The winner of the pool is BOOK with 95 points ! Congrats ! followed by gcreptile with 75 points and msc with 49 points ! The pool is closed officially and a new game with a 3 subs rule will open on the 1st of October. For those who are mentioned in this post, please let me know if you'd like to be included in this new game (which I'll be able to host correctly considering I'll have finished my thesis on the first of September) and if so, if you'd like to change the list that you submitted on this pool ! Thank a lot !

Wouldn’t be surprised is she doesn’t go to Braemar games but ends up going to London for the new prime minister. Far more important and symbolic.

That's exactly why I decided to add the 3subs rule which will fix the "opportunistic" side of this current game. Yes exactly : you'll have to pick 3 celebrities who won't be on your team but will be subs. Every time an actual pick on your list dies, the sub n°1 will automatically take his/her place and subs n°2 and n°3 will move up. Then, you'll have to pick another celebrity to enter the sub team at n°3 etc… This way the game won't be as opportunistic as it was here cause it'll take 3 spots to enter the main team. It'll also probably prevent people of using obscure names without any fame on their own before they were dying. When a sub dies before being on the list, the remaining subs should move up and another sub should be chosen at n°3. Yep, that's precisely what I guessed and what happened with me and probably several other players of this game. That's why I think I'll just simplify the rules and probably keep extra points for people with a unique pick for example but not so many points rule which are pretty hard to follow.

well after reading your comments this game will end on 31 of august. A new and fresh game will open on the first of October and you'll have a month to enter your team of 20 celebrities with 3 subs to replace each pick dying. The subs won't count for any point if they die before their apparence on the list. Also, I'm wondering : does the point system please you or do you think it needs to be simpler ? I thought maybe it would be better to use the simplest system just like one death = one point no matter how and when it happens. Let me know what you think. Finally, a winner will be declared. Book said it well : the game was never closed. You can choose to ignore the winner if you want and think of this game as a test version. I said in a previous post in this game that I was considering this game as a trial one before the official and well-rounded one would come up. That doesn't mean there won't be a winner. I'll make a recap of the hits that happened while I was busy. Thanks a lot for your answers !

Yeah, he looks really healthy. Never understood Why he was nº1. Probably a centenarian ?
-
Well Guys I'm so sorry for this, I'm in the middle of the redaction of my thesis which I'm supposed to give back in September and I completely lost track of this game… I'm so very sorry about not haven't been able to properly conduct this game in the last few months but as you can imagine it has been quite intense for me… Anyway, I'm thinking about closing this game which has been a test version to open the right game with the 3 subs rule that I've mentioned earlier and which would be more interesting I think. As I will have finished with my thesis by the beginning of September, I will be able to properly host this game. What do you all think about that ? let me know and again, I'm deeply sorry about this inconvenience.
-
Maybe he was a good addition to my list after all, maybe I’ll wake up with a hit tomorrow
-
Apparently people tend to die around their birthday so maybe we'll have some hits in this list within a month. Who will be the first to die according to you ?
-
Ahah of course that 100% is completely biased BUT considering there’s only 4 people who have reached 118, the official life expectancy at 118 really is 100. Let’s see if Soeur André turns 119 to know if this percentage will be lower down this is a strange but valid paradox
-
Yep, That’s Why on a statistic way, life expectancy at 118yo is 100%. I think but mostly hope that she will reach 119 now, thi is « only » 6 months to go
-
Agree with you ! IM Pei was a weird miss, Johns could be one. Don’t know Why they don’t go with such high profile like Iris Apfel, napolitano, Eastwood, Tippi Hedren, Sandra Day O Connor, Trintignant or even Eva Marie Saint and Leontyne Price instead of Starmer Smith for exemple Who is a nobody to a lot of us. All of them have reach the « never will be on it » zone even if they should and deserve to be on. Anyway, I think Liza Minelli will be on the list and that’s ok with me, looks frailer than ever
-
French actress Micheline Presle turns 100 tomorrow. A lot of french articles as she is (as one article said) « a living legend of french cinema »

David Tavella from Lucille Randon’s hospice care says Lucille felt tired and ill a couple of days ago but she recovered quickly apparently even though she’s still tired.. BUT in this vidéo which I posted on my twitter because I couldn’t post it here, she seems neither worse nor better than usual so idk What to think

French-swiss sculptor Antoine Poncet died at 94 on the 13th of august. A miss for my french list as he was under my radar for a bit now

Stupid/funny/cool/outrageous/scary/weird/crazy Stuff You Read/saw In The News/on The Internet

Found this video of Edith Piaf (whom I’m obsessed with rn after having seen La Môme) leaving the American Hospital of Neuilly in 1961. She was only 46 and looked like a 80 yo lady. She died in 63 at 47 yo. All her Life she was so frail looking she looked like a corpse for years before her passing but there wasn’y any clear cause of death except « exhausting life » and « natural causis » which seem quite strange for a 47 yo female. -
where did you find this ? I can only find mention of her in the 110 club saying she is alive
-
her daughter is still alive at 93. Got me thinking, who are/were the oldest people with a living parent ? first one is Harland Fairweather, son of Violet Brown who died at 97 in April 2017, before his mother who was 117 and died 6 months after that. Then we have the son of Bettie Wilson, the daughter of Sarah Knauss and the one of Faustina Sarmiento Pupo who were all 96 when their mother died. We tend to forget (even more on this site) how awesome living to 110+ really is but taking in consideration that Violet Brown buried her own child of 97 puts everything into perspective and, in my opinion, reveal how incredible these age were ! Didn't find anything about the oldest person with a living grandparent though but could be interesting to search for if everyone cares

Looks better than I thought he would ! Even Rosalynn. They both look better than in the last pictures we got of them. Funny how Rosalynn looks like an old Mia Farrow here

People I Was Surprised To Find Are Still Alive
Lafaucheuse replied to Catherine's topic in DeathList Forum
Edith Piaf's half sister Denise Gassion, born 1931 is still alive. Couldn't find a lot about her but she wrote a book about her sister. This is quite surprising as everyone in Piaf's family died between 40 and 50 yo also Ginou Richer, Piaf's best friend and secretary, born 1927, is still alive. Way more famous than Denise Gassion, she wrote some books about Piaf and gave a lot of interview. Will definitely get a qualifying obit in France when she goes. I almost put her on my list this year. -
Two questions come to mine : - does anyone know What can be her illness - should we consider her for next year list ?
