I agree on him looking his age, especially in the picture gcreptile posted - that said, given that he's being sued into oblivion, there some case going on w/ his ex-wife, the Jan 6th committee, potential perjury charges depending on how much the courts really want to fuck with him... He's likely going to age a million years in the next 12 months, and he's definitely a "take a fly on him just in case" candidate

Actress Anne Heche reportedly in critical condition in the hospital following a car crash: https://people.com/movies/anne-heche-critical-condition-after-fiery-car-crash-la-home-reports/?utm_campaign=peoplemagazine&utm_content=new&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_term=62edbfe3dd0cfc0001185930

With that pic, i wouldn't be surprised if he goes before Carter

That quite frankly may have played a role in this happening I've seen the video - the first shot missed him and, while his bodyguards reacted fast, they were nowhere near fast enough for people meant to be guarding a major politician - got in position to protect him about a second after the second shot hit him. You'd imagine that if this was a country with more gun deaths (Japan has about 10-20 gun deaths a year - one year with about 40 was considered to be an abnormal high), the guards would be better trained to react between shots 1 and 2. That and, in terms of gun ownership, you really can't do much if the person is nuts enough to make their own tbh. It was a full on homemade shotgun, with rumors floating that the ammo was homemade as well. Ammo was def black powder based on the sound of the shots, and at that point, no amount of legislation banning gun ownership will help.

From what I can figure from reports + social media, it was a right-wing ex-military guy who was upset Abe's policies when he was in charge weren't right wing enough
-
This is going to be celebrated in both Korea and China. Internal politics aside, Abe was a committed nationalist who believed that Japan did nothing wrong in WW2, refuted to admit they were wrong during Nanjing, said the "comfort women" were never kidnapped/raped, and attended a yearly honoring of the worse of the Japanese war criminals. His maternal grandfather was literally known as the Butcher of Nanjing for his role in WW2. To East and Southeast Asia, he was basically the equivalent of a German Chancellor saying Hitler was right.

German media as well (DW). I wonder if it's just the relevant QO websites being overwhelmed with QEII content alongside Ukraine war and US mass shootings? Let's see what shakes loose once the Jubilee celebrations are done

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/putin-russian-military-gerasimov-ukraine-b2077884.html Gerasimov reportedly sacked, at least per Ukraine. In any case, it's undeniable that he was missing from the May 9 parade, which is suspicious in itself - if he hasn't been sacked, it seems the reports of him being injured in Ukraine were accurate, so not good for him either way -

Anyhow, seems like the Polish police have decided they have better things to do w/ their time than provide Russian diplomats w/ security (to be fair, that's probably true) -

ah, I see you read the same headline I did. anyone have any experience with anti-hangover sessions w/ shamans? sounds like a ball of a time -
As an aside, wondering if we need to have a post here every time someone turns 100? I'd understand if it's for someone notable worldwide, but even announcing everyone who turns 100 and has an English Wikipedia page seems to be untenable. At the moment, this thread seems to be more "people turning 100" than "centenarian death announcements," tbh.

TL;DR for this is "we gave him a symbolic title so that no one in his family tells the press he's being sidelined/ignored and we have to deal with the drama that results."

Now deleted, the following post appeared for a brief moment on the Instagram page of the Russian Embassy in Edinburgh: "I, Consul General of Russia in Edinburgh, AI Yakovlev, categorically condemn the behavior of the military special operation of the RF Armed Forces against the sovereign, independent state of Ukraine. I fully support any assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the EU countries." Embassy in London says it was a hacker, I say keep an eye out for a suicide -

Ah, I can't wait to see the new round of purges. Also my fave "what's going on in Russia and Ukraine" explainer YouTuber may actually die of laughter, he only barely managed to make it through the Moskva being sunk. -
NYPost doesn't exactly fill me w/ confidence, nor does the fact that the person in question is from nowhere Brazil - not exactly well known for accurate record keeping 121 years ago. Unverifiable (and likely untrue given what she looks like, but the unverifiable part is the relevant bit)
