  1. Disagree on both counts. Being too 'remainy' isn't really what harmed the last leader, and still wouldn't now. They've got to be effective opposition, so their stance on Brexit is part of that. After all, way more than half the votes cast were for remain parties. Starmer has proven that he can absolutely eviscerate opposition in PMQs, he's very popular, not too far left, and decent and honest without being a bumbling old biffer like Corbyn. Number 1 choice. Jess Phillips is indefatigable and does not take shit. People listen to her because she's direct and unashamedly connects with the working class, which would bring many of the northerners back on side. She would fuck Boris in PMQs, from arsehole to breakfast. Close number 2. Nandy, meh. Jarvis wouldn't be totally disastrous but his seat was fairly close.
  2. The next leader needs to be someone better known, who's not so much a Corbynite, who will hold Johnson to account at every turn without fail. Sir Keir Starmer makes sense, as does Jess Phillips, and I reckon these are probably just about the best choices they've got; they're the sort of no-nonsense candidates the Tories are fearing. Emily Thornberry wouldn't be a terrible choice either, or David Lammy, though it's unlikely he'll stand for leadership. Richard Burgon is an absolute no-no. The other one I've been fearing will pipe up is Rebecca Wrong-Daily, who'd also be fucking terrible.
  3. Actual result (awaiting 2 but they’re gonna be Tory) CON: 365 LAB: 203 SNP: 48 LD: 11 PC: 4 GRN: 1 BXP: 0 OTH: 18 I mean that’s seriously impressive in terms of the accuracy of the exit poll. Now to live with the consequences of our disgusting electorate for 5 years.
  4. Believe it or not, the Sinn Fein candidates in South East England are few and far between.
  5. Let’s be honest, the real winner of this election is Professor Sir John Curtice; his exit poll and analysis is frighteningly accurate once again. Genius.
  6. This is not so much a Tory win (they got roughly the same vote % as 2017) as it is a hefty Labour loss. The party needs radically shaking up if it wants even a glimmer of hope of being an opposition people will pay attention to. This result is even more horrendous than anyone could’ve thought, and it’s got to be because of the direction they’ve gone in. Neutralise the hard-left, oust every last trace of antisemitism and get a leader who can actually lead. And stop putting so much energy into smearing Lib Dem & SNP; they have to be treated as allies until this fusty pile of dreck that is the Tory party has ran its course. Which should be immediately after we’ve made a bollocks of leaving the EU. God things look bleak.
  7. Looking at how close some of these Tory wins are, it’s the distinct lack of cooperation between Lab, LD and Green that has won the Tories this election. Kensington, for example; Conservatives beat Labour by 150 votes, about 16,000 each. Lib Dem’s Sam Gyimah got a further 10,000. Ridiculous.

    That Portillo Moment

Only by 100 or so votes. I’m surprised there wasn’t a bigger gulf. Useless waft of pissy air.

    UK election. You voted for?

Labour, tactically; was not happy about doing so.
  10. If this exit poll is true, we’ve got the Tories for at least another 3 parliaments. And McDonnell, off of quoting Mao Zedong, has just told Andrew Neil he thinks Labour is a centre-ground party under him and Corbyn and should continue this way. Unbefuckinglievable.
  11. That...is...horrific. EXIT POLL: CON: 368 LAB: 191 SNP: 55 LD: 13 PC: 3 GRN: 1 BXP: 0 OTHER: 19 Absolutely fuck this.
  12. No matter what happens, there's a lot of sorrows to drown
  13. True; I just assumed that a) some of those people might work during the day, like me, and b) there are more than 20 people on my ward.
  14. It was red and a bit scruffy so I assume Labour?
  15. Depressing; I was one of six in my polling station. Three of those were behind the desk and one was a cocker spaniel. What is wrong with people?! For fuck sake, vote!!
  16. 4 more hours left to vote, people! Do it.

  18. Just incase you’re struggling to decide. The questions (and answers) are quite interesting. https://uk.isidewith.com/political-quiz Gives you a percentage for each main party (minus SNP/Plaid/NI ones) and where you are in relation to the leaders in numerous areas (e.g. below) Worth doing if you’re still undecided and/or don’t buy into tactical voting and all that. Or just bored.

I'm a purist, I think the strategy involved in the '18 version was more interesting, but I'll play along regardless next year. Cheers Wormy!
  24. You may have a point. I've no idea why the panchrestons fed to us by countless gormless Tory cunts don't rile the general public as much as they do me, but they don't. Their tactic of mindless sloganism seems to work. What a sorry indictment for the public that many of us buy into this shit.
