    Ideas and possibilities for 2024

I just think he looks like a man who is dying. In those photos of him from late 2022, that just didn't look to me like someone who lost a lot of weight from gastric bypass surgery. He looked very, very sick to me. He could barely walk, in that video of him at a red carpet event, actually needing assistance, it looked like. There hasn't been any information that has been released as far as a specific illness that he may or may not have, but I'm just going with my eyes on this one, that's all. Has anyone had a positive update on him being out and about in public and looking spry? Until I see something like that, he's staying on my list if he continues to have that look to me like he's very sick. Also, I found this, from an appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark, where the article notes that when the show came back from commercial, Jackson was already seated, so they didn't actually show him on camera walking onstage. That almost certainly means that he either needed assistance walking to the stage, or that he can barely walk. And he still looks sick to me. Judge for yourself.

I see that info now. Thank you! Hopefully for her sake, she didn't have a relapse.

    From Cleric To Relic

Too bad he didn't fall during the sermon. That was so incredibly uncomfortable to watch. (I kid, I kid, about the falling stuff. Not about how terrible his sermon was.)

Regarding Walters, stats suggest that 65% of stage 3 bowel cancer patients survive for 5 years after diagnosis. She was diagnosed in 2018. And if it's been radio silence on her since she was forced to pull out of that TV show in May of this year, yeah, I do agree that there are some worrying tea leaves with her.

    Noddy Holder

Interesting. I often look for when old people wear multiple layers to hide how gaunt they are. But he looks OK in the face and though he's thin, I don't think he looks like death warmed up. That said, it's kind of like an Olivia Newton-John or Valerie Harper situation here, where when the drugs stop working, it goes downhill very quickly. I'll debate adding him to some of my lists, but if I pass, 2025 would make a lot of sense.

Holy shit, Vijayakanth is the third person that has died in the past 24 hours that was earmarked for my 2024 DL. Well, it shows I'm on the ball, apparently!

Apparently he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2013. If it was in the early stages, it's certainly possible to live more than 10 years with it. Still, that's a long time, and if it wasn't Stage 1, let's say...yeah, could be a solid pick. He did look really rough earlier this summer. Not necessarily on death's door in that interview, but 18 months is a long time, and that's how long he would have to survive from that interview to make it to 2025.

Delors was a hit for me and probably for many others. Not a huge point-getter, but I'll take what I can get. I now have a better understanding of how this pool works!

Damn, yet another one of my picks for '24 doesn't even make it to the starting line. Quite rude of them, if you ask me.

    Hospitalised!

Was going to be one of my picks for 2024. Didn't even make it that far, which I suppose is not a surprise after the last update.

    Celebrity Chefs

--Likely cancer of the brain --Didn't think he'd even make it to this Christmas --I've seen other articles quoting him as saying he was basically devastated and floored by the diagnosis, which sounds to me like a terminal diagnosis as opposed to a good prognosis. Yeah, he's worth a pick FOR SURE in '24. Here's another person I had never heard of, but he will be going on my list and staying there unless I hear a remission announcement or something.

    48. Tom Baker

I haven't looked him up at all and on this side of the Atlantic (hell, I'm near the Pacific, ha), I have no idea who this dude is. (OK, I looked him up and I see what he's famous for now, got it.) In looking at him, yes, he looks extremely frail and thin, as he is wearing multiple layers of clothing in almost all of the shots I see on this page, yet the clothes are draping him and look loose. He looks like skin and bones. Having said that, he can apparently still stand, as seen in that birthday message on Twitter, so that's a good sign, I suppose. But I don't think we have to worry about Jimmy Carter territory here.

That's a pretty good find. He could have a few months left or a few years; just no way to know since we don't know the specifics of his type of cancer. It's not like he writes a novel per year, so saying it may be his last novel doesn't necessarily mean he won't see 2025, of course. But certainly one to keep an eye on!

    Donald J Trump

I think he's increased his support a little bit among younger AA men, that's true. I see this on social media for sure. However, they are not as likely to vote as AA women are, or older AA men are. Overall, I still believe he will have too much baggage to win, but we'll see.

    Donald J Trump

Biden's best chance, by far, is if Trump is the nominee of the GOP. Trump may be ahead in polls now, but he has so much baggage that I still think he would lose, as the campaign season really gets in gear next year. As I've argued before, presidential elections here are decided in a few swing states by enough people who could vote either way as independents. And for those people, it often comes down to rationalizing in their minds "the lesser of two evils." And in Trump's case, he elicits such hatred from so many. When it was Trump vs. Hillary, it was actually Hillary who was disliked more by enough of these people, so Trump won. In the last election, it was the other way around; people may think Biden is too old or past his prime or whatever, but these type of voters don't actually dislike or hate Biden. He doesn't elicit that type of emotional response from swing voters. And my contention is that Trump has even more baggage now, easily, than he did during the 2020 election season. I believe Trump will lose if he's the nominee. I also believe that Haley would beat Biden, because of what I said above. She wouldn't be hated by swing voters, even those who disagree with her, and she would draw enough of a contrast to Biden's perceived weak points (she's younger, she's not in cognitive decline, etc.) that I think she would win. (As for those arguing that Biden is old and in cognitive decline, well, those same points apply to Trump.) We'll see, but that's been my theory for the past year or so. Of course, I wasn't factoring in the whole Israel-Hamas stuff then, and here in the U.S. it seems like the majority of younger people, and certainly young people of color, are very much anti-Israel. Even though Biden himself has clearly stated his support for Israel (and the U.S. even vetoed a UN resolution that would have called for a ceasefire, remember), I do wonder if those white voters from swing states could vote for Trump almost as a fuck you to liberals. EDIT: And as I posted this, I just noticed a NY Times poll that has Biden ahead of Trump now. Anyway, yeah, those are my thoughts, the thoughts of a gay Californian who nonetheless tries to remain objective when it comes to presidential politics and analyzing elections.

Yeah, there's not enough of a decline from him to be a good candidate for '24. Still too early.

He kind of has that Randy Jackson look that Mr. Jackson had late last year (and arguably still has), but Jackson has made it to the end of the year, so I guess you never know.

Tony Granato announces he has been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. As a huge LA Kings fan, I have fond memories of him on the team during the Gretzky years.

Well, he turns 69 in March, so maybe it's best to be a year too early instead of the risk of being a year too late?
