Baby was. Whether one or the other would’ve charted that well on its own or not is purely hypothetical, so they can’t be accepted as separate entities. It might be the case that one side is shit, one side is great. That’s bad luck, I’m afraid. It’s down to the individual whether they give points for their favourite side, take points for the rubbish side, take an average of the two and score accordingly, or flat out ignore them. Personally, I’d take an average. But to split them is to allow two songs that don’t meet the game criteria.

  9. But Can’t Help Falling In Love isn’t a UK number 1 single, so it can’t be on the list. It’s tough, I know, but that’s how the charts worked. It’s either both as one, or neither.
  10. Hmm…I have my reservations about doing this as that would no longer stay true to how they performed in the charts. There’ll be five doubles in the 50s No.1s game so it’s not a biggie.

  16. Having spent some of my day off yesterday sorting out the 10s No.1s, ‘interesting’ is I’d say a nice, positive spin on what is an absolute calamity.

I see this was published in 2009. There could be one heck of a Volume 2 in the making.

  22. Great idea, we should definitely revisit this once the decades are all caught up.
  23. Rather convincing initial response. That's decided, then. It's fair to say the games slightly differ in scale. I'll run them in this order as it should mean the 10s are paired with the 70s, 80s and 60s, and the 50s run with the 90s and 00s. UK No.1 Hits of the 10s 2010-11: 66 songs, 6 finalists 2012-13: 65 songs, 6 finalists 2014-15: 61 songs, 6 finalists 2016-17: 24 songs, 3 finalists 2018-19: 29 songs, 4 finalists Good grief. 3 monster rounds. UK No.1 Hits of the 50s 1952-53: 15 songs, 4 finalists 1954-55: 25 songs, 7 finalists 1956-57: 25 songs, 7 finalists 1958-59: 29 songs, 7 finalists UK official singles charts began in November 1952. UK No.2 Hits of the 10s 2010-11: 28 songs, 5 finalists 2012-13: 37 songs, 7 finalists 2014-15: 24 songs, 5 finalists 2016-17: 25 songs, 5 finalists 2018-19: 16 songs, 3 finalists Thanks Clorox for the source! UK No.2 Hits of the 50s 1952-56: 31 songs, 5 finalists 1957-59: 28 songs, 5 finalists Rather a truncated game; I can hardly do a 25-strong final when there're only 59 songs!
