New interview last month (a good portion of it talks about his Parkinson's and perspectives on death). He seems quite stricken by Parkinson's now, shaking throughout the video. Probably in the end stage now.

It's actually disturbing how little the U.S government seems to care about their military getting exposed to toxic substances (Agent Orange, radioactive materials, asbestos, burn pits etc.). I know a U.S Iraq war veteran that was exposed to burn pits. Now in his early 50s, survived skin cancer and has COPD and liver disease. He has a twin brother and 2 siblings who are perfectly healthy. He's been trying to fight for 100% disability but the V.A has been giving him a hard time as you might guess.

I respect your decision. Jay-Jay Solari would be my 1st sub in line. With what you describe, I'm pretty certain Ike Schab would fall to this rule as well. Although he is not the last Pearl Harbor survivor by any means, his rise to fame kind of happened because he had a wish to return to the harbor for the 80th anniversary of the attack (he subsequently returned for 2022 and 2023 as well). Depending on how you feel, I can retire Schab and have my 2nd substitute George Eastham come in place.

"Old" Alonso resembles old Sean Connery (kind of). -
Can someone here put "Out of Juice" as the dead tagline for this thread?

Mentioned deaths of USS Arizona survivors in 2007 and one in 2000 in news archives.

That's the last Korean War MOH Recipient gone. Asides from maybe some Korean generals, I am not sure if there any properly notable Korean War veterans currently living who are famous or notable for their participation in the war. Probably not going to change until 10-15 years when we are down to the last vets of certain major battles (Chosin Reservoir, Incheon, Bloody Ridge etc.).

At least he died on March 31 and not some 20 years earlier, as was the case with a certain Sogen Kato.
-
He looks extremely frail and his skin has clear mottling, not a good sign at all. On top of this it looks like his neck posture is definitely bent forward (something that can happen to very old people who are frail or have skeletal issues, Tom Stafford is a good example of this). Looks like a solid DL pick now.

There are only 4 survivors of the 100th Bomb Group of the U.S 8th Air Force (unit featured in the TV series Masters Of The Air). John "Lucky" Luckadoo (pilot in the 350th and 351st Bomb Squadrons) James R. Rasmussen (navigator in the 349th Bomb Squadron) Henry "Hank" Cervantes (pilot in the 349th Squadron) Robert Wolff (served in the 418th Bombardment Squadron, was prisoner of war)

About time an updated census is given. I figured there were more survivors around than my list of eight, but 22 is decent considering the youngest survivors would be at least a 100 today.

Since there's no thread for reporting deaths of non astronaut NASA people, putting this here. Former Johnson Space Center director, George W.S Abbey dead https://www.nasa.gov/news-release/nasa-remembers-former-nasa-johnson-director-george-w-s-abbey/

Reportedly a suicide.
-
Honestly at this point, start a sweepstake for all Apollo astronauts now. There's just eight left.
-
Tom Stafford is a hit here.
-
Some of the folks there are in contact with the astronauts/families and related organizations, particularly the founder, so that's where he likely gets that info. I'm not a member, but I know people who are members of that site in my space groups and some of them are in touch with astronauts and their families.

Sounds fun. Let's go. 1. King Harald V 2. Steve "Mongo" McMichael 3. Yuriko, Princess Mikasa 4. Ira "Ike" Schab 5. George Eastham 6. Alexander Mitta 7. Mahathir Mohamad 8. Pori Moni (Bangladeshi actress) 9. Red Farmer (NASCAR) 10. Bernadette Chirac Subs: Henri Pescarolo, Judy Loe

Lovell is based in Lake Forest, Illinois so not exactly close to the location but usually he would make the effort to show up for an occasion like this so even if he's not having health issues, it indicates age has taken it's toll.
-
Jim Lovell. Since his wife's death there's been complete radio silence and no one in my groups is sure of his current status, also he'll be turning 96 soon so if he lives to 2025 he's a strong candidate to consider. He's a better pick than Aldrin (who's still active on Twitter) in my opinion.

The key here is how aggressive the cancer is. My grandfather was diagnosed with stage 3 bladder cancer, even with treatment it took only a year before it ravaged his entire body and a few months later he was dead. Of course, it isn't a death sentence but the more aggressive and the faster the cancer spreads, the lower your odds.

Not many from the golden age of Italian car designers and engineers left now. Forghieri, Materazzi, Bizzarrini, Zampolli and now Gandini all dead. Giampaolo Dallara and Giorgetto Giugiaro are the only ones I can think right off the bat who are left.

Eric Carmen also performed the song Hungry Eyes in the 1987 film Dirty Dancing, that's how I discovered him. In my opinion it's one of his best songs.

I'm inclined to believe it's financial reasons, but the health record in the Scheckter family is not ideal. Jody's daughter Ila died of an overdose years back and prior to that suffered a brain tumor that lead to seizures, his son Tomas suffered strokes and has had heart surgery. I'm also wondering if his brother Ian is well, haven't seen a public appearance from him since an interview in 2021 and to my knowledge he was quite active in the South African automotive scene till then.

Dead. 86 years old is an impressive run, that's like 136 in sumo wrestler years.

No worries, she makes pretty good risotto too. I like them both.
