    Baseball

Some concern on both the health of Shigeo Nagashima and Tsuneo Watanabe. From what I understand Shigeo Nagashima is currently hospitalised but doing well and to be discharged soon. Tsuneo Watanabe (who has looked very frail for years, broke his neck in 2018 and is now 97) "isn't suffering from a specific illness".

Notable Victims of the Russo-Ukrainian war

Russian Lieutenant General Oleg Tsokov is being said to have been killed in the Ukrainian counteroffensive today. Apparently the first confirmed death of a Russian Lt. Gen. (Unless he does a Tushayev)

Why no Indians ever in DeathList?

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin's mother (and one of former CM M. Karunanidhi's widows) Dayalu Ammal and Tamil Nadu political "matriarch" celebrates 90th. Or 88th, 87th, 86th or 84th. Her age has been surrounded by some small controversy for a while as she was married to Karunanidhi in 1948 (right after Karunanidhi's first wife died at 20, allegedly from tuberculosis) and her oldest sons are now 70 and 71. She's been in failing health for a while and I couldn't find new pictures of her.

The Cardinals Of The Roman Catholic Church

21 new cardinals named, to be inducted in September. Three of them are over 80: Agostino Marchetto - Italian titular archbishop of Ecija who worked decades at the Vatican diplomatic service. 83 next month. Diego Padrón Sánchez - Archbishop emeritus of Cumana, Venezuela. 84. Father Luis Dri - Some Capuchin friar priest from Argentina who didn't have a Wikipedia page in any language before yesterday. Anyways, he's 96 and it makes him the fourth-oldest cardinal after do Nascimento, Esteban Karlic and Wamala.

    Political Frailty

"Big Jiew" Chavalit Yongchaiyudh (former Thai Prime Minister, General/Admiral/Air Chief Marshal) again in hospital. There's an image and he seems to have been on IV meds but he's sitting down and doesn't look too bad.

    Terrorists & Topical Terrorist Targets

Iván Márquez, another FARC guerrilla leader, dead at 68. Shahab al-Muhajir, mastermind of the 2021 Kabul airport attack, might've been killed last month by Taliban. Even if he's not dead, he will be sooner than later.

    Yevgeny Prigozhin

The Belarus cunt says Putin won't wipe him out. Russian media has released some info and images on his house - back in June the FSB searched his home found his wig collection and other interesting items for example a stuffed alligator, massive sledgehammer and a framed photo of severed heads. And images of him... Here's him dressed as (impersonation? or would it be called cosplay?) something that seems to be a mix of Sacha Baron Cohen's General Aladeen and Muammar Gaddafi:

    Ideas and possibilities for 2024

Bruce Wilhelm, two-time World's Strongest Man (and the first winner of the competition) is still alive and 78 this month. Scottish author, historian, sports promoter David Webster OBE who "created" the competition is also still alive and will be 95 in two months. He rediscovered the Dinnie Stones in 1953. 75+ powerlifters living: Larry Pacifico (77), Precious McKenzie MBE (87), John Kuc (75/76), Taito Haara (80)

    Dead Poets Society

Eccentric, controversial, loved, hated Finnish poet, writer Miki Liukkonen dead at 33. Death cause not mentioned but he had/had suffered from BPD, anorexia and depression. Possibly Finland's most famous living poet before his death, atleast according to himself - from a 2015 interview: "I am Finland's most famous poet as Tommy Tabermann (1947-2010) is dead. I don't know if I'm the greatest, but atleast I'm the most famous."

    Slavs

Alexander Mitta, Russian director, screenwriter, actor in ICU after suffering a stroke. I don't trust Russian media or Russian sites a lot, but here's a list of some of those Russian personalities who've been in failing health/ICU/dying/hospitalised in recent years: Vil Mirzayanov (1935) He was suffering from stage IV cancer in 2018! Enver Mamedov (1923-2023) Azerbaijani-Russian former Soviet TV boss and good friend of the 60s, 70s, 80s Soviet old guard all long dead now. On oxygen with unknown illness at a Moscow presidential hospital in 2020 and in failing health forever. Ivan Krasko (1930) Atleast 10 hospitalisations in the last 2 years and has had two strokes since reaching 90. Tatyana Piletskaya (1928) was ill with covid in 2020, "deteriorated sharply" and refused medication. Seemingly recovered. Controversial turkologist Mirfatyh Zakiev (1928-2023) has been decrepit for a long time. Lyricist/poet Nikolai Dobronravov (1928-2023) and composer Aleksandra Pakhmutova (1929) were both hospitalised with rough covid in January 2021. Aleksandr Zatsepin (1926) had a bad fall some years ago requiring weeks of hospitalisation but is still working. Soviet football "legend" Nikita Simonyan (1926) also had a hospitalisation some years ago but seems indestructible. Margarita Terekhova (1942) Soviet actress. Suffering from dementia for more than a decade, maybe two. In 24/7 care and also survived covid some time ago. Bedros Kirkorov (1932) Hospitalised with heart, lung problems atleast three or four times the last year. Leonid Roshal (1933) Pediatrician hero-turned Putin bootlicker, said to suffer from Parkinson's and brain tumors and had an ICU stay some months ago. Gleb Panfilov (1934-2023) Stroke and pneumonia around May. Lyudmila Porgina (1948) Hospitalised with head injury in May and has been in failing health for a while. Nikolay Drozdov (1937) "Russia's Attenborough", has been hospitalised with broken ribs atleast twice and also has other health problems. Anatoly Romanov (1948) Permanent brain damage since 1995. Wheelchairbound and ultrafrail. Gennady Zyuganov (1944) Communist leader following Gorby, Ryzhkov and the end of the Soviet Union. Hospitalised with Zhirinovsky in 2022.

    Legends in their own minds

Forgot this thread existed! Finnish "legendary" Lappeenranta humppa festival host, journalist, presenter (and once husband of the late author Laila Hirvisaari who in my opinion was much more "legendary") Heikki Hietamies turned 90 and revealed he has "mild" dementia. Also suffered a massive stroke a few years ago.

    Non-British Royals

King's own press release says he's in eSwatini only to see his uncle. One of Misuzulu's top advisors is dead, suspected poisoning. There's been some kind of a power struggle since around February now and Buthelezi (and other members of the royal family who are against the King) seems much more powerful.

    Who are the immortals?

Chiam See Tong given an unique lifetime achievement award at a Red Dot United gala. Too ill to attend of course. He's suffered from Parkinson's for decades, health history of atleast three strokes (1989, 2008, 2009), hip injury (2013) and other ailments. On the other hand - from the 2022 Class - Wang Huo (heart attacks, pneumonia...also had an intracranial hemorrhage in 1983) apparently looks amazing: He's 99. His best friends are 94 and 108. I think they know something we mortals don't.
