That's my biggest problem with abortion . It being used as a form of contraception. Even though a Catholic myself I'm not 100% against abortion. Rape resulting in pregnancy (very rare) and cases were the mother could die I think abortion is fine. But yea RLB isn't even a trad Catholic she's very liberal and even that is extreme for some on the far left in the labour party. She'll be labours Tim farron if she wins.

Oh yes I'm sure we could wrap up a rape court case between conception and the termination deadline?

This argument always astounds me from anti-abortionists.... you're essentially asking woman to keep their kids just in case they can't prove rape...

Given how high the burden of proof is for a rape conviction is - you'd be sanctioning tens of thousands of mothers to keeping babies that are the product of rape they couldn't prove in court.

The extreme left not content with chasing off the Jews and working class have now begun a beef with Catholics now. Being against abortion is a mainstream belief not an extreme one. 52% of Catholics in the UK voted labour in 2017 and there's a good chance (data not released yet) that for the first time in UK politics a majority of Catholics voted conservative in 2019 election. If momentum pulls support for RLB because of her religion that 52% in 2017 could easily turn into below 40% in 2024 .

Oh, come off it. Catholics who voted for the Tories in 2019 were never going to vote for RLB anyway. Catholics don't fucking join momentum (unless they're having some kind of faith crisis and don't understand momentums place in the political landscape).

I bid you a good day sir.

  5. Inspired by Derek Fowlds death being completely wrongly thrust in the bloody Basil Brush thread...

Everyones favourite 90s and 00s nostalgia show, call the midwife with coppers for those of you who are too young - yes that really did used to pulll in 18.0m+ viewers.

I haven't bothered with the reccurring characters who weren't made regulars as there's enough for a theme team in this lot.

Into the 90s, Derek Fowlds got a recurring gig  as one of the leads on Heartbeat, the nostalgic cop show in which it appeared to be 1969 for 20 years. Never off the screen, Heartbeat got 14 million viewers regularly in the 1990s, and remains popular with grannies, so, that’s cool.

Today I learned not only have I had sex change but I appeared to have had a child who has also bequeathed a daughter....

Mind you, there's also Bernard Cribbins view: why capture one generation, when you can capture every single one since the 50s? :D

    Quite Literally and Further Back

    • The Silent Generation: Born 1928-1945 - Make Mine A Million
    • Baby Boomers: Born 1946-1964 Right Said Fred / Jackanory
    • Generation X: Born 1965-1980  Jackanory The Wombles
    • Millennials: Born 1981-1996  Dennis and Gnasher / Doctor Who
    • Post-Millennials: Born 1997- Doctor Who / Dennis and Gnasher / Old Jacks Boat

Some of us old farts have got longer memories that go back further than Yes Minister/Prime Minister & Heartbeat. To us he'll always be Mr. Derek.

Meanwhile the rest of us who aren't gearing up to draw our pensions he's Sgt Oscar Blaketon.

A show which began 28 years ago (before I was born I might add) and went off the air 10 years ago btw, so this is hardly about me being a whippersnapper with a superiority complex....

(No I don't want my old account back, I've literally come to very cheekily plug my own forum and then bugger off again as I'm taking a break from deadpooling; hope dispensation will be given for the obvious cheek given my longstanding tenure as a regular here. Oh and feel free to troll the fuck out of the board, anybodies welcome)

Oh and I'll kindly half-arsed update the HDP while I'm here.... :P
