True - I am convinced now that the solution has to be that those Yahoo local obits shouldn't count next year. So when Yahoo copy/pastes a Hollywood Reporter or Variety obit, they're okay. But when it's, say local station WXCS 5, or any newspaper with a local reference in the title (which would include the LA Times and Chicago newspapers though), it shouldn't count. That's what I will be doing in the Death By Numbers next year.

Yahoo shouldn’t be accepted at all anyway. If we’re gonna accept Hollywood Reporter, Variety, et al. copy jobs from Yahoo then we really should just accept those as QO sources and do away with Yahoo.

  2. I see all these "why should a local politician get accepted" topics of conversation, but the rest of you don't get to see the "person living in woods" picks that people try and sneak in among their 5 other questionable picks.

    • Haha 1

  3. The way I see it with these kind of picks is that the top teams on average depending on the year have about 3-7 survivors. That gives about 3-7 picks you can try and be a little riskier on, but this number also changes depending on the strength of the 13-17 other picks.

I agree, He doesn’t seem like someone who will obit. He was just a councillor - not a leader of the council. And he wasn’t in office when he died either.

I mean he stepped down when it was announced he had cancer, that's probably why they picked it up in the first place.

We've seen councilors get obits before so it's nothing new. Maybe they original writer was off sick today or something idk :/

  5. Bibian Mentel was denied despite being a 3-time Paralympic champion.

Jesus Candel was accepted despite being just some health/doctor influencer.

I tend to just send in any names that may seem like they could pass the arbitrary line and just accept it when they don’t. I’ve asked about royalty before and they’ve said that unless they’re fairly prominent they won’t get accepted.
