    Who are the immortals?

On the above list - I agree with 2, maybe 1 and 7, disagree especially with 6 and 8 as there are people much older who've survived similar stuff. And the youngest person on drol's Immortals lists is Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee who is 79*. Howard Dully is an interesting case, has been on my radar for a few years. Edit, note: While Bhattacharjee is the oldest, there's a five-year gap between him and Alberto Fujimori (84) who's currently the second-oldest. They're the only two immortals listers (excluding Kabosu) who are under 85. One of the page 2 names, David Musuguri, is once again in hospital according to twitter posts:

    Professional Cyclists

Not as famous as the three but there's two other somewhat notable Spanish cyclists born in the 1920s still alive. Both mentioned on these forums before: Bernardo Ruiz (1925) first Spaniard to take two wins in a single edition of the Tour de France. Arguably paved the way for Bahamontes and other Spanish cyclists. Chainsmoker, drinker but was still in good health a few years ago. Guillermo Timoner (1926-2023) Six-time UCI Motor-paced World Championships gold medalist. One of the best motor-paced cyclists of all time. Looked pretty frail on his 97th birthday in March. And two Olympic gold medalists - Charles Coste (1924) and Ian Browne (1931-2023)

    Hospitalised!

US reggae and blues guitarist and singer Donald Kinsey who's performed with for example Albert King, Peter Tosh, Roy Buchanan and Bob Marley, is reportedly in ICU after a car crash but is improving. I assume he's not in good health otherwise either as he has a nasal cannula in the 2022 image they've used for that article. Never mentioned here before.

    Sheikh Down

And Kuwait's Emir Nawaf back to Italy, another private visit. Nawaf, who'll be 86 this month, has been said to suffer from stomach cancer for more than two years now and has had five to ten of these trips since becoming Emir in 2020. They seem fully prepared for his death, the eighty-something Crown Prince Mishal (half-brother of Nawaf) fully took over his duties already over a year ago and Nawaf's son Ahmad Nawaf (who is around 67 and currently the Prime Minister) will likely become the Crown Prince after Nawaf dies.

    King Harald V of Norway

Meets Margrethe II of Denmark (and also falls down to the ground on the red carpet). Looks great for someone who's been in and out of hospital on IV meds recently. Right after getting helped up:

    Dying Bigots

I'd also include "the decade of the 1980s could very well be the last decade of history as we know it" Hal Lindsey (93) and Chuck Swindoll (88). Swindoll has a quite large following and I'd call him nutty, Lindsey's popularity peaked ages ago (and is now retired due to age and health) but is still a prophet to tens or hundreds of thousands. With a quick Google search James Dobson seems to be the only one of these five who doesn't look rotting, but he has quite a health history - heart attack in 1990, stroke in 1998, horse riding fall that caused a fractured clavicle, a fractured scapula and broken ribs in 2011, "very ill" in 2012. There are a few minor/arguable names too - Kay Arthur (89) of Precept Ministries International, who suffers from Parkinson's and "occasional memory issues" and Houston, Texas megachurch head/televangelist Homer Edwin Young (86) who has suffered from major heart problems for decades.

Does anyone know/recognize who's the man in the white suit next to Umberto Bossi here? I watched some of the funeral and seems like those two were possibly the only people wheelchairbound there.

    Who are the immortals?

I'll likely gather up a larger suggestions list later this year, but here's six suggestions to the list if they'll make it. These don't include my previous mentions (Le Pen, Murdoch, Yael Dayan): 1. Mirtha Legrand: 96, has survived cancer twice, gallbladder operation in 2005, acute gastroenteritis and intestinal obstruction in 2019, emergency heart surgery in 2021 and pacemaker implantation earlier this year, looks better than the average 65-year-old. 2. Louis Farrakhan: 90, was on his last legs, "close to dying" with cancer, anemia, infections, "bleeding" and emergency surgery in 1998-1999 and then again "dying" in 2006 with terminal cancer. Later hospitalisations atleast in 2014 and 2015. As Ulitzer said, how is he still alive? 3. Wanda Półtawska (1921-2023): 101, survived concentration camps, terminal intestinal cancer in 1962 and critical conditions after a housefire in 2014 that left her badly disfigured. Again said to be in failing health early this year but seemingly bounced back. 4. Dennis Skinner: 91, has survived advanced bladder cancer, getting shot, heart and hip surgeries and a serious infection at 87. And of course atleast one death rumor. He's had a thread on this site for nearly 20 years and it was even originally made due to him having major health issues. One of the immortal potentials of British politics with Winnie Ewing who's been in failing health for around 15 years now. 5. Peter MacDonald (Hashkasilt Begay): 94, crook Navajo Nation leader who was "dying physically and mentally" in 1996 after heart attacks, suffering from diabetes, arthritis, high BP, Albertofujimorism and severe back problems. Still alive and wheeled around, has outlived five of his immediate successors who were all born after him. 6. Solihin G. P.: 97 next month with a health history of...severe stroke at 90 and atleast two or three hospitalisations since, seemed on his deathbed in 2018 and had rough covid and a death rumor in 2021. few more I've seemingly forgotten about - I'll add those who won't be on my July list here...: 7. Gherardo Hercolani Fava Simonetti: This guy has been in failing health for the last 12 years. 8. Ryan O'Neal (1941-2023): Leukemia survivor, stage IV prostate cancer over a decade ago. He looked like a jaundiced ballsack some years ago. 9. Akintola Williams (1919-2023): 103 and has been clinging on to life by a thread forever. 10. June Lockhart: I don't remember her health currently, but she's been mentioned on perennial picks lists for 5 years atleast. 11 & 12. Muhibbullah Babunagari and Gyanashree Mahathero: Some of the most influential religious leaders of Bangladesh. Babunagari is ancient and has had hospitalisations in recent years, Mahathero was on his deathbed in 2018 and has been ultrafrail since. 13 & 14. HD Deve Gowda and Manmohan Singh - how are they still alive? 15. Boris Spassky: was on my suggestions list for 2022. Impressive he's still alive having been wheelchairbound since a massive stroke over a decade ago. + Rowshan Ershad - hospitalised for around half a year some time ago? Suffering from everything.

    Mahmoud Abbas

I think he should be on DL 2024 - he's been in failing health for years, continuous hospitalisations five years ago, obese, 87, heart problems, rumored cancer. Only a handful of PLO's old guard left, but many of them still hold quite a lot of power: Salwa Abu Khadra (1929) Mostly a minor name but was PLO's first major woman leader. Already quite frail in 2006, but according to Palestinian websites still alive and holding positions. Farouk Kaddoumi (1931) Major Arafat ally, Head of the PLO's political department for decades and Fatah Central Committee Chairman. In failing health for years, critically ill in April. (Was a DL Cup pick in May) Rafiq Shakir Natshah (1934) Oldest working Palestinian inner circle politician since the death of Salim Zanoun. Was still attending events last year, but is quite frail. Mahmoud Abbas (1935) Palestine President, in failing health for a while. Nayef Hawatmeh (1935, 1937 or 1938) Arguably one of Abbas' right hand men. Head of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, formerly designated a terrorist organization by the US, for 55 years. Not the picture of health, wounded in an explosion (assasination attempt?) last year. Abu Maher Ghneim (1937) Hardliner who is against Israel's existance and former rival of Kaddoumi. Not as powerful as he once was. Nabil Shaath (1938) Former Acting Prime Minister and Foreign Minister most known for his "Bush anecdote" to BBC claiming Bush said he's on a mission from God to end tyranny in Iraq and bring peace to Palestine and Israel. Was ill in 2021. Ziyad Abdel Fattah (1939) Decrepit PLO politician most known for having founded Wafa, also known as Palestine News Agency. Intissar al-Wazir (1941) Abbas inner circle member, widow of Fatah co-founder Khalil al-Wazir.

    Political Frailty

Oommen Chandy (also a DL Cup pick this month) still under treatment and can't be consulted due to bad health condition according to this. However according to this, political leaders have had talks with him. There's an annoying amount of mystery surrounding his health condition, but he hasn't made appearances in months (I think the last time was following his hospitalisation around February or March - he was wheeled around looking like a skeleton) and is known to have advanced throat cancer. I think he'll be dead sooner than later but will it take days, weeks or months?

Foreign Personalities, From Stage, Screen, Politics And Life

Soviet/Russian actor Ivan Krasko, 92, reveals he's in a relationship with a 28-year-old (who definitely isn't after the money...) Powered by insomnia, list of living classic bullfighters: Bette Ford (1927) US actress/model-turned bullfighter. Julio Aparicio Martínez (1932) 50s and 60s Spanish bullfighter. Looked fine at the funeral of fellow bullfighter El Litri last year. Rafael Peralta Pineda (1933) Younger brother of much more famous bullfighter Ángel Peralta Pineda who died a few years ago. Curro Romero (1933) Spanish. Known most for his career of 42 years. El Cordobés, Manuel Benítez Pérez (1936) Possibly the most legendary Spanish bullfighter of the 1960s who by the time he retired in 1971 was the highest paid bullfighter ever. Known especially from his theatrical, acrobatic style. El Viti, Santiago Martín Sánchez (1938) Greatest ever of Las Ventas. Declined somewhat in recent years. Jerezano, Luis Parra García (1940) Decrepit. Francis Frank Evans (1942) El Inglés, Britain's best-ever bullfighter. Eloy Cavazos (1949) Mexican legend. Note: Octavio Martínez "Nacional" (1929-1996) who is still marked somewhere living died in 1996.
