Brian Mulroney, 18th Prime Minister of Canada (1984-1993), has died aged 84.

In terms of leaders still with us from the major players in the 80s, there’s only really Joe Clark (16th Prime Minister of Canada) and Jimmy Carter left. Nobody from UK, France, Germany, Soviet Union, China, Australia, Japan etc.

DDP Hit when an Obit comes.

Probably the most significant leader after Carter still alive is Felipe González of Spain but Spain’s influence wasn’t that great in the 1980’s.

Depends on the circumstances surely ? Like if say he was in the house by himself and was found dead.

Someone local to me died in their House a few years ago from a heart attack and wasn’t found for a week or so. No inquest once the post mortem confirmed heart attack. An inquest simply wouldn’t be held for a natural death.

George Michael’s death for example. No inquest. Same with Sinead O’Connor.

A lot of this shit is stirred up just to make a story.  There is an organised band of Sussex supporteers on Twitter who have been spreading ridiculous rumours about Catherine, such as that she is dead, William strangled her and it's being covered up.  The media won't go that far, but it gives them ideas.

Feels odd that the most anti Meghan and Harry media would do that as well. And in their print editions as well.

  4. Also the press are really starting to imply something is going on with William and Catherine. It’s odd treatment if she is genuinely recovering from an operation to be suggesting something else is happening. I mean the front page of the Daily Mail today has what is happening to the Royals with a picture of William and Catherine.

The way it's being reported does suggest that possibility. There's talk of an inquest which is unlikely if he just keeled over from a heart attack or the like.

Inquest opened. Does feel like suicide or accident as never heard of an inquest for a natural death that hasn’t occurred in custody. .

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. Strongmen like strongmen if they’re alligned eg China + Russia, but broadly speaking they don’t. I think it’s true however to say that they always admire one another to some extent. It’s like Sturgeon’s love of Thatcher. That was admiration for her strength, courage and indefatigability (to borrow a word from George Galloway), not her actual politics.

Even China and Russia is more of marriage of convenience than genuinely liking each other. China and Russia would dump each other if it no longer become useful for them

Nah, I don’t buy that whatsoever. The idea that Putin is being dishonest and disingenuous 100% of the time is nonsense. He didn’t even hesitate when they asked that, it was an instinctive answer. Putin is a strongman. Trump is a strongman. Strongmen don’t like strongmen. Putin would prefer the senile softie who falls over and shat himself during an audience with the Pope, because he doesn’t know where he is and has no idea what’s going on. Allows Russia to go unchallenged.

The Republican Party core voter base is very pro Putin and Russia.

Dead of a "nasty disease" - unsepcified. The second big tragedy in german pole vaulting in the past months, after Tim Lobinger.

Sad news. Him and Lobinger finished 3rd and 4th at the 2006 world indoors and 3rd and 5th at the European outdoors in 2005.

They are all of Constantine's generation though, so it makes sense that they would have been closer to him.

True but it be a bit odd if William spent today consoling his grieving cousin while her parents went to the service.

I suspect this is the reason for the Prince of Wales’ previous withdrawal - they were close and she represented him at King Constantine’s funeral.

Maybe but her parents were at the service today.

Also there was Princess Alexandra (but in a wheelchair) and the Duke of Kent.

Interestingly Queen Camilla is set to meet the King and Queen of Spain.

It seems that The King will miss that too.

Well it’s part of the service. The king of Spain is the late King of Greece’s nephew.

Hmmmm given his old man was disappointed that he wasn't able to attend this this is curious. (Not that I think it's to do with him)

Implication here seems to be is it’s not the Princess of Wales that has caused his withdrawal.

If it’s not said at some point today (Via a source says) it’s not Charles then it probably is him.

I like the fact you're questioning her sanity for thinking Patel can win a leadership contest, when the maddest thing stated there is that the woman who trashed the economy inside 6 weeks thinks she would be made Chancellor of the Exchequer.

I’m not entirely ruling out anyone winning the Tory leadership election (Truss won by a landslide remember)- just that they would both be deeply unpopular with the public going by their low approval ratings but Truss seems to in denial (Unlike the current members of Government who very much seem to know they heading for heavy defeat and that they not popular.).
