People I Was Surprised To Find Are Still Alive
Steve replied to Catherine's topic in DeathList Forum
Just been watching an episode of the TV miniseries War and Remembrance from 1989. Two actors in that episode I had forgotten about and were surprised to find were still alive are: Milton Johns (who played Eichmann in W&R and Brendan Scott in Coronation Street) is 86 this year and Kenneth Colley, 87 in December, played SS Standartenfuhrer Paul Blobel in W&R and also featured in a couple of Star Wars films. -
I, personally am still anticipating great things from this list as there are way too many sick/low hanging fruit candidates to not achieve a very good total. I still think we are going to have a few shocks along the way too away from the official DL and the the DDP will score a very high dead body count. But if I am wrong, which of course I could be then I too echo the comments of @Lafaucheuse that 2025 will be the ultimate bloodbath.

Gene Hackman will almost definitely be featuring on my 2025 shadow list should he see out the remainder of this year.
-
Thank you! I choose Boris Volynov then please
-
@Lafaucheuse am I allowed to participate - I'm sorry to ask but I haven't featured in any of the other previous rounds and didn't want to intrude if I am too late

The Happy Birthday Thread

Former US Vice President Al Gore is 76 today as is American actress Rhea Perlman. Apologies but I haven't got any way of uploading images. -
Seriously, this is getting beyond a joke now

Joan Morecambe a hit for @Summer in Transylvania I believe

Please also pass on my deepest and sincerest condolences to your son @livingbygrace. I do genuinely believe that prayer can move mountains as I have had prayers answered. Not always the way I have wanted or even straight away but the power of prayer as helped me through some very difficult circumstances.

Please accept my sincerest and deepest condolences @Gisooo

Thomas P. Stafford hit number 5 for me following on from the deaths of Glynis John's, Derek Draper, Franz Beckenbauer and Iris Apfel

I predict the grim reaper is going to confound sceptics and be its most powerful yet like a super strong enema in 2024 moreso than recent years equalling or even beating 2020

Ian Lavender also a big name death -
Brehme also scored the deflected free kick against England to put West Germany 1-0 up in the semi final

Andy Crosby gets the sack!!!
-
As a Port Vale fan it's definitely time for manager Andy Crosby to go. Head of recruitment David Flitcroft can follow him out of the door also. The way Port Vale is being run at the moment is embarrassing. Owner Carol Shanahan said that the club when promoted via the League 2 play-offs two years ago needed to be "Championship Ready". I question that we are even "National League Ready". Lost 3-0 away at Fleetwood Town today who were sitting bottom of the League 1 table. Vale are now in a relegation dogfight for certain. With hardly any strikers and appalling recruitment in the January transfer window Port Vale are doomed to life in the basement league of the EFL pyramid.

Congrats @DoorSlammer

Like @drol said in the Englebert Humperdinck thread, 2024 the year famous/ high profile people don't seem to be dying. Well hopefully by me posting this here jinxes everything and we start to see high prolific names keeling over. I must admit I am totally shocked at the slim to anorexic pickings myself and my fellow dead poolers are getting.

Glad to hear all is now well @Great Uncle Bulgaria
-
May I be the first to wish you congrats then @Banana

Of course it is very possible that he could live well into his 100's and even become a supercentenarian but as so often happens it only takes a fall or flu/chest infections at DVD's age and could be a goner in a heartbeat. In March 2017 my grandfather had what appeared to be a common cold and was still relatively active. Within 2 weeks he passed away with pneumonia at the age of 79.
