Betty Driver Memorial Soapstar Superstar Thread

    Ok one constructive post while I'm here .... any Corrie geek knows the show was originally commissioned for just 13 episodes, which is quite astonishing given it's now on 10,535 and counting and surely not a million years from it's 13,000th episode. (around 2030 based on fag packet calculations if it carries on at a stupid 6 weekly episodes) Named characters from the first 13 episodes of the long running soap. 19th February 1896 - 31st March 1984 - Jack Howarth (Albert Tatlock) 8th March 1897 - 1st January 1988 - Margot Bryant (Minnie Cadwell) 1st September 1898 - 26th December 1983 - Violet Carson (Ena Sharples) 3rd February 1899 - 16th November 1994 - Doris Speed (Annie Walker) 4th September 1899 - 2nd April 1984 - Frank Crawshaw (Arnold Tanner) 8th December 1899 - 30th June 1970 - Arthur Leslie (Jack Walker) 16th October 1906 - 24th March 1991 - Maudie Edwards (Elsie Lappin) 25th July 1907 - 8th February 1989 - Cyril Luckham (Dr Tinsley) 15th September 1910 - 18th April 1985 - Dorothy Frere (Hetty) 2nd October 1911 - 5th January 2005 - Gabrielle Daye (Beattie Pearson) 10th December 1912 - 17th July 2000 - Joan Heath (May Hardman) 29th June 1914 - 30th June 1990 - Lynne Caroll (Martha Longhurst) 14th September 1914 - 26th March 1971 - Frank Pemberton (Frank Barlow) 22nd September 1915 - 15th April 1982 - Arthur Lowe (Leonard Swindley) 23rd December 1916 - 29th June 1935 - Noel Dyson (Ida Barlow) 18th April 1918 - 8th November 2005 - Avril Angers (Norah Dawson) 31st October 1919 - 21st December 2012 - Daphne Oxenford (Esther Hayes) 1st April 1920 - 22nd November 1995 - Joan Francis (Dot Greenhalgh) 27th January 1922 - 18th May 1991 - Betty Alberge (Florrie Lindley) 26th November 1923 - 17th September 1986 - Pat Phoenix (Elsie Tanner) 10th April 1924 - 31st December 2017 - Doreen Keogh (Concepta Riley) 10th January 1926 - 4th July 1994 - Ray Mort (Ron Bailey) 22nd April 1926 - 24th December 1997 - Ivan Beavis (Harry Hewitt) 17th November 1927 - Alive (Ernst Walder) 9th February 1929 - 29th November 2001 - Ruth Holden (Vera Lomax) 9th October 1931 - 25th September 2017 - Anthony Booth (Malcolm Wilkinson) 12th November 1931 - 23rd November 2000 - Brian Rawlinson (Joe Makinson) 25th April 1932 - Alive - William Roache (Ken Barlow) 22nd June 1932 - Alive - Prunella Scales (Eileen Hughes) 21st November 1932 - 2nd July 2010 - Beryl Bainbridge (Sheila Birtles) 1935 - 19th August 2019 - Anna Gymer (Glynis) January 1935 - 10th June 2008 - David Brierley (Milo) 13th September 1935 - Alive - Angela Crow (Doreen Lostock) 20th June 1936 - Alive - Philip Lowrie (Dennis Tanner) 9th February 1937 - Alive - Alan Rothwell (David Barlow) 1st March 1937 - Anne Cunningham (Linda Tanner) 22nd March 1939 - 12th August 1986 - Christine Hargreaves (Christine Hardman) 6th November 1942 - Alive - Patricia Shakesby (Susan Cunningham) 10th January 1945 - 5 October 2006 - Jennifer Moss (Lucille Hewitt) It's perhaps unsurprising most are now dead 60 years later. HARES DEATH POOL 2022

Think that might be the record for most teams with a 0 point hit by some considerable margin, the laugh that's given me makes up for missing him in the DDP

    Hares Death Pool 2021

Rigged AFB, blood rigged I tell you. There's a reason we normally let the people who are shit at deadpooling run this (no offence Willz)... Nah, seriously congrats but try not win the thing two years in a row that would be bad form. Tbh pretty damn impressive given you had to send your team in before everyone else!!!

    Derby Dead Pool 2022

To be fair I've fucked this up on my end anyway because there's a considerably younger but perfectly health playwright/author of the same name who happens to be considerably more famous. I obviously meant the guy with cancer but didn't realise there was two of them. I thought the 58 year old Irishman playwright/author was the one of with cancer who would surely easily pass the fame threshold but turns out the 70 year old American playwright/faith bloke who even by my selfish viewpoint is clearly a borderliner is the one with cancer. Not sure what on earth you do with that one but something to add to the committee discussion. But I definitely did not mean the psephologist as the playwright description on my team sheet to GUN will show https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Butler_(author)

Thanks to the committee for all their hard work. It's truly impressive to be able to get the site up in a later time than it took a single host with 3 of you (the former hosts are too polite to point this out so I'll help them). I hope the admins don't mind me swinging by to mention this where it will be seen. I appear to have been given distinguished pseohologist David Butler rather than cancer ridden playwright David Butler https://www.pressherald.com/2021/12/05/amid-cancer-battle-minister-and-playwright-confronts-mortality-on-and-off-stage/#:~:text=Diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal,Horse Theatre in South Portland.&text=During his time as a,death%2C others an uncertain future.
