    The 100 Club

I'm almost willing to bet that we'll run out out of Chaco War veterans pretty soon- much sooner than the Spanish Civil War veterans. I think it's best not to make a thread for them as the war wasn't as notable as other wars that have threads and they're all centenarians by now. We've lost a few of them during the last months including the last nurse of the war six days ago. The surviving six (known) Bolivian chaco war veterans are: José Pradel Loayza (born in July 1914, 106) Celebrated his 106th in july: pictures. Samuel Chuquimia Murillo (born in August 1916, 104) Pedro Pocubé Muller (born in 1916, 104) Despite looking frail, still able to talk well in this video from january 2021: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0TVB4IrhQc Emeterio Ernesto Talavera Choque (born around 1918, 102) Still looks pretty great Miguel Siñaniz Vigabriel (born around 1918, 102) Can't find nearly anything about Paraguayan veterans, but I mentioned Basilio Gonzalez before and this article mentions two others, aged 107 and 106.

People I Was Surprised To Find Are Still Alive

Here's a few: Andy McCoy: Thought he was dead until I heard about him today in the news. This Hanoi Rocks lead guitarist first tried alcohol and weed when he was 9 and raw opium at 16 and heroin at 19. He's been tried/been addicted to heroin, cocaine, codein, meth and amphetamine. Otherwise a great guy, he'll be 59 in October if his body doesn't fail before that. Jamshid bin Abdullah of Zanzibar: Last Sultan of Zanzibar from 1963 to 1964 when he was deposed. Now he's 91. Catherine Denguiadé, Empress Consort of CAR's Bokassa. She's not only alive but also as young as 71. Also, Bokassa's last prime minister Henri Maïdou is still alive and 85.

    Political Frailty

I've been thinking about this since yesterday... which group of three will live longer? 1. The three alive Presidents of Laos: Khamtai Siphandon (born 1924), Choummaly Sayasone (born 1936) and Bounnhang Vorachith (born 1937) OR 2. The three alive former Presidents of Zambia: Kenneth Kaunda (born 1924), Rupiah Banda (born 1937) and Guy Scott (born 1944) Both have one "ancient one" born in 1924, the 1937 births Vorachith and Banda both seem to be overweight and Guy Scott has parkinson's and looks very frail.

    Death By Jazz

https://yle.fi/uutiset/3-11836169 Finnish jazz musician Pentti Lasanen dead at 84. He was known from the "Four Cats" band, created in 1958 and named in 1960 after The Four Freshmen and The Four Aces. All three bands are still active! Laasanen was in the band from the start until his death. The founders of the band were Laasanen (1936-2021), Esa Laukka (born 1933), Kai Ruohonen and Kaj Lindberg. Many Finnish musicians have been part of the band, for example Jaakko Salo (1930-2002) and Martti Metsäketo (1940-2015) The current band members of Four Cats are: Kai Lind (born 1937) since 1960 Esa Nieminen (born 1952) since 1990 Timo Turpeinen (born 1959) since 2014 Laasanen is in this video from 2015, on the right. You can already notice he isn't well, especially from his hand movements in at around 0:18

    Ideas and Possibilities for 2022

Kenneth Kaunda. DL has gotten hits from a lot of old African 60s/70s/80s despots and presidents (Hastings Banda and Mobutu Sese Seko in 1997, Idi Amin in 2003, PW Botha in 2006, Ian Smith in 2007, Robert Mugabe in 2019, Daniel arap Moi and Hosni Mubarak in 2020) so Kaunda, who doesn't look that healthy, could be a new addition to the collection. Maybe F.W. de Klerk/Sam Nujoma/Paul Biya/Teodoro Mbasogo/Denis Sassou Nguesso/Jose Eduardo dos Santos/Ali Hassan Mwinyi if any of these get any health issues
