  1. RIP Lady Bird. All those who got bored with the lack of 2007 Deathlist success and stopped checking the site are sure to get a shock when they log back on.... especially with Tammy's end so imminent.....

Yeah, I'd be among those who got bored. Now all I can say is wow.

  2. LOL from NBC no less.

I'd still rather have Cuban healthcare than the British NHS.

Would you now? Take a look at this website and see the pics taken from Cuba. Living in America I haven't experienced the NHS first hand, but I'd rather have NHS healthcare than Cuban after lookign at those photos.

  3. This guy has been around for almost 87 years (will be 87 in February). Is there anyone who knows how his health is doing? Since Wikipedia doesn't have any word on his health, he must be doing fine for the moment. He should be on the list for '08.

  4. If this forum is anything like the P.W. Botha forum or the Pinochet one, we're going to have one big heated debate. Why not, let's get it over with. Someone post a pro-Rhodesia argument and we'll all argue it to death.

I noticed old Bobby Mugabe didn't make the DL '07. We better hope one of these would-be assassins Zimbabwe claims to discover every-other month doesn't get lucky and actually kill the guy.

  5. Rowdy Roddy Piper, now there's a name I never thought I'd see on deathlist 2007. Speaking of pro-wrestlers, nothing amazes me more than knowing that Scott Hall and Kevin Nash are still alive. I honestly expected Kevin Nash to have been dead in 2005 when he suffered his heart attack.

  6. Somehow, I have this feeling that Clinton will be the next ex-president to go. Seeing how old Bill is the only living ex-president who has shown signs of life-threatening health conditions.

Question: does Walter Mondale (Carter's VP, ran for president in '84, and was a Minnesota Senetor for years before) meet the qualifications for Deathlist?

  7. He was elected. Maybe not as president but as vice-president. He was voted in and yes the vice-president on the ballot does matter to most people. Its a package deal.

No, president Ford wasn't elected in office. He was appointed vice-president after Spiro Agnew resigned and became president after Nixon did the same.

    regards,

    Hein

Does that mean that Spiro would have been president if he hadn't resigned? Why did he resign, was it because he knew what Nixon was up to but didn't stop him or because he didn't know and should have realised what was going on? :P

Spiro T. Agnew resigned because of charges of tax evasion.

  8. Today is my birthday, and when I woke up I thought, "Wouldn't it be nice if somebody on deathlist.net died, just for my b-day?" Lo and behold, Joesph Barbera did! Kinda sad though, I liked the shows he made.

  9. Cheeta the chimp would be an excellent selection, wasn't Red Rum on the list one year?

So why not Cheeta, he's a world famous movie star and the world's oldest known chimp.

Over the years, rules have become more sifisticated. Red Rum was on the list a few years ago, but in Deathlists modern day, Cheeta would be considered illegal.

If nobody minds me asking, what exactly is the harm of having an animal on deathlist? I understand that if we allow one animal, we're opening the door to allowing more. But how many famous animals are there? I don't mean to be disrespectful, but sometimes rules have to change. And I don't see any harm in putting a chimp on the list. Even if we allow animals, there will always be a preference for humans on the list. I hope this doesn't turn into a large debate, because I don't think this is the right forum to do so in, but I just want to express why I think Cheeta should be allowed. Cheeta isn't going to harm anyone if he's on deathlist.

  10. I don't know if this is the place to say it or not, forgive me if it's not, but I'm against the idea of having Saddam on the list. I haven't been here for long, but I feel having someone who's going to be executed isn't in the spirit of the deathlist.

I'd also like to suggest Cheeta the Chimpanzee, he's 74 this year. I think he'd add a variety to the list.

  11. Ian Smith, former Prime Minister of Rhodesia, 87. You take a look at this picture that was taken in 2000 and you tell me how long he's got to live. Also, he's moved from his farm in Zimbabwe to live with his step-daughter in South Africa. His health must be real bad if the stubborn old man was willing to give up his farm.

Jack Kevorkian, 78. Dr. Death is terminally ill with Hepatitus C. Go here for the source. It only seems right for Kevorkian to be on deathlist.

    Thanks.

  12. The negotiations over the handing over of the territory were carried out in 1984...

Thank you themaninblack for clearing that up with me. Pardon my ignorance, I was only 9 when Hong Kong was handed over to the Chinese, and I wasn't alive in 1984. At least I learned something new today!

  13. There's an annoying space on the list between Casper Weinberger and Charles Haughey that I hope by the end of the year is filled up a bit. Margaret Thatcher, would you care to volunteer to fill the void?

I presume Thatch will go to one of her best friend's funeral. Let's face it - Heathrow to Santiago is a long way. A very long way for an 81 year old in poor health. Plus the deaths of her mates Casper and Milton must have dealt a blow to her morale even before this. Not long for her, I feel.

This will really quicken her demise you think? I sure hope so. She's been wasting oxygen for long enough. If at least one good thing comes out of all of this, this will be it!

Derek & Clive would say you were a provocative f****r!

You want Thatcher to go and yet you're blowing the patriotic trumpet re Falklands and unless I'm very

much mistaken, Thatch was the PM at the time. Sounds like you're picking an argument for arguments sake...

She's a dumb bitch and I F*****g hate her! :D While she did the right thing in the Falklands to save face, you could argue that she should have properly defended the islands in the first place! It was a spectacular British victory though. But the Falkland Islands has really nothing to do with why I hate her.

Why I hate this cow is because she thought the Falkland Islands were worth fighting for but then she went and handed Hong Kong over to the Chinese voluntarily. WTF?! Red China couldn't believe their luck! And nor could anyone else for that matter. Hong Kong was the last great British colony and this stinking bitch hands it over to the Chinese. She is a traitor and a coward. That's why I hate her. She is commie loving SCUM and she should have been hanged for treason. I F*****g HATE HER SO MUCH!

Now, I don't live in the UK. But I checked my sources and Margaret Thatcher left office in 1990. Hong Kong was handed over on July 1, 1997. That was after she left office. The prime minister at that time was Blair. How did Margaret Thatcher hand over Hong Kong when she wasn't PM?

  14. General Augusto Pinochet, infamous former dictator of Chile, has passed away aged 91 to give DeathList 2006 its eleventh success. The ruler of Chile from 1973 until 1990 was famously arrested in the UK in 1998 following charges of human rights abuses brought in Spain. Although he was eventually not extradited and was allowed to return to Chile, the Chilean authorities pursued charges against him, eventually placing him under house arrest just days before he managed to slip through their fingers by dying. 2006 was Pinochet’s tenth appearance on DeathList, this year receiving the number 43 position. News reports have suggested that there have been mass street celebrations in Santiago to mark DeathList 2006's eleventh success.

What were the people in Santiago celebrating? The death of Pinochet, or the fact that Deathlist got it's 11th sucess?

  15. HE'S DEAD!!!

Hmm... it seems that this year has been highlighted by a lot of the politicians. I'm guessing the last person to die in this year is going to be another politician. It's always good when someone like Pinochet or Botha die because they're considered to be evil. Let's hope the last person to die will be more evil than both of these men combined.
