I just caught the end of Inside Culture with Mary Beard on BBC Two. The episode ended with a sequence with several actors reciting a speech from King Lear, all self-filmed at their homes. Tom Courtenay delivers a few lines from his chair, and I'm sorry to say he seems pretty frail, especially after the vigour of Timothy West immediately before him. It looks to me like his hands are shaking uncontrollably, and I don't recall him seeming this frail on Harry Hill's Alien Fun Capsule two years ago. You can watch it here.

Mark Eden, Marco Polo in the 1964 serial of the same name, died today aged 92.

There's one original member of the Coasters left - Leon Hughes - who'll be turning 90 in 2022 should be make it through this year.

Sent! Don't laugh at it

No need for 'whoever he is' when reporting his death. MF Doom was phenomenal. Would recommend any of his records, especially Madvillainy.

Whoops - I was going to do my first ever team and I've had it in the making but it slipped my mind. Too much to drink!

A long shot but how about Douglas Livingstone? Actor and writer, appeared in three well-remembered Play for Today editions with Ray Mort and Brian Glover, both of whom died yonks ago. He is 87 in May and hasn’t been active for nearly 20 years.

As far as I know he's still about, so I guess he's next earliest. "Rock Around the Clock" topped the chart six months after Bennett.

Not sure if anyone's pointed this out already but, following Vera Lynn's death, Tony is the earliest UK chart-topper still alive (Stranger in Paradise, May 1955).

I thought Tommy Cannon (82) looked a little frail, though he looked old already 40 years ago. Might be one to watch though.

I don’t think Keith Richards is going off on his way any time soon. He seems to be in decent shape, got at least five years ahead I’d say.
-
I'm sure he'll have been mentioned before but Francis Ford Coppola (1939) looks a lot thinner here than he was only a few years ago.

Another “swamp pop” performer gone after Rod Bernard in July.

As soon as anybody says “snowflakes” or “facts don’t care about your feelings”, you know not to even bother with them.

Nah. James Watson is a racist.

Heard the news bulletin on my way to work. All I heard was “one of Britain’s most notorious serial killers has died” - didn’t need the name, I immediately thought about this forum. RIP Wilma McCann, Emily Jackson, Irene Richardson, Patricia 'Tina' Atkinson, Jayne MacDonald, Jean Jordan, Yvonne Pearson, Helen Rytka, Vera Millward, Josephine Whitaker, Barbara Leach, Marguerite Walls and Jacqueline Hill.

Yeah, I think that’s all it is. Her voice as Marge has declined slowly and quite consistently. If it was an illness like cancer, it would change more suddenly.

Yeah, Don Everly is a must for the DL soon. Hasn’t performed live since appearing as a guest with Paul Simon at a concert in June 2018. Simon introduced him as the last surviving childhood hero he has. He sounded and looked much more ropey than on the last Everlys performances a decade before.

Looks pretty much the same in both of the photos to me, just one is posed and one is papped.

Are there any music-centric deadpools?

Whenever I've told my friends about this website, they say it's weird and all this. I still feel a little reticient but I might do this for the first time this year! Why not I suppose?

Agreed about 2021. It's very sad to see him looking so unwell.

Dizzy Reece, hard bop jazz trumpeter whose credits include scoring the 1958 Ealing film Nowhere to Go (which gave Maggie Smith her first screen credit) and making a lot of recordings with Blue Note records, turns 90 on 5 January. Not a guaranteed obit but you never know.

Roy’s phenomenal. Just one of the great pop songwriters. His album “Mustard” is one of my all time favourites. The Brexit party thing bothered me for a while, but he did promptly delete that Facebook post and hasn’t said anything about it since, so there’s that. I don’t think he’s going anytime too soon.
