Definitely La Toya. It is heartening to see how many are still alive though.

Interestingly, one of the first things I thought when I heard Burt had died was that there's a new boxset of his work with Elvis Costello coming out in less than a month. EC will be devastated I'm sure. Their collaboration album was sublime.

He's not coming back-arach. Total genius, sad news. As others have said, I knew he was frail but I thought he had a bit longer - it wasn't very long ago he was still performing in concert around the world.

Eek! I picked him. We'll see, I guess. Incidentally, I entered two teams, one unthemed titled "Tragic, Our Maurice" and one a music theme team titled "Funk Pop a Roll". I can see Funk Pop a Roll is up with the name Tragic, Our Maurice but the other team isn't. I was wondering if this was a mistake? If not and if I've not played by the rules, let me know as I have never entered two teams before.

Blondie has always sorta looked like that though. On stage, he is very energetic. I’d say Brian is the better bet - I think he’s finally retired from touring.

Tim was a lovely man and, like Tim Smith, very unlucky with health obstacles. Rest in peace.

Peter Geeves (born 1955), best known as Tango's Orange Man, dead according to a tweet from someone who says Geeves was his brother-in-law (it seems legit). Various parts in 80s-90s sitcoms and films including Muppet Treasure Island.

Love to all my fellow DLers who have joined since 2019 and love lists.

New video of DVD reading a poem by Rod Serling. He seems to be on really excellent form.

That’s the worst I’ve ever heard his voice, though I guess that’s to be expected. Perhaps this is off-topic but does anyone know exactly why people’s voices go like that in extreme old age?

RIP the namesake of one of the best early Cardiacs songs

Oh no, I'm sure he's still a cunt.

I mentioned it on the DDP thread but it didn't get much discussion. I think it's a big no because there's a rule that states obits must be in written English. Understandable but a bit frustrating in a so-near-but-so-far way, cos there are obituaries that don't count despite being published by the BBC on the BBC News website and written in an official language of the UK.

Bugger! One of my picks, Cledwyn Jones, is already dead. Died in October and I never saw! What do I do? https://www.bbc.co.uk/cymrufyw/63326738

Oh bugger! Cledwyn Jones died in October aged 99 and I missed it and put him on my DDP list. Tamping! As I expected, he got a Welsh-language BBC Cymru obit but nothing in English. https://www.bbc.co.uk/cymrufyw/63326738

So soon after Brian Casser. With the loss of those two, I think that's near enough all of the vocalists of the most prominent early Merseybeat bands outside of the Beatles gone. Rory Storm (Rory Storm and the Hurricanes) died in 1972. Johnny Sandon (fronted the Searchers up to 1961) died in 1996. Brian O'Hara (The Fourmost) died in 1999. Johnny Hutchinson, Adrian Barber and Johnny Gustafson (The Big Three) died in 2019, 2020 and 2014, respectively. Gerry Marsden (Gerry & the Pacemakers) and Colin Manley (The Remo Four) died in 2020.

I do. I'm sure we all have names we would prefer but Parky looks awful, very different even to his pre-pandemic self.

He's being sued for alleged historic child sex abuse. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2022/dec/30/aerosmith-steven-tyler-lawsuit-sexual-battery-assault

I expect my risky picks of Phyllis Kinney and Cledwyn Jones will be unique (both performers well-known in Wales in the 1940s and 50s) but probably nothing else.

Good call - I was meant to put him on mine and forgot!

Sad news. Would not have expected Ruth - the eldest Pointer with the deep voice - to be the last one left.

Murray’s Boxing Day show with David Hamilton is here: https://m.mixcloud.com/noeltyrrel/pete-did-pete-murray-david-hamilton-open-house-on-boom-boxing-day-2022/ It sounds like he is still pretty independent - he indicates that he lives alone and cooks for himself. An anecdote about his car suggests he might even still drive!

Aah fair enough actually, I didn't know that about the concert. Sounds like he hasn't got long at all.
