    Political Frailty

Not dead - and not recent news (September 2022) but never mentioned here before. Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Prime Minister of Malaysia 2003-2009, has dementia and it's progressed to the point he can't recognize family members and is permanently wheelchairbound.

    Deathlist Cup 2023

Sebastian Brodrick was "dying" around three weeks ago. Bensaid Ait Idder and Khamtai Siphandone I picked just because they're very old and have been rumored/said to be very ill in recent months. Ali Yafie was a pretty risky joker and it seems around 50/50 if he'll recover or die, Enilce Lopez was probably my worst pick, starting to seem very much like El Bronco from MMMDP 2022. She's said to have "30 different ailments" but still not fucking dead and also involved in paramilitaries and possibly drug trafficking.

Ushi Makishi is only recognized by LongeviQuest, but they're pretty much the same folks as the GRG there, so I expect she'll be verified by the GRG sometime soon. Around a week ago it was discovered that Kimi Kawasaki died in Dec 2022, so JVPM is very likely #11, we'll see if he'll make it to the top 10. When was the last time there was a man in the top ten?

    Ideas and possibilities for 2024

Chabelo, Mexican actor and entertainer who the Mexican press call "Immortal", clinically died twice in the 1990s, was in a serious car accident in 2008, survived a fall and agressive metastatic gastrointestinal cancer last year, suffering from some kind of a nervous system disorder that affects his limbs and is also rumored to suffer from dementia. Also rumored dead multiple times. 88 this month. Survivors from OoO's list in Ideas & Possibilities - The Names (2006) with descriptions used A Steven Adler (1965) has had 2 strokes, a h/a & has a long standing drugs habit, and has been quite ill lately. B Bob Barker (1923-2023) US game show host. Slight chance of no obit, but I expect he will get at least a BBC mention. B. 1923 - health problems in recent years, include 4 strokes & prostate surgery. But has come through okay each time & now retired. E Joseph Estrada (1937) Phillippine ex-President, possibly facing the death sentence. Currently still under house arrest. F Louis Farrakhan (1933) US religious leader, now possibly suffering from cancer. Whatever the truth is, he's not a well chap. G Terri Garr (1944) Has had MS for yrs & possibly the "Gene Wilder Curse" too... Brian Glanville (1931) Now quite wizened, he smokes a lot & likes his wine. There's a general impression by BG & many others, he's already lived too long. H John Hogan (?) UK father who killed his son, tried to kill his daughter and himself in a suicide attempt on holiday. Not famous at all, but the publicity surrounding the tragedies mean if he did kill himself in his cell, he might well get a UK obit. K Joan Kennedy (1936) ex-wife of Ted Kennedy. Fighting breast cancer (successfully) & alcoholism (unsuccessfully). Obit not 100% guaranteed, but she is a (ex) Kennedy, after all. L Greg Louganis (1960) legendary diver. Has full-blown AIDS, and has since 1998. M Shane MacGowan (1957-2023) Pogues frontman, who is just as famous for his hard living as his music. Now bloated, pale, on all drugs bar heroin, no teeth and is an alcoholic. And yet Kirsty McColl died first.... N Hassan Nasrallah (1960) head of Hezbollah. Need I say more? O Paul O'Grady (1955-2023) recently had his second heart-attack. b. 1955. Lifelong smoker. Teodoro Obiang Nguema (1942) Pres of Eq. Guinea, has prostate cancer and heart problems, and may stand down soon. S Shih Ming Teh (1941-2024) Taiwanese politican, b. 1941, has liver cancer. May get UK obit, probably in the Guardian if nowhere else. Debra Shipley (1957) former Labour MP, battling breast cancer. 15 survivors out of a very long list of names and most of them still good pool picks.

    Bodybuilders

As someone in a certain Finnish tabloid I occasionally read seemingly has a weird obsession with relatively minor names (no English wiki) in bodybuilding, I've read that 40-year-old IFBB bodybuilder from Ghana William Bonac "The Conqueror" is apparently suffering from a kidney infection and not following doctors advice, in his own words: "A little bit of inflammation in my kidneys. I have to take measurements for that. I have some medicine to take but I can’t take it right now because I’m in prep because it goes against each other." "Measurements" in this case means he isn't taking oral steroids. He intends to compete in Arnold Classic next month. A few days ago he mourned that penis enlarger who was mentioned here somewhere, maybe there's some kind of a chance The Conqueror will join him soon.

    Sheikh Down

Sheikha Intisar is an interesting personality. She's suffered from PTSD since the Iraqi Invasion of Kuwait, in addition to that stuff mentioned in the quoted post she's worked with UN's Sustainable Development Goals program and founded atleast three non-profit organisations, the Intisar Foundation that helps women affected by war and trauma in the Arab World, etc, helped make the Arabian Peninsula a slightly better place. Major name in Kuwait, but only 58 and hopefully not a pool possibility soon. Here with her father Sheikh Salem around 2019 or 2020, picture from her Instagram account: Sheikh Salem's donated a lot to charities too and usually donates in millions. His net worth is likely in billions as he's been getting rich from the oil since the 1950s. Also, that dead Saudi Arabian prince seemingly turned out to be a son of King Saud who was the successor (and son) of Ibn Saud/King Abdulaziz. I can understand how he was confused with that son of Ibn Saud.

    The 100 Club

Mihai Șora is that guy who has an active (or active the last time I checked a few months ago) facebook account. Chinese Wiki has two born 1916 who I think could still likely be alive. And around 35 others still marked living who have either died in recent years according to Baike or other sites or likely died around five decades ago. Xu Zhongfu (wikidata) China's former ambassador to Chile, Argentina and Brazil. Was China's ambassador to Chile when Mao died. Has had a Zh wiki since 2012 and a Spanish wiki since 2016. As far as I know he was still alive around 2021 and has a Baike Baidu page. Whatever the name of this guy is, Mitsushiro Maeda/Mitsushige? Maega? (wikidata) Japanese-born Chinese veteran. Seems to have been used in Chinese propaganda in recent years so he's probably alive.

Feng Zigen hospitalised for 20 days, recovers from covid, double pneumonia, bilateral pleural effusion, anemia, abnormal kidney and liver function, bacterial infection and hypoalbuminemia and gets discharged. Yes, at 104. (Article also lists his other ailments, he's been near-blind and has had a shrapnel in his femur since the long march, bedridden for the last three years, fed through a tube for a longer time and suffers from brain atrophy and severe intestinal problems. Another name to the long, long list of Chinese medical miracles.) Also, Li Yuguang dead at 101. Should've picked him in the Centenarians DP instead of all those immortals.

    Ideas and possibilities for 2024

Some folks turning/have already turned 90 this year Amartya Sen - Diagnosed with throat/oral cancer and given an 15% survival in 1952. The radiation he got during the treatment had severe effect on his bones and in 1971 he suffered severe bone necrosis. In 2018 he had prostate cancer and was still undergoing radiation therapy in 2020. Also has been decrepit for years now. William Kahan - Computer scientist looking more and more frail Cormac McCarthy - I tend to forget he's still alive. Bill Hayden - Former GovGen of Australia. Suffered a massive stroke in 2014 that put him into hospital for more than seven months and suffering from complications since. Ben Nighthorse Campbell - US politician who retired in 2004 due to prostate cancer and other ailments. Itzhak Fintzi - Bulgarian actor who seems to live in poverty but in local news a lot. Looks frail H. D. Deve Gowda - Former Indian Prime Minister who has had covid twice and suffered from some unknown ailment that made him look half dead around mid-2022. Recovered mysteriously. Rubén Darío Paredes - Panama military dictator who was born before and came before Manuel Noriega. Also a bit fat. Abel Pacheco - Former Costa Rica president. History of heart problems. Paul Biya - Demented despot. T. Cullen Davis - Oil heir/murderer. Looked pretty frail already in 2016. Philip Zimbardo - Stanford prison experiment guy. Doesn't look very great. Ilia II of Georgia - respected religious leader of Georgia (country) Suffering from parkinson's for more than a decade, heart ailments, everything! They even tried to kill him because he's dying too slowly. Bertram Turetzky - Ancient contrabass master Rein Taagepera - a bit frail but hasn't been mentioned here in eight years. Bob Cole - Canada's hockey announcer, allegedly suffering from dementia
